I was wondering if sending asks/making comments from side blogs will ever be possible? I interact with a lot of different fandoms that I have different blogs for, and it stinks I can’t fully interact with people using my side blogs. Thanks!!

There has been a ton of chatter around using secondary blogs to interact with others for so many years, and we definitely hear you on this.

If you haven’t seen Cyle’s post on his own blog about the concept of Identities, I highly recommend you go check it out. He shares a lot about how the relationship between primary and secondary blogs work on Tumblr and how they are built—definitely give it a read.

I think to delete one of my sideblogs (here that blog: @railwaycat5 . This is a blog where I post my vehicle art). Almost as soon as I created it, I thought about deleting it because I didn't want it to be a side blog. I think to create a second account instead of that sideblog because I can't make that blog my second primery blog because side blogs can't be primary ones. (But I have doubts whether it is worth doing... I want to make second primery blog about vehicle art just because I feel like the primary blogs get more attention. But what if it only seems that way to me and it’s not really so? And I'm not so comfortable to post my vehicle arts on this blog for some reason, that's why I want to post them on other blog, but I don't know should I have a second primary blog or just a side blog. I don't know what to do...)

I find it very annoying that you can’t switch your primary blog or comment/ask with a secondary blog. That would be a very useful update that tumblr could do. CAUSE ITS REALLY FUCKING ANNOYING

Two features integral to Tumblr that we still need added

What we want:

The ability to change secondary blogs to primary blogs. 

Why we want it:

When a new tumblr user makes their first blog, it is automatically their primary blog.  Along the course of their stay at tumblr, they make secondary blogs, and after a time they decide to retire the first blog they made, or they make a personal blog if their first blog was an art blog or a role play blog.

And there's the problem: we don't want to have that retired blog or that non-personal blog as our primary blog, because the primary blog is the default for everything.  Reblogs, asks, replies, EVERYTHING.

What we want, part 2:

The ability to send asks as secondary blogs.

Why we want it:

If my primary blog is based around something totally unfitting to the blog I want to send an ask to, my only other option is to send anon.  And not only is that impersonal and anonymous and not what I want, some blogs ban anons altogether.  

Here are some examples: 

I want to send asks from my personal blog, but it is secondary.

I want to send asks from my role play blog to another role play blog, but my role play blog is secondary.

I want to send an ask to a nsfw blog, from my nsfw blog, but my nsfw blog is secondary.  Or vice versa, I want to send an ask to a sfw blog, from my sfw blog, but my sfw blog is secondary and my main blog is nsfw.

Tumblr @staff, you've been ignoring or pushing back on these two requests for years now.  We have nothing but logical reasons for our requests.  We basically REQUIRE them as features for tumblr’s secondary/multiple blog mechanic to work fluidly.  

This is me, asking nicely and providing explanation, on behalf of everyone blogging here.

Is there anyway to change the primary/secondary blogs still?? I want my secondary blog to become my primary and I don't want to just swap users and posts.

So this blog is technically my secondary ... but I am attempting to force it into a primary one. This is a warning that some stuff might be a bit messy until I figure this out. If you have tips, they’d be much appreciated.

I wish tumblr would let you switch your secondary blog to a primary. I can't actually follow anyone back or send messages which really bothers me. The best I could do is have the link to my primary blog redirect to my secondary blog which is the one i use.
