You’re totally right. Unfortunately, I’m trying to balance realism and playability. I don’t want to completely block the pool off from routing. I can look into adding some more in the spaces that are already unroutable though. :)

I’d replace some firs. NE really does explode with color in the fall. It will be amazing to see that in your world.

Yes, I agree! I think you’re right. I’m not particularly looking forward to doing this but I imagine it will be worth it in the long run.

I would probably replace some of the firs with other trees, because adding more trees might cause lag issues! :)

While it is true that more trees, or anything really, can cause lag, I am trying to be proactive about the trees that I use, especially in the dense areas. All of my trees will be on one layer which will cause all trees of the same kind to group into a single object per chunk. This helps with minimizing lag. 

Additionally, a good portion of the forest will not be routeable. Some lag issues arise because the game has to calculate how a sim gets from point A to point B. The more objects in the way, the more complicated the routing gets. With large sections unrouteable, hopefully that will also minimize lag.

However, I think EA recommends about 4 types of trees per chunk which was why I initially just did fir forests. As I have added more variety, to get better color and such, I have added more types per chunk. So even getting rid of some firs won’t completely get rid of the lag. 

I don’t think this world will play well with low end computers but I’ll have to have people test that when the world gets to a beta stage.

Thank you all! I'm sorry I haven't posted anything.. My new job is really fun but when I get home I'm exhausted. This takes some getting used to.

So, I work in daycare center. :) There are four of us adults and twelve toddlers. Not the easiest task to keep an eye on them all and helping with everything but I all ready love them all. <3
