2 years ago today was the first time I ever used a cane in public!!! It was in NYC on a trip to The Museum of Modern Art (my fav museum) and it was with an LGBTQ+ young adult summer camp I love, so it was a big step for me since I had never used a mobility aid in front of my friends. This black cane isn't even actually mine, it is one of my grandmother's canes that she keeps in the car just in case (she uses a wheelchair full time or a walker if she has to walk so the cane was not missed). It's adjustable and foldable so it was easy to get to the right height and it was easy to use on public transportation. I only have used it a few times since then because my dad doesn't approve of it, but honestly I need to cut that shit out. When I get some money, I'm going to buy a cane that I like and use it whenever I need it. It will be challenging to walk with a cane and with my SDiT, Hershey, but not impossible. My mobility issues are because of my skin disorder (which is likely from MCAS) so a lot of people think I don't need a cane, when I actually should be using one much more often than I am. Feel free to send me your pretty cane pics/links for ideas! I already have looked @prettysicksupply and found some but the more options I have, the better! (Also shout out to prettysicksupply for being so awesome and having links to fun medical supplies all in one place!)

Need to Avoid Eviction!

Hey Pretties, we have a dilemma.  See, Kristie and I run PSS ourselves and we’ve been working hard building all of this to make all of our lives (and medical shopping needs) easier.  But in the process, Kristie had to leave her job because of her own chronic illness issues.  In spite of that, she’s put in a lot of time and even some of her own limited money towards growing PrettySick Supply.

Last month, my own fairy godmother was able to assist, and the good news is- there is a job on the horizon- but her February rent is gonna come up before the paid training she’s up for pays out.

So, here’s the thing: we could REALLY use your help.  To avoid eviction, Kristie needs to come up with $800 by February 9th.  I know a lot of our community is struggling- but keeping Kristie housed (aside from just.. she and her floofs need shelter) is vital to us being able to keep doing what we’re doing.

Anything you can spare helps build towards the goal, and we would both be SO grateful.  Ultimately this fall, she’ll be moving down here and we’ll be able to share expenses and if all goes well this job will eliminate having to do this kind of ask again- but for now- if you value what we’re doing, and you have anything to spare- she and I would be incredibly thankful for the help.
