Maybe! @pretentiousendeavour and I discussed the issue at length in the reblogs of that post
Our end conclusion to that particular question was that while we don’t have evidence that the Mod Frogs do eat sapients, we don’t have evidence that they don’t, either.
If they do, they’re no different from the other mutes in that respect. It would make sense to keep food options open and frogs are pretty opportunistic
If they don’t, there could be a few reasons why, including yours! pretentiousendeavor also said it could be because they tend to work together with other sapient mutes more (dragonflies, flies, scarlemagne) and/or their strict culture may lead them to having rules about what’s acceptable food, and possibly prohibit sapients from being an option
I do like your idea though, that angle hadn’t occurred to me and it does seem in character for them to do something like that!
