Is there any context for the Ariana and Scar ship art???? What??? Why??? I have so many questions

The context is like three months ago before I shipped Scarian I got bored at 2am and scrolled through the entire Scarian tag and found like. one post that suggested Scar/Ariana Griande but where Scar didn't know Grian was Griande and it latched onto my brain like headcrab and by the next day I had constructed an entire Hannah Montana au/fic concept frantically at work and was bribing my friend to write fic by drawing fanart. They haven't written it yet. I did make this sketchy mini comic tho

Long story short Grian flirts with Scar while in the persona of Ariana Griande as a joke and Scar falls for Griande in the process, fully unaware Grian was Griande. Grian sees Scar's like?? into it? and he's like "oh! okay cool" and then Grian finds out somehow Scar doesn't know he's Griande and he becomes very distraught about it and like. you know. angst i guess. "oh no Scar thinks I'm a completely different person!! He might not even be into men! How distressing! Scar isn't into me in the way I'm Into him!" and Scar is there like "Did you see how she was flirting with me? I think she's into me! however she is avoiding me now? I'm getting mixed signals here!"

This isn't very important but also Impulse is the only other member of Boatem who doesn't know Grian is Griande but he DOES know Grian has a crush on Scar so his "Don't worry! I'm sure it's just a celebrity crush, he'll get over it soon" is well intentioned but ultimately not the greatest. Pearl and Mumbo are Very Tired and are like "please just talk to Scar Grian. Grian please. stop moping. please. Grian"

Do you genuinely believe that the witchers are written as a trans allegory on purpose? Like don't get me wrong, I love those books to bits. But it wouldn't be the first nor the last time a queer allegory is written by accident, and I love that interpretation. Isn't it giving Sapkowski a bit too much credit to assume it's done on purpose? Idk, I just don't want to get excited over something (it being deliberate) that isn't true, you know?

No, I don't think it's on purpose, and purposefulness is required to an allegory. I find that unlikely. It's certainly possible, but I doubt it. Sapkowski does use language that can be found in queer theory and does write queer characters on purpose which does include Ciri who is bisexual, so it's always a possibility that there was meant to be a trans reading within the subtext, but as you say, that is giving a bit too much credit to Sapkowski.

However, that doesn't change that the witchers are an undeniable analogy towards transgender men. Which is to say that through a queer perspective or reading of the works, there is little to no possible way to not acknowledge the resemblance or equivalence between trans masculinity and the witchers.

Queering of text and the trans-codding (or queer-codding in general) does not have to be intentional to be very much real and present. So while I wouldn't hold your breath for it being deliberate, it's nonetheless a reading that can't be ignored in the text, and you can certainly find that exciting and thought-provoking.

Your post about Scar's intro made me realise he says "my fellow miners and crafters". I was convinced he was saying "mafado, miners and crafters" and I had just no idea of what mafado was.
