Shaft

haha so ironically, in arrow fic, i only used the word shaft twice...in quick succession of each other but enjoy this lil bit of pain.

Unsurprisingly, the skin around the arrow shaft is deeply bruised and swollen. What worries Elyan though, is that it’s turned a mottled yellow. Poison.  As though the arrow hitting Merlin where it has, is not enough. The stupid arrow is poisoned.  Elyan wants to bury his head into his hands and scream, but doing so would frighten Merlin. And Elyan has seen plenty of men injured on the battlefield before, has seen how the fear of dying has killed them before their wounds have had the chance.  He won’t be responsible for doing that to Merlin.
