(Markhyuck) something gave you the nerve to touch my hand
Mark is about to be twenty, and as the heir of the kingdom, that means he needs to chose who his future spouse will be through the country's traditional competition.
What he wasn't expecting was to find out that his best friend and bodyguard, Donghyuck, has also joined the long list of his suitors to fight for his hand.
[11:59 pm] Prince!Mark shouldn’t have been roaming the castle grounds, especially to sneak through your bedroom window at this time of hour, but he insisted he just couldn’t wait for the big day tomorrow to see you. For this reason, he found himself lying on his aching back, immediately regretting his decisions.
“You are an idiot,” you lowly laugh as you help him unto to his feet.
He scowls, nose scrunched and brow raised in question. “Is that any way to address your prince?”
“No.” You innocently smile up at him. “But it’s the perfect way to address my fiance.”
Mark fails to stifle a laugh and gently pulls you by the waist, body now against his, and wraps you in a tight embrace. “You’re lucky I love you.”
I'm fine now but I'm really heckin worried. My best friend just got mri results that said he has a cyst in his brain that's filled with fluids and I'm heckin scared. Any fluffy shit you have on lock to ease the nerves?-🔥
Knight AU okay? (Knight!Ethan and Prince!Mark in case you didn’t see that post) they’re both in love for the first time and dorks about it oops•Ethan was shocked to see Mark show up at the stables without a lance for once.
Though Mark visited Ethan’s training spot nearly everyday, especially since they’d started having amorous relations, it was usually to help train Eth. Well, more like to say he’d go easy, then defeat Ethan mercilessly, then make up for it by making out.
But, apparently, not today.
Ethan ran up with a wide smile, as usual, greeting his boyfriend with a kiss on the cheek. Tentatively. It was still new.
Mark grinned, cupping Ethan’s chin and tilting his head to return the kiss, but to Ethan’s lips, rather than his cheek.
“Someone’s having a good day,” the younger of the two said, laughing softly as they both pulled away. Mark still cupped Ethan’s chin with both hands and was gazing into his eyes, grinning like before.
“Actually,” Mark replied, smile fading, “My morning was horrific.”
Eth furrowed his brow with slight concern. “It was?”
“Yes. In fact, I would say it was probably the worst morning in the history of mornings,” Mark continued, though a smile was beginning to crawl up his face again in despite of his words.
Ethan rolled his eyes, catching on quickly with a laugh. “You’re such a drama queen,” he teased, backing up slightly.
“No no, it was,” the prince insisted with his smirk, pulling Ethan back in by the lapels of his uniform jacket. He pressed a few kisses against the knight’s collarbone.
“What made your morning so bad, Mark?” Eth sighed fondly, already knowing what had brought Mark to the stables.
“Well you see this heathen,” his boyfriend explained, “This absolute barbaric, beggar boy…committed such a heinous crime, an atrocity…that I think it only fit he receive the worst punishment in all the kingdom.”
“What could he have possibly done to deserve such a thing?” Ethan inquired, playing along bemusedly.
“Well it’s been haunting me all morning, you see,” Mark continued, pulling back slightly to grasp his boyfriend’s calloused hands, “I still can hardly bring myself to believe it…”
“You’re upset I left this morning without waking you up to say goodbye?” Ethan guessed with a smirk, crossing his arms.
“Of course I am,” the prince answered with a pout.
“Beat me in a fencing match and I’m yours for the rest of the day,” He challenged, kissing Mark on the cheek once more.
“Easy,” Mark chuckled confidently, striding towards the open training area.
“And you have to use my lances,” Ethan added, swinging his weapon in the direction of his collection.
Mark’s face twisted in dismay at the thought of not using his custom made, royal swords, which were the only ones he had experience with. Ethan might actually have a chance this time.
Can you do a mark Royal Au! Where he's the king and your his mistress make it kinda shitty please! It's for the 3 sentence fix thing!
RATED PG-13
Y’all I was blushing the whole time I was writing this, I can’t deal with anything anymore *hides blush on face*~
“My lord, there’s an assembly of your advisers downstairs. Shall I tell them you’ll be down shortly?” the voice of a butler called from outside of the door; you and Mark stopped what you were doing long enough to listen to his words.
“Tell them I’ll be down momentarily,” Mark said, straining his voice to ensure that nothing seemed out of the ordinary; once the footsteps had receded down the hall, you gave Mark a grin and bent down to kiss him fully on the lips as he remained seated on the large chair beneath you.
“Aww, are you going to leave me?” you asked, pouting as you pushed down hard onto him, straddling him between your legs. Mark let out a groan as a reply to which you simply smirked and began kissing his collarbone gently, being careful not to leave any marks on his skin or else you would face his punishment later.
Give me a pairing, an AU, and I will write a three-sentence fic~
what makes me really happy is an AU where Ethan is a knight in shining armor and Mark is a prince who’s utterly unimpressed with his skills but finds him entertaining to watch so he’ll skip his royal duties during the day to watch Ethan train.
Mark sitting on the ground, eating an apple while watching Ethan practice his fighting on a dummy. “Aren’t you supposed to be doing prince things right now?” Ethan asks.
“Aren’t knights supposed to be good at fencing?” Mark replied with a smirk, spitting out an apple seed. Ethan shoots him a look.
Eventually Mark decides to take an entire day off and approaches Ethan’s training area swinging a sword in his hand. Ethan asks what it’s for, Mark says he’s gonna teach him how fencing is supposed to be done.
Eth is extremely doubtful a spoiled prince like Mark has ever fenced a day in his life but he’s totally caught off guard and Mark is actually really good? By the end of the day he’s significantly better at fencing and very sore.
Ethan and Mark eventually becoming friends and riding on horseback through forests n hunting together and stuff?
At one point, Mark and Ethan are out in town and talking, when Ethan points out an attractive, wealthy girl near them in the shop.
Mark chuckles, shaking his head and going back to finding a suitable hat.
“Why not?” Ethan asks.
“Girls don’t capture my eye. All the sparkling jewelry and perfume and gowns, but they faint at the sight of a sword,” Mark replies as he tries on a beret.
Ethan laughs, adjusting the askew hat for Mark. “You expect a wife to be your jousting partner?”
The prince shrugs, gazing at his reflection in the mirror.
Ethan rolls his eyes. “You don’t make any sense. Your parents have dozens of exotic princesses arrive on ships every year, the village girls pine for you, and yet you spend your days wasting time.” He watches Mark exchange the beret for a metal helmet. “On hats, nonetheless,” He scoffs, “With a knight.”
Mark slides off the helmet and stares Ethan in the eyes, “I’m not wasting it.”
- Mark’s sister being kidnapped by a crime group and taken to a neighboring country. Mark enlists the help of his army but tries to convince Ethan to stay, well aware of how dangerous it is to enter this country and get involved with this crime group. Ethan declines immediately, insisting he’s not the clueless, useless knight he was when they first met. Mark still refuses to let him come, but Ethan persuades him to let him go if he wins a fencing match.
Ethan wins (which is the first time he’s ever not lost to Mark), and leaves Mark speechless. He helps the prince to his feet and says, “I’m coming.”
- The army gets ambushed by bandits on their journey and Ethan would’ve nearly gotten strangled to death if Mark hadn’t shot an arrow clean through a bandit’s head
- When they finally reach Mark’s sister (bound and gagged in a locked house), Mark charges in first, almost to his panicking sister when he hears a loud thud behind him. As it would turn out, the thud was the sound of Ethan tackling a man to the ground who had a rifle pointed at Mark’s head.
- They end up rescuing Mark’s sister and returning home safely. There’s a kingdom-wide festival to celebrate her return. During said festival, Mark gets drunk on wine and ends up dancing with Ethan extremely energetically and sharing a kiss at the end of the night, he acts like nothing happened the next morning.
- Mark’s little sister (who can’t be more than 15) seems incredibly smitten with Ethan, convinced he saved her life/rescued her, so she starts tagging along with Mark and Ethan when they hang out. She also somehow always manages to find a way to be close to Ethan, tripping into his arms or clinging to his side in fear at loud noises.
- Mark is extremely annoyed and starts randomly acting bitter and he “accidentally” gets her entire dress dirty by splashing in a mud puddle.
- At one point his little sister even hints at how she’d been looking for a betrothal and how much she’s impressed by knights, Mark is so fed up he straight up yells “Ethan can’t be betrothed to you!”
“I never said that I wanted to–” his sister stops herself, “Wait, why not?”
Mark crosses his arms. “He’s already betrothed.”
Both Ethan and his sister shoot him wildly confused looks.
“To who?” His sister asks skeptically.
“A princess,” Mark says confidently.
“Do I know her?”
“No, and she’s none of your business,” Mark states, “Now if you’ll excuse us, Ethan and I have plans.”
- Once they’re out of earshot Ethan is immediately like “What the hell was that?” And Mark just says he doesn’t need Ethan getting distracted by girls right now, especially his sister.
- Angry fencing match after that where Ethan is a little too physical and his sword tears a strip of fabric from Mark’s shirt.
• Mark starts acting different and he’s really stressed because foreign relations are getting tense, verging on what might be the start of a war. He rarely ever spends time with Ethan anymore except for fencing matches, and even then he acts extremely cold.
- Ethan runs after him after Mark says “How can someone with such a sharp eye be so blind?” And bitterly storms off
- Ethan asks him why he’s acting the way he is, Mark keeps saying things under his breath and Ethan keeps asking him what he’s saying until Mark finally yells “I’m tired of being alone when everything I want is right next to me!”
- Obviously awestruck silence from Eth, Mark continues about how sick he is of turning down maidens and royalty because he’s in love with someone, only to be completely ignored by the only goddamn person he actually cares about winning the heart of
- since they were closer than brothers before Mark started getting distant, Ethan is shocked by this news and immediately asks who
- Mark’s absolutely exhausted with Ethan being oblivious so he just grips Ethan and yanks him in, kissing him forcefully and not letting go until he’s out of breath.
- “I wasn’t drunk. You of all people should know a prince can hold his liquor.”
- Ethan doesn’t say anything, just immediately pulls Mark back in and returns the kiss. “You couldn’t have told me a little earlier?” He says in between kisses, “We could’ve gone to your sister’s ball together.”
- Probably makeout sessions all the way into the castle and into Mark’s room, confused castle servants walking in the next morning to find them intertwined and sleeping
- The king falls very ill and Mark is preparing to take his place. Mark asks a question to his father on his deathbed. His father replies before dying hours later, leaving Mark and his sister orphans.
- Mark rushing up to Eth before the coronation. Before Ethan can ask what’s happening, Mark is explaining about how he wants his kingship to be successful, and for that he’ll need someone to rule by his side.
“My father blessed these rings before he died.”
“What rings?” Ethan asks, already close to crying if Mark’s doing what he thinks he is.
“Oh–right!” Mark pulls out an expensive silver band, kneels down, and grasps Ethan’s hand. He gives a long speech on everything he loves about Ethan (not surprisingly, it’s a lot) and how much he wants to spend the rest of their lives together, eventually finally asking Eth if he’ll marry him.
Ethan has barely said yes when the ring is being slid onto his finger and they’re in each other’s arms, holding each other tightly.
Ethan tries to go in for a kiss, only to have Mark pull away with an apologetic look. “After the coronation, I promise!” He calls, darting down the castle halls.
- Mark announcing his betrothal at the end of his coronation, they’re already being showered with gifts and congratulations and Ethan is just a shy boy where’s Mark how does he navigate through this crowd
- a total fairytale wedding which I’ll probably write about but mostly Eth and Mark getting into a playful fake fencing match, using forks as swords and ending up knocking over a chair.
Mark’s sister says they’re embarrassing the royal family and tells them to just eat their damn wedding cake
okay i kinda forgot about the knight au (it's oN A BACKBURNER JFC I HAVE SO MANY UNFINISHED THINGS) and what abt gay relationships being punishable by something horrific so when mark inherits the kingdom everyone expects him to take a wife but he doesn't and waits until he can legalize gay stuff and then he's like "i'm marrying eth lol" -🌹
(Dude it’s chill I have 15 requests on a back burner which is probably a fire/safety hazard)
Omg and what about a teenage boy running up to Mark on the streets and hugging him, the guards are all like rest to shoot the teenager but then he thanks Mark for legalizing it and is crying of happiness because now he can marry his soulmate
