A Tainted Rose

Story + Speeddraw Under Cut:

Amy Rose, a gentle young and kind soul... She always looked out for her friends, wanting the best for everyone. She was so compassionate, even to her own detriment.

A rose is always a precious flower, isn't it? One that brings beauty and perfection to those who represent them.

And to Amy, she was the kind and innocent pink rose, who always appreciated her friends and was there for them.

But as time had gone on, Amy began to notice that her friends were drifting away from her. She remained undettered, knowing that'd she'd forever be by their side.

It wasn't until a fight where everything went wrong. Eggman, being Eggman, was beginning to attack a peaceful location to test one of his newest inventions. As soon as she heard, she rushed over, only to find that Sonic and Tails had handled it just fine and left.

Was she no longer needed...?

Amy felt a spark of sadness grow inside of her, unable to give her love and care to the world as she had hoped.

She left the scene, not bothering at the moment to ask if anyone was okay since they were already repairing things.

As she ventured on, she wandered into the woods. Night set in, and glowing flowers lit up in the shrouded leaves. Curious, she followed the trail of flowers before finding herself heading into a dark cave.

A massive flower, one's light illuminating the rocky exterior that surrounded it. Amy was awestruck, slowly approaching the blooming flower. Just as she was about to brush her fingers on its petals, vines broke through the ground and tangled her in them, threatening to strangle her. As the vines began to sprout thorns, Amy's vision began to fade... Feeling nothing until she collapsed in on herself.

It was like something... Something more was there. She felt different, more... Herself, in a way. She got up from the ground, seeing that her hands had gone black and her once bright red and white dress had shifted to a dark but sparkly violet wine dress. She didn't even notice her quills or eyes change colors.

But now, she had a new mission in mind with her newfound self-discovery...

To prove her worth to everyone who's discarded her.

I read it and the introduction somehow speaks more maturely and eloquently to children than some other books speak to adults. Also i think the inscription says Thomas H. Hayleruss - for prize (cant read this bit)
