I don’t know why, but at every pride event I’ve ever been to there’s been a stand with someone selling crocheted octopuses. They have other things, sure, like, some people sell bees in pride flag colors, and others sell scarves, but the one thing that all of them have in common is crocheted octopuses. And you know what? I gave in and I bought one today. A hot pink crocheted octopus the size of my palm who is now named Sappho and lives on my table. I feel as if buying a crocheted octopus at a pride event is some sort of queer milestone that I have only just reached. I wonder if it’s just a regional thing, or if crocheted octopuses are a mainstay at pride events outside of my area? Can anyone else vouch for this?
