Hi folks!
So a little while back, we had our last preview weekend for the 2014-15 year! As always it was a blast. So much was happening during that weekend; 11:07 put on the Finale Show, which showcased the talents of some of our Alumni, & our very own SAMC theatre put on a production of The Drowsy Chaperone. It was a packed weekend, but also very impactful as far as giving an idea to some of the potential students, about what it would be like to come here to Trinity Western University.
I had the privilege of briefly interviewing a couple Preview Weekend guests after the 11:07 show, and it seemed they had had a fantastic weekend. Watch here.

Highway to Trinity Western
Coming to Trinity Western, turned out to be a pretty unique experience. It was made up of a short online application, an Admissions Counsellor with fiery eyes which sent forth an electric, yet inviting gaze, and a random, on the spot dare to do a back-flip in the middle of a Starbucks! I found myself getting more and more excited to even step onto the campus for the first time. See, my "process" of getting to Trinity was quite a straight forward one. I knew I wanted to go to a Christian university even before I made my way over to this wonderful country called, Canada, and when I moved over here, Trinity Western just sort of popped onto my radar. By this I mean I am not sure I can pin point exactly how I heard about it. (Come to think of it, I believe it may have been my mother who introduced me to Trinity). When this happened, I decided to do a little digging for myself, and when I saw what kind of school it was, and that it offered the exact degree I was looking for, in no time I was sold!! I applied, and was accepted even before I had set foot on the campus.
On a little side not, one pretty unique thing that i recently realised, was that a few years back, I was potentially going to be moving to langley, and had in fact come over from Scotland and was staying at a hotel in town, because of my dad's job. We ended up not moving, but who knew that some ten years later I would be in a dorm room, a few kilometers away, writing a blog post about that very moment...God's timing?
Philosophy major Aline B. from the Netherlands talks about moving to Canada, her love for books and her experience coming to Trinity Western.
Dorm Life, Family Life
So this week was a pretty interesting week for me, with papers and exams galore. By no means has my uphill climb come to a much needed plateau, as most of my classes either have their last quizzes, midterms and essays due next week, but one thing I can always count on, is the readiness from dorm-mates to challenge me at a game of pool or ping-pong, to blow off some steam and relax a little.
Not only is there ample opportunity for me to engage and build community with my "Band of Dorm Brothers" but I have found that participating in activities, such as dorm dates, is a great way to really broaden my community here on campus.
A dorm date occurs, when an RA (Resident Assistant) organizes for our dorm to do some sort of activity with a girl dorm here on campus. Sometimes we could go on dorm dates with other guys, but it is generally set up with a girl and guy dorm. This week, we went over to a girl dorm in the Northwest building, and decorated their dorm with lots of Christmas decorations, wrapping most of their furniture, including a table, a mattress, and a fridge, in Christmasy wrapping paper. P.s. Next week is one of Trinity Western's Preview weekends! If you haven't thought about coming yet, here is some
information
that will leave you not being able to say no!
