Why did I use the metric system, I’m American, I don’t know metric. anyway:

Quetzalcoatulus Mira, 11 m wingspan (36ft) and standing at 3 m in height (about 10 ft)

Pteranodon Rumi, 7.5 m wingspan (about 24 ft) and standing at 2 m in height (about 6.5 ft)

Rhamphorhynchus Zoey, 1.8 m wingspan (about 6 ft) and standing at 0.6 m (about 2 ft)

Bobby for scale, standing at 1.5 m (4.9 ft)

I think the Bobby taken straight from the movie enhances the piece. Totally didn’t do that because I can’t draw humans to save my life, totally not.

Anyway, as per usual with prehistoric polytrix, Rumi has one demon arm (wing, in this case). Their beaks and head crests (tail in Zoey’s case) are their weapons in this universe, I suppose. And the underside of their wings channel the Honmoon too, so weapon colored.

you maybe be wondering: why?

For Rumi, I think it’s obvious. Cats are, like, one of the most lethal killing machines in the world, and Rumi is a hybrid of both demon and hunter, two apex predators. Also fangs.

For Zoey: very dog-coded (I know dire wolves aren’t actually wolves, shh)

For Mira: Bear Strong and Arctodus Legs Long. Just like Mira.

I’ve never been very good at drawing mammals, but I don’t think these came out too bad :)

some prehistoric polytrix thoughts (+ art for one of the ideas)

Rumi is the one with the dinosaur obsession, since she’s been able to turn into one basically since she was born thanks to her being chosen by the honmoon at her literal birth

At, like, 8, she reads Jurassic Park and really enjoys it. Celine buys her the second book and shows her the films. She has thoughts

(“*pouting* they made Nedry’s death boring!”

“excuse me?”

“The dilophosaurus is supposed to be so much bigger! And it isn’t supposed to have a frill! It’s not scary anymore!”

“oh dear”

and

“this is how Hammond died in the book”

“what?”

“they changed the procompsognathus to Compsognathus and then removed any mention of venom, so of course Dieter Stark looks stupid right now-“

“Rumi can we go back to Hammond dying? What?”

“Hammond fell off a ledge and then got eaten alive by compys”

“by the honmoon”

“and wu got mauled by the raptors! Just like Dr Grant said they would!”

“I should have looked more closely at those parent reviews before I gave you that book”

and

“look, Celine, it’s you and me!”

“Neither of us are t-rexes, Rumi.”

“But you take care of me like Buck and Doe take care of Junior.”

“*under her breath* Of course you know their names.”

“Celineeee”

“Yes, okay, that’s us.”

“Yay!”

“the spinosaurus is justified”

“Rumi, please.”

“They hit it with a plane, Celine! And maybe killed its baby? That was scrapped in production but, like, there’s still evidence of it maybe happening just based off the blood effects, so!!! It’s so justified.”)

Rumi’s choice for movie nights is either a Jurassic Park (or World) movie, anything in the “Walking with” series, or Prehistoric Planet. Zoey gets her marine biology, Mira gets her romance and action movies, but when it’s Rumi’s turn? It’s all prehistory, all the time. (Rumi and Zoey bond over their shared love of David Attenborough when they first meet.)

(when rebirth comes out:

“River Rex scene from the book??? RIVER REX SCENE!!!!! … how are they all still alive??? I’m having fun, but someone should’ve died during that.”

“Rumi, should we be concerned?”

“No, I’m just saying-“

“Yeah, yeah, she’s right! It’s a T-Rex! Someone should’ve died! The raft should’ve at least popped!”

“I’m concerned.”

“But Mira!!”)

At, like, 12, Rumi begs Celine to let her buy Jurassic Park: The Game on Zoey’s computer (they share a Steam account). Zoey also begs. Mira doesn’t, but she supports them. They play JPTG. Mira screams at the Troodon part of the story.

“I don’t think they could actually do that.”

“do you KNOW that???”

“dilophosaurus didn’t spit venom, so yeah, I think I do.”

“Okay, hear me out guys, you know how we can do a bunch of transformations? What if-“

“You two are NOT becoming the Jurassic park versions of dinosaurs, no way.”

“The Honmoon loves us, I’m sure it would let us.”

“Oh my god.”

“Come on, Mira, you gotta at least try with us!”

“…fine.”

The Honmoon does, in fact, let them. More specifically, Rumi does it and the Honmoon adjusts Zoey and Mira’s access to the shapeshifting power Rumi is unknowingly sharing with them via her soul to allow it to happen.

Zoey can now become a JP compy, Mira the JP troodon, and Rumi the JP dilophosaurus (she can do both book and movie, she doesn’t realize this until later). The next demons to come through are horrified by this.

(I just think it’d be neat. You know, for mischief!! And demon menacing!)

(For context, all three are depicted with venom in some form of Jurassic media (compy and dilo in the books, troodon in the connected game that is considered soft canon as well as in all the JWE games even if the design is different). The procompsognathus’s venom has a narcotic effect and causes drowsiness, the troodon have a hallucinogen and paralytic, and the dilophosaurus has their venom spray.)

I’m sure I’ll draw movie dilo Rumi at some point, but for now enjoy novel dilo Rumi, novel compy Zoey, and JPTG troodon Mira.

I tried with the weird way jp does wrists. Don’t know if I did it right. I think I managed on Zoey and Mira, but Rumi’s is kinda just my usual way of drawing theropod arms despite me trying something different. Oh well.

anyway, back to silly thoughts:

Rumi plays any and all dinosaur games. It doesn’t matter how bad it is. She’ll play it. She wants dinosaur media.

When it comes out, Rumi becomes obsessed with the Jurassic World Evolution series. It’s her favorite thing. A park manager AND dinosaurs! How could she ever refuse!! She does the entire campaign, buys all the DLCs, does all the challenges on the hardest difficulty, creates scenic and movie-recreation parks to share to the Steam workshop, and so on. Zoey makes gimmick parks whenever she plays. She has so many lagoons. Rumi secretly downloads a mod that adds a prehistoric turtle to the game for Zoey. Zoey is ecstatic. (Mira’s the one who found it for her.)

Zoey and Rumi have a YouTube channel (no idea what they’d call it). They talk about their special interests and every time they post, it’s one video in English and the exact same one in Korean. They’re using it to practice, Zoey her Korean and Rumi her English. Mira’s their editor.

Zoey decides one day that she wants to make a Jurassic Park fanfilm and begs Rumi to play along with her bc she has the most shifting freedom. Rumi agrees bc she can’t deny Zoey anything and they grab Mira and trek into the woods to record a fake found-footage video of someone getting stranded on Isla Nublar after their ship crashed after the park collapsed and getting hunted by one of the dinosaurs on the island. Mira edits it so that it looks like they used CGI, just really really good CGI. Some people are suspicious, but it’s not too worrying bc they’re drowned out by people praising the acting and editing. And they’ve never shown their faces on their channel, they have little themed helmets (Zoey’s is a turtle, Rumi’s is a t-rex) that they wear for all their videos so the channel won’t be a threat to their future careers. Mira has one too, but she doesn’t appear on screen ever so she doesn’t really need it. She keeps it in a place of honor in her room bc she’s a lovergirl and enjoys sharing something with Rumi and Zoey. Zoey recorded the fanfilm on a go-pro she strapped to her head and Rumi was a dinosaur, so none of their faces showed up in the film either.

There’s a conspiracy theory that’s been around for years that there are dinosaurs on Jeju Island bc there are some blurry photos of the Sunlight Sisters and their mentors in their prehistoric forms circulating the internet, but most folks just think it’s a hoax. Those living on Jeju who have watched Celine raise Rumi know for a fact that it’s true, because baby Rumi couldn’t go five minutes without shifting into some dinosaur or other prehistoric thing, but they aren’t going to say anything about it. Let the people believe what they want.

Celine is losing her mind. These kids are driving her nuts. She loves them so much.

I can’t think of anything else rn and this is long so I’m just gonna post it. It’s been in my drafts for like. A month now. Slowly being updated with new thoughts every time they occur to me. Anyway, hope you enjoyed the ramble.

a short prehistoric polytrix story

Rumi chased after Celine, wide grin on her face. She did wonder for a moment how a dinosaur could grin, but she supposed it was the Honmoon’s influence. Or maybe they actually could? Something for her to look up later.

The Honmoon pulsed. Rumi froze, head swiveling. The forest? Was there a demon in the forest? No, that pulse was different from a demon emergence… what was it then?

Celine slowed down, pounding steps slowly coming to a halt.

“Rumi?”

Rumi jolted. “Coming, Celine!”

She would check it out later.

Rumi crept into the forest, eyes wide and focused. She needed to find it.

A rustling of leaves made her freeze. Rumi swung her head around, staring intently at the bush the sound came from. She approached it slowly, her patterns glowing a soft magenta.

Rumi pounced. A sparrow flew up in a panic, abandoning its stick. Rumi frowned. Her patterns dimmed slightly.

Maybe it was already gone?

thump

There!

Rumi ran out of the bush, tail swishing behind her.

She slid to a stop, eyes widening. Frightened amber met angry brown.

Rumi took a step back, tail drooping. She tried to keep eye contact with the giant black otter. The otter glared at her. Rumi whimpered.

The Honmoon pulsed around them. Rumi stopped, tilting her head and glancing down.

Her back hit the ground.

“Never look away from a possible threat.”

Rumi growled, struggling under the otter’s paws. She opened her mouth and bit down, hard. The otter reared back, releasing her.

Rumi scrambled to her feet and roared. It admittedly sounded more like a chirp, but Celine assured her she’d sound more threatening when she got bigger. Hopefully it was enough for this.

The otter stared at her. Then dropped down so all four paws were touching the ground.

“I see Celine isn’t neglecting your training. You should work on your roar, though. That won’t scare any demon.”

I haven’t written anything in so so long, so sorry if this isn’t that good.

Also. Facial expressions are hard on animals.
