Furthermore, the introduction of Kurtis Trent was revolutionary as it was arguably the first time we significantly cared for a character in the Tomb Raider games that wasn’t Lara Croft. Kurtis wasn’t used as a prop, he became a living, breathing character as well — not only did his introduction promise the possibility of a love interest for Lara, but we also got the opportunity to know the mysterious last surviving member of the Lux Veritatis. Plus, he was also badass with his mystical blade…. ….The chemistry between the two during that first scene — when Kurtis subdued her, caressing her arms as he disarmed her — was off the chain. And I’m talking about a video game from 2003 where the characters still looked like computer game characters. That speaks for itself.
