Book One
The Way of the Righteous and the Wicked
1 Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; 2 but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night.
3 He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers. 4 The wicked are not so, but are like chaff that the wind drives away.
5 Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous; 6 for the Lord knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish. — Psalm 1 | English Standard Version (ESV) The Holy Bible, English Standard Version. “Voting” and “protesting” are not mutually exclusive.
Diversity of tactics, it's called, where I come from.
Engage to your comfort and safety level. Some people will go further than others. Each type of resistance supports the others. This is how movements work.
The violent protests make it clear to people that there will be consequences. The nice silent protests give the wavering and anxious a way to slowly dip their toes in, after which you can talk to them about doing more. Movement-building, theorycrafting, and mutual aid show everyone how another world is possible. Supporting others helps with making sure people don't burn out while the work still needs to be done. Even existing as someone outside the dominant respectable paradigm is itself a form of resistance, because you're not letting them win.
You're not limited to one or another, either. It is perfectly possible to register to vote and still go out to a protest afterwards.
Don’t condemn other people for doing more or less than you want them to. To quote the Hunger Games series, remember who the real enemy is.

Your present circumstances don't determine where you can go; they merely determine where you start.
