this is rock bottom. by @pressurizes
We're in Vegas and they've given us a suite to make up for our dirty room. We slow dance in the middle of it with the curtains pulled back so we can watch the Strip light up in front of us. You kiss my forehead and I glow like the neon lights. We're in Vegas and you've convinced me to jump in the pool even though it's cold. I forget how to swim, so water gets up my nose and I cough when I surface. You laugh at me and wrap me up in towels to stop my shivering. We're in Vegas and we've walked two miles in the heat in terrible shoes. I'm dehydrated and your phone is dying and we're almost lost, but we can see the hotel in the distance. We soldier on hand in hand, and you rub my feet in bed later that night. We're in Vegas and you've lost a sushi-eating contest to me. I convince you to split mochi with me and you pay with the money you won from Craps. When we get back to the hotel, you convince me to gamble. I lose all of my money, but it doesn't even matter because you look over and blow a kiss at me. We're in Vegas and I've convinced you to walk over to the Bellagio Conservatory with me at midnight. The flowers smell amazing and the birds are asleep. A woman takes our photos in front of a tortoise whose shell is made up of roses. I'm kissing your cheek and your arm is wrapped around me tightly. We look happy. We're in Vegas. There's no place I'd rather be right now. You snore next to me in our king-sized bed and I kiss the freckles on your back. We're in Vegas. I could stay here with you forever. We're in Vegas. And I'm absolutely in love with you.
cut scene: "i don't need anything but you"
It was a night in May. You had fallen asleep hours before, while I had stayed up writing. When I finally padded into the bedroom, you were splayed out, taking up the entire bed and snoring lightly. When I climbed underneath the covers, you swung your arm around me in your sleep and pulled me close. And it was then that I thought that, maybe, despite my habit of never returning calls and deleting voicemails without listening to them, and despite my habit of locking my keys in my apartment and sleeping on my neighbor's floor, and despite my habit of running from the nearest commitment, and despite my habit of fucking everything up around me... Maybe, maybe I could do this with you for the rest of my life. And maybe, maybe I wanted to.
cut scene: "i was always scared of staying in one place for too long until you came around"
