"You cannot be serious!" You screamed out in frustration, glaring at the prince. "M-Michael is my best friend! You cannot 'forbid' me from seeing him!"
"I'm just protecting you from him" was his answer. "What? No! You're just doing this because it hurts your dumb male ego! Well guess what ‘your highness’, I'm not going to stop being friends with him because of you and you can't do anything about it!" You glared at him, turning around in one quick movement and stomping away into the castle.
The prince sighed, head hung and shoulders slumped. This is not how he wanted things to go. When he first came up with the proposal, he thought that you would be happy; happy that it was him and not someone else, happy that you'd both finally have a chance at being together, it was all he thought about for all these years. Sure, it may have been somewhat of a reach considering the fact that you two haven't had been in touch in so long giving you enough time to easily fall into someone else. His plan may have not been so practical now that he thinks about it.
All the could haves and should haves start to fill his mind when some clears their throat from behind. Confused he turned around only to be met with green colored orbs staring straight into his blue ones…Michael.
There he was standing in all his might, with an ever so annoying smirk itched up in his face. What was he doing here?
-
"Soo" Your mother dragged out the word in a cheery tone basically jumping up in the air as she twirled around the dress she had in her arms. You were if being quite honest a little surprised at her antics as the queen usually was more of a reserved person in general. Or so you thought. "Mother"
"Mother!" "Yes dear?" "I don't care!"
The queen's eyes went wide as she searched your eyes looking for any sort of playfulness. "Now quit being so stubborn dear, this is your wedding!" She reasons as if she's talking to a child. "You should be happy and prancing around to make sure they have the flowers right and…and everything's the way it should be!”
You sigh fiddling with the lace ends of your frock "But mother it is not as how it should be. I do not love him and nor does he love me back"
"Oh, hush dear! Do not speak such nonsense! You will learn to love him; I mean what isn't there to love? Such a handsome young prince he is! And clever and smart just like a good leader he'Il turn into one day… He already is" the queen says in an infatuated voice. "He is the one who turned that small kingdom into the empire it is now. If not, your father may not have even given his blessing for you both.”
"So that's what I am now? A business transaction? A reward to seal off a deal?" you ask exasperated. The queen fixes her crown, turning around and staring at her daughter directly, she sighs " I do not understand how to get you to realize this child”
-
Walking down the creek with your dress bunched up in your hands, you smiled softly inhaling the fresh breeze. Suddenly, a sound of rustling of leaves startled you causing your feet to stop dead in their tracks.
Curiosity taking over your brain you snooped here and there, hoping the intruder would be a certain little rabbit. But what caught your eye was a fluff of blond locks and a pale back, crouched down near the riverbank, doing whatever.
The man seemed to be extremely tall by the looks of his long arms and his never-ending legs that was covered by black slacks and bent in the process of crouching. His shoulder blades were dusted with the tiniest number of freckles and the flesh adorning his body took a fair skin tone, almost the color of a ripe peach, his back muscles tensed as he got up "Hey princess".
The handsome man turned around making your cheeks turn bright red as a smirk crept up on his perfect face. "You know, it is considered unethical to see your man's chest bare before the marriage."
Your eyes widen at his remark, heart rate increasing as your breath got caught in your throat. He simply chuckled at that, loving the fact that he could get a reaction like that from you. You quickly turned around as embarrassment crept up your face, wanting nothing more than to escape his cocky nature.
But then you remember something, a simple detail and with that in mind you turn around. "What happened to your face?" His eyebrows furrowed as he touched his face subconsciously, hissing lowly when his fingertips reached his right eye.
"Did...did you start a fight?" you ask eyes narrowing. "Oh princess, you should know that I never start fights with those who are undeserving" And he's back to his old self again. "Then how did you get a black eye?" you question with a frown oh so prominent in your face.
He sighs as he changes back into his formal attire. The white fabric wraps around his body perfectly shielding his flawless muscles from your greedy eyes. He buttons up leaving the topmost buttons undone which ends up displaying the small blond hairs that rest up on top of his firm chest. "Go back to the castle, Princess" he says picking up his black coat.
"Wait, prince Luke!" he awaits your answer eagerly, surprised at the fact that you were willingly talking to him without turning everything into an argument. "Don't get into fights" you say softly, meekly turning around and walking away, trying your best not to look back. He smiles staring at the path until you disappear from his eyes. Maybe everything will turn out just right.
-
"You cannot be serious!" you exclaim with widened eyes. "Princess not again! We start our journey to Arostria tonight and be on your best behavior because that is where you will spend the rest of your life and you need to make a good impression with the town's folk." This was absolutely ridiculous! The wedding was supposed to be held in your kingdom, and the day after that was when you were supposed to head off to his kingdom. But as always without your knowledge there had been a change of plans. You didn't understand why though. Your father, the king himself came down to break the news to you just like that. No asking if you were ok with it or anything.
This had prince Luke written all over it! And worst of all you might not get to say goodbye to your best friend Michael.
-
The creaking sound of the wagon stop all together and after a good minute the door opens to reveal Henry, your footman. "We have arrived Princess!"
You slowly step outside, looking around the gigantic castle. The empire he basically built on his own.
"Welcome your majesty!”
-
You walked alongside the lake wandering about what you overheard. Was it true or was it not? The maids have been talking and you happened to walk straight into the chamber where they were sat, gossiping about you and your prince. Of course, by seeing the princess they all seemed to be shocked to their very core as they scrambled out of that place like little ants when they are caught trying to steal some sugar cubes.
But you heard, oh you heard some things. Somethings that should have never left prince Luke's chambers. Should you believe some maids over your prince? Well, he hasn't really said anything about the matter. And what are you supposed to do? Ask him? Not a chance.
The rustling of leaves brought you out of your realm of thoughts. "Who's there?" you asked, hoping to meet a pair of blue orbs but instead you were met with a different hue…green.
"'Michael!" you exclaimed, surprised to see him there of all places. "I had to see you" he said softly, taking your hand in his and kissing the palm delicately. "Oh Michael! I missed you so much!" you said as he wrapped his arms around you. It was a little bit inappropriate to hug a man that is not who you're marrying but this was Michael for God sakes! Your best friend who came to see you all the way to another kingdom!
"What are you doing here!" you asked teary, as you parted from his embrace. "Like I said, I had to see you and I have something I need to tell you" You ask him what it is. Eager to help him with whatever. After all, that is what best friends do!
"Princess Y/N, from the minute I saw you that night, the glimmer in your eyes, I-I knew that you were too good for this world. Every day I got to spend with you, it was a dream and right now I have to say this. I love you" Prince Michael said staring deep into your eyes. You stare at him dumbfounded. You only viewed Michael as your best friend. Plus you have feelings for someone. Someone else. "I-Oh Michael! I am sorry but I cannot love you. Y-You're my best friend and I am in love with someone else" you say worryingly.
"What-Prince Luke? Y/N you can't be in love with someone who you are forced to marry!" He exclaimed, his eyes screaming rage. "Michael, I'm sorry but this is the way it is" you reason not wanting to hurt him even more. "No! you don't understand. Look…j-just because you're supposed to marry him doesn't mean you have to love him. We-we can go somewhere else! We can start a new life!" he started rambling.
"I'm sorry Michael but I can't! I cannot do that to prince Luke! I love him! I know I do...I just didn't want to accept my feelings" you start but were you talking to Michael or yourself? He doesn't seem too moved by your speech as he approached you.
"Can I at least kiss you?" he asks as your eyes widened. "N-No Michael! That is inappropriate!" You exclaim taking a step back. "I think you should leave" you said wanting nothing more than to end the conversation then and there. He takes a few bold steps and in one swift movement his lips are pressed to yours while his hands are firm on your hips holding you in place. You of course, try to push him away but he's too strong.
"What the fuck?!"

------------------
Calum had known that Ostara would be coming back to the kingdom for the whole summer, and he’d thought he’d be prepared to see her. He’d never not been prepared before, but, when his eyes landed on the blonde standing in the kitchen, he realized he had not been ready for the sight in front of him.
They hadn’t seen each other in years. She’d gone off to boarding school and straight to university after. Calum had always figured that she’d stayed away on purpose, after all, the younger Irwin had never been a fan of being a Princess.
When Ashton had told his friends that she’d be coming home for the kingdoms centennial celebration, the boys had been surprised. However, when Ashton mentioned that, in part, it was due to his parents deciding it was finally time for Ostara to begin courting all the princes who would be in the city for the celebration, it made a bit more sense.
Calum had scrolled through her insta and had been shocked to see how much she’d grown, how much she’d changed. He’d had to admit to himself that she got hot. Long blonde hair, pretty green eyes, honey coloured skin and an adorable splatter of freckles across her little, upturned nose, she was still the girl he’d grown up with, but she’d glowed up in a big way.
Seeing her in person was entirely different.
Somehow, she was even prettier when not contained by the four sided walls of an instagram post. Which didn’t quite make sense to the young prince. But as his eyes scanned up her body, taking in the cute floral yellow skirt and the little white crop top, he couldn’t breathe.
She turned and seemed to notice him for the first time, an easy, dimpled smile appearing on her face, “Calum!” she exclaimed, setting down the bag of chips she’d managed to steal from the palace pantry. She moved around the island table quickly, throwing her arms around the tall prince who immediately embraced her, breathing in the scent that he’d all but forgotten, and not realized how much he’d missed.
As he set her down, he opened his mouth to say something, but was cut off by a loud “there she is!” as his friends walked into the kitchen behind him.
“Leave it to Cal to find the only girl in the house.” Michael teased, pulling Ostara into a hug and away from Calum, whose body mourned her of its own accord.
“How’ve you been?” Luke asked, getting his turn next.
“Busy.” Ostara answered, which was so classic that it made Calum smile.
“Busy bee.” Ashton said, finally getting a turn to hug his little sister.
She grinned against his shoulder and the other princes in the room watched the happy reunion, “when did you get in?” Ashton asked when he set Ostara down.
“A little while ago, I would have messaged but… well, thought you’d enjoy the surprise.” she shrugged, hands settling on her hips to look at everyone, “shit, you guys got tall.”
“It wouldn’t be such a shock if you actually came home for Christmas.” Ashton said, jabbing at her ribcage as Ostara swatted his hand away.
“You know why I haven't.” Ostara tutted, “besides, I face time you like every day.”
Ashton opened his mouth to say something when a servant entered the kitchen, “Princess Ostara you’re needed in your parents office.”
Ostara groaned and Ashton chuckled, “good luck.”
She brushed past him and grabbed her bag of chips, glaring at her brother, “ha ha.”
They watched her leave, Calum’s gaze drawn down, and once she was gone everyone turned to look at Ashton who held up his hands, pointing at the hot blooded males around him, “if any of you say it-”
“Your sister got hot.” Luke stated.
Ashton shoved at Luke who chuckled and moved away.
“What’s the deal with Ostara and your parents anyways?” Michael asked, opening the fridge to grab a beer.
“They have this whole thing about her finding a suitor, it’s very old fairy tale of them if you ask me.” Ashton said, pushing past Michael to find something to eat. He settled on an apple, taking a bite.
“Shit, I heard about that.” Luke said, “my mom mentioned it to me a few days ago.”
“How did that come up?” Calum laughed.
“I think they’re hoping if they force us to date she’ll calm me down or something.” Luke said. Calum could feel his blood go cold.
Ashton froze, turning to look at his friend, “force you to date? What the fuck are you talking about?”
“I thought I mentioned that.” Luke shrugged, “doesn’t mean much to me. She’s your little sister man, I’m not that much of a dick.”
-----
“Aren’t you supposed to be on a date with Luke?” Calum asked as soon as the blonde entered the kitchen.
Ostara rolled her eyes, walking past Calum who was all but guarding the fridge, a beer in his hand, “can you even really call it a date? It’s a parentaly forced hang out.”
“Did they teach you words like ‘parentaly’ at your fancy university?” Calum grinned.
“Yes.” Ostara snapped but she was grinning, “what are you drinking?”
Before Calum could answer, she grabbed the bottle from his hand, taking a swig and making Calum chuckle, “and now you drink too?” he mused.
“A lot has changed.” Ostara pointed out, looking at the beer, “this is good.”
“Yeah, which is why it’s mine.” Calum said, trying to grab the bottle back but the smaller girl danced away.
“Pretty sure this is my palace Hood, which makes this my beer.” she took another drink, “when did this place become such a frat house?”
“Ash invited us for the summer, besides, you have the whole extra palace anyways.” Calum pointed out.
“Yeah, my extra palace.” Ostara pointed out, “which I usually get all to myself and Ashton, except now it’s run rampant princes.”
“You say that like its a bad thing.” Calum smirked, going to the fridge again to find another beer to replace the one Ostara had taken.
“It is when princes are the thing I’ve been avoiding for years.” Ostara said, leaning against the kitchen counter.
“Why is that?” Calum asked, crossing his arms over his broad chest as he studied the younger Irwin.
“It just feels weird, the expectation, and all you princes are the same-”
“Ouch.” Calum laughed, “I assume you mean like Luke.”
“Well he has been the one in the tabloids recently.” Ostara pointed out.
“We’re not all like him, you know that.” Calum said, “was the date that bad?”
“Don’t call it a date, and yes.” Ostara said, lifting herself up to sit on the kitchen counter, she kicked her legs absentmindedly, “did you know that he has this compulsion to check out every ass that walks past him?”
“Yeah he does that.” Calum chuckled.
“And you don’t?”
He grinned, “no.”
“So you weren’t checking out my ass when I left the kitchen yesterday?”
Calum’s heart thumped, had she caught him?
“I’m kidding.” Ostara laughed, “god, lighten up, I’m still me Cal.”
He took a deep breath, studying the little mischievous glint in her green eyes that had been there since they were kids, “sure you are.”
-----
“Two days in a row, starting to think you’re stalking me Hood.” Ostara said when the prince entered the kitchen.
“We both just like the kitchen, that’s not a crime.” Calum shrugged, “you’re dressed up.”
“Had another ‘date’.” Ostara said, grabbing ice cream from the fridge. She sat up on the kitchen counter, the place that Calum was already viewing as her spot.
“Was it as bad as Luke’s?” Calum snuck a glance at her from over his shoulder as he reached into the fridge.
“Hmm, comparable.” Ostara said, sticking a spoon into the frozen dessert which she proceeded to lick clean.
“What was wrong with this guy?”
“Prince Shawn is nice-”
“He’s a softie.” Calum rolled his eyes, “definitely not your type.”
Ostara scoffed, “oh yeah? And what’s my type Hood? If you’re such an expert.”
He shrugged, “just… not prince Shawn.”
------
“So this is what? Five days in a row of dates?” Calum chuckled when Ostara entered the kitchen, setting her purse on the counter before finding a banana to eat as she lifted herself onto the table.
“Like I said, you’re a stalker.” Ostara groaned, kicking off her high heels which Calum dodged, grabbing a beer that he passed to her.
“I’m starting to think you’re just picky.”
“And what about it?” Ostara shrugged, “so what if a girl’s got taste?”
Calum smirked, “nothing wrong with that.”
“Hey aren’t you getting pimped out too?” Ostara asked, biting into her banana, “when are you ever going to tell me about your shitty dates?”
“I don’t have shitty dates.”
“Yeah, cuz I never see you going on any.” Ostara teased.
“I’m just… I don’t know,” Calum sighed, “not a fan of the whole PR dating thing.”
“Right, and I am?” Ostara rolled her eyes.
They both knew why Calum could get away with no pr relationships, the same way Ashton could. They were the eldest sons. The only reason Luke got wrangled into it was because he was the third child, just as Ostara was the second. They would never have a crown, unless they married into it, and they were good candidates for royal courtship. Royals married royals. That was known.
“Do you really want to hear about my bad dates?” Calum asked, running a hand through his hair.
“Yes!” Ostara exclaimed.
“I have one later tonight-”
“You have to tell me all about it when you get back.” Ostara stated.
“Hmm, not sure when it will be over-”
“Then give me your number, text me.” Ostara suggested, pulling out her phone.
Calum shrugged, taking her phone and punching in his contact info, “there.” he said, handing back her phone. He watched as she corrected his name from ‘Cal’ to ‘his highness’ and he couldn't help but smile.
Ostara put her phone away, “I can’t be the only one with a shit love life around here.”
Calum chuckled, “at least you’re not Luke.”
“Yeah, you’re right, that would be worse.”
---------
Calum’s knee bobbed up and down, his eyes fixed on the brunette who was going on about all the parties she’d been to in the past month. Gnawing at his lip, Calum tried to remain focused, but for some reason, his eyes kept straying away from the puffed up lips, protruding fillers and bodacious bust that every princess seemed to have. He wondered if they all went to the same surgeon.
The small buzz of his phone captured Calum’s attention and the girl followed his eyes, sighing, “do you need to look at that?” she asked.
“Uh, yeah, one sec.” Calum mumbled, picking up his phone to scan the screen. It was his friend group chat, the one with Luke, Ash and Michael.
Someone had sent a picture of Prince Liam and it looked like the other boys were tearing the guy to shreds. Calum quickly tried to get caught up in the convo, realizing that Ashton had originally sent the picture with the caption ‘future brother in law? I think the FUCK not.’
As if he hadn’t already been distracted by Ostara this entire date and now his friends were discussing her possible suitors? And Liam was not the kind of guy Calum wanted Ostara to be going out with. Sure, out of his gang of friends, Liam was… suitable, definitely better than others, but it just didn’t sit right with Calum.
“Is something wrong?” the brunette asked.
“What?” Calum looked up.
“You’re frowning.”
“Am I?”
“Yeah.”
Calum took one last look at the phone, eyes scanning a text from Michael that read ‘fuck that guy’ and then Calum turned off his phone, “sorry.”
“You seem distracted.” the brunette mused.
Calum sighed, “yeah, sorry-”
“I’ll get the cheque.”
Calum opened his mouth to argue but then stopped. It was true. It he didn’t want to be at that table with that princess. He wanted to be back at the palace, preferably in the kitchen, preferably with a blonde, preferably last named Irwin, preferably female-
His thoughts were cut off by the waiter who had returned with the bill, Calum pulled out his wallet, throwing some bills on the table. He stood up, mumbling a quick ‘sorry’ before he all but ran from the restaurant.
Calum made it back to the palace in record time, going to the kitchen immediately.
It was empty. Calum’s heart sank in his chest.
He pulled out his phone, looking at Ostara’s contact for a few moments before he began to type: ‘Back from my date.’
The little messaging bubble popped up almost immediately and Calum’s heart lurched in his chest while he waited.
‘We’re at the firepit, come join.’
Calum sighed. He’d been hoping to catch her alone. It was almost a ritual by now, one on one talks in the kitchen about bad dates. He didn’t really feel like disclosing the information about the bad dates with the guys. He didn’t want to have to share his attention. To hide the fact that his eyes would want to be on Ostara and no one else. It was something he’d already began to notice, the way he felt he had to act differently, to control himself, whenever Ostara and the boys were in the same place.
He couldn’t be open about how much he enjoyed the younger Irwin.
He knew Ashton would not be happy about it.
Hell, if Luke thought dating Ostara would be a shitty bro move, that meant something.
Calum sighed, grabbing two beers from the fridge absentmindedly, then he walked outside towards the firepit.
The sound of voices greeted him as he came around the corner, eyes landing on the group of people all lounging in lawn chairs around the firepit. Ashton noticed him first “where’s your date?” he called with a grin.
Calum rolled his eyes, going to sit by Luke who had pulled up a chair for him. “This for me?” Luke asked, taking the second beer from Calum before he could respond. The beer had been for Ostara Calum realized, but he wasn’t about to fight it, especially not in front of Ashton.
“So spill.” Ostara said, making Calum’s attention flicker to her for the first time. He’d been avoiding looking at her, but he figured he was allowed to address her after she’d asked him a direct question.
But now he had to figure out how to explain why the brunette had not been a good date. He had to come up with a reason that wasn't the truth: that she wasn’t Ostara.
“Uh, she was just really-” he thought about it, was trash talking another princess in front of Ostara a good idea? “We just didn’t vibe.”
“Isn’t this the girl who gave you a handy at the last banquet?” Michael asked, popping some chips into his mouth.
“That chick!” Luke said, snapping his fingers, “she’s a fox.”
Calum could feel his skin heating up, hot against the cool night air, and not because of the close proximity of the fire. “Yeah, that’s her.” he admitted, throat feeling thick as he swallowed and avoided looking at Ostara. He’d only half forgotten about that, he’d been very high.
“You guys vibed okay that night.” Ashton pointed out.
“Did her technique get worse?” Michael asked in confusion.
“She didn’t- we were in a restaurant.” Calum stated, taking a deep breath.
“So?” Luke grinned.
“Yeah, wouldn’t be the craziest place you’ve ever-” Michael began and Calum groaned loudly.
“Shut up Michael.” Calum commanded.
“You guys are so mean to him.” Ostara tutted and Calum offered her a half smile. She could feel how uncomfortable he was and Ostara had been raised to navigate awkwardness like a professional, so she easily changed the topic and Calum thanked god for her, “what are you guys wearing to the ball on Friday?”
“Velvet.” Luke answered immediately.
“Oooh!” Ostara leaned in, “what colour?”
“Red.”
“Wow, you really like to stand out don’t you?” Ostara teased.
“He’s six foot four, he always stands out.” Michael stated.
“I’m six’ two at best.” Luke insisted.
“Liar.” Ashton laughed.
“What are you wearing?” Calum asked before he could help himself, curiosity getting the better of him.
Ostara’s green eyes met his, “a lady never tells.”
“Fucking tease.” Luke muttered, earning a shove from Ashton.
Calum tried not to look at Ostara but she looked so cute, bundled up in an oversized red flannel. She looked so relaxed, so comfortable, so happy. He realized he had been staring a moment too long and tore his eyes away, looking instead at Ashton who was chatting with Michael about whether or not Michael would ditch the ball all together.
Calum’s heart was thumping in his chest and although he appeared to be listening in on the conversation, his brain was occupied with other thoughts.
He’d told Ostara that not all princes were like Luke, and yet it had just been made painfully clear that in some ways, they were. He regretted letting the brunette princess give him a handy under the table at that banquet. But, as much as he hated to think it, above all, he regretted the fact that it hadn’t been Ostara who had been the one to do it.
------
The days leading up to the ball were tense for Calum. He’d pretty much accepted the fact that he was a terrible friend and a terrible person.
He’d accepted the fact that he was lusting after his best friends sister.
He’d tried to avoid her at first but that had proved to be impossible, they both just loved the kitchen too much.
And then there was the fact that all any of them wanted to do was lounge by the pool. Calum couldn’t just stay in his room all day, that would have been boring and suspicious. So he found himself sitting in the shade with Michael, trying not to look at Ostara as she did her morning laps or tanned on a floaty.
It was very uncomfortable for him, fighting the ever incessant urge to sneak a peak even though he knew what negative effects it would have on him, in certain places in particular.
It didn’t help that Ostara was a happy, chatty girl who was always ready to ask him how his day was going any time they bumped into each other somewhere on the grounds. Calum didn’t want to be cold, but he didn’t want to be too warm either.
So he’d made an impulsive decision. Something that would keep him out of the palace for a while. He’d decided to go dye his hair.
It had seemed like a good idea at the time, and it was a good reason to avoid Ostara after. When she’d caught wind of what he was doing she’d messaged him ‘send me pics!’ and he’d replied with ‘hair reveal at the ball’ a text that he had stared at and hated himself for hours afterwards. But, he had justified not seeing her for three days and of course Ostara had respected his want to ‘drop a big reveal’ and had purposefully been avoiding him to not ruin the surprise. Which only seemed to make him adore her even more.
Getting ready for the ball was a chore. The four princes all had custom suits and they dicked around, drank, and chatted while getting ready in Ashton’s room. Try as he might to get involved in the conversation, all Calum could think about was what Ostara would be wearing.
Calum downed a shot, feeling the pleasant buzz wash over him. He was not about to go to a ball sober and he knew he was playing with fire. He knew that with lowered inhibitions, he could end up in high water fast, but he just couldn’t find it within himself to go to the event without being at least slightly tipsy.
He’d been mentally preparing to see Ostara dance with other princes.
He hoped that this time, he’d be ready for the view.
----
Again, Calum was wrong. Seeing Ostara jump from prince to prince hurt his soul. Watching hands that were not his caress her waist, covered in a soft looking, baby pastel yellow silk dress, made Calum’s fists clench at his sides. The way she smiled, looking so graceful and so princess-like… it was making Calum’s head spin, or perhaps that was the glass of whiskey in his hand?
Calum noticed prince Liam noticing Ostara and somehow his blood got even hotter. Especially as Liam began walking over when the song ended. Liam was upon Ostara within moments and although Liam may have missed the small micro expression that crossed her face as she turned to look at him, Calum didn’t.
He drank the rest of his drink, clenching his jaw as he set down the glass. By the time he looked up again, a new song had started and Liam had Ostara pressed to his chest.
“Look at that douchebag.” Michael stated from next to him.
Calum said nothing.
“One of us should go save her.” Michael continued, “Ashton looks pissed.”
Calum looked over at Ashton who was busy dancing, but his eyes were on his sister and Liam. “i’ll do it.” Calum stated, moving forward immediately.
He maneuvered through the crowd, eyes on his prize. His tattooed hand reached out on it’s own accord, tapping the prince on the shoulder, “wait your turn mate.” Liam said.
“Nah.” Calum responded, “think I’ll cut in now.”
Ostara’s hands were already moving from Liam to Calum’s broad shoulders and Liam didn’t try to fight it, sighing loudly before removing himself completely. Calum watched him leave and then turned to finally meet Ostara’s gaze.
“Your hair looks amazing.” she stated, “and thanks for saving me.”
“Was wondering if you were gonna come and say hi earlier.” Calum admitted.
“I wanted to! But my parents said I had to dance the first six dances for appearances or something.” Ostara frowned.
“So this is your last dance then you’re done.”
“Have you been stalking me again Hood?” Ostara laughed.
Shit. He had to stop just saying what was on his mind.
“Your dress is nice.” he said, changing the topic. It was just as silky under his touch as he’d imagined it would be. Ostara’s hand gave his a little squeeze, her fingers dancing over his shoulder and sending electricity running through his body.
“Thanks. You don’t look so bad yourself.”
She could feel his breath against her face and with their chests all but pressed together, she could also just imagine that his heart was racing as fast as hers was. His eyes were a deep, beautiful brown and she was finding herself lost in them.
And the hair? Yeah, she was feeling it.
They both just looked at each other for a few moments in silence, Calum’s gaze flickered down and Ostara’s heart lurched in her chest. They were so close, it would be so easy to-
The song ended and Ostara caught movement of her brother walking over from behind Calum, so she pulled herself away, feeling her skin flush as she looked down.
“That Liam guy is a fuck.” Ashton stated, “thanks for stepping in Cal.” Ashton said, patting his friend on the back.
“Don’t mention it.” Calum said stiffly.
“Gotta talk to my sister about her choice in men, give us a sec.” Ashton said.
Calum didn’t question it, turning and leaving without so much as another word. He made his way to the bar where Michael caught up to him, “what the fuck was that?”
“Vodka.” Calum said to the bartender, leaning against the table top instead of looking at his friend, “what was what?”
“You and Ostara were dancing pretty fucking close don’t you think?”
“Lower your voice.” Calum hissed.
“I fucking knew it!” Michael said, voice low but still full of the arrogant ‘i told you so’ tone.
“Knew what?” Calum continued to play dumb, handing a bill to the bartender in return for his quick drink.
“You’ve been weird since Ostara showed up.” Michael said, “I thought maybe it was just because there’s a girl or whatever, but it’s because you like her, isn’t it?”
“Yes Michael. I have a big, fat crush on Ash’s little sister.” Calum said sarcastically, shooting his drink.
Michael laughed, “fuck man, you’re in so deep.”
He was. Calum knew it. And if Michael noticed, then it was only a matter of time until Luke or Ashton noticed, and the former had a big mouth so as soon as the cat was out of the bag with one, it would be game over with the other.
Calum turned around, leaning his back against the bar. His eyes searched before his brain registered what he was doing, finding the gorgeous blonde just as she slipped from the ballroom.
“Don’t even think about-” Michael began but once again, Calum was already moving, chasing after the Princess like a lost puppy.
His pace quickened, eager to catch the girl before she disappeared into one of the many rooms in the palace, never to be found again. Calum remembered playing hide and seek as children, Ostara had always managed to disappear, not that the boys had ever actually looked. Hide and seek had been more of an excuse to get her to piss off at the time, but not anymore.
He heard her heels clicking against the marble floor and followed the sound, turning a corner just as she slipped from view. Calum groaned, running down the hallway to follow, “Ostara!”
She turned and looked at him, “Calum?”
He caught up to her finally, not sure what to even say. All he knew was that his heart was racing, from the running or the booze or maybe the beautiful girl standing in front of him giving him her full attention.
Calum realized in that moment that his fears of losing inhibitions while tipsy were well merited. His hands reached out and cupped Ostara’s face, eyes searching hers momentarily for a reaction in case he was going bat shit crazy and she didn’t want him to kiss her.
But when her eyes went to his lips, he knew that he had the green light.
He moved forward, pressing his lips against hers. Ostara’s hands found his chest as she moved closer, kissing back immediately. Calum’s tongue swiped across her bottom lip and Ostara’s mouth opened eagerly, tasting the liquor on his tongue. His teeth teased her, nipping into the lipstick stained kiss.
Ostara’s hand moved from his chest to his shoulders and then to his neck, locking him close to her as if she never wanted to let go. One of Calum’s hands left her face, going down to the small of her back, teasing just above the cute bum he wanted to grab so badly.
His grip tightened and Ostara smiled against his lips, happiness contagious as Calum laughed slightly, eyes opening to look at the beautiful girl in his arms. Her fingers played with his hair, tugging slightly as he brought his lips down on hers again.
His hand slipped lower, finally grabbing her ass as she moaned into his mouth. The noise made Calum groan too as he felt his pants getting tighter, the front of their bodies rubbing against each other in an effort to do the impossible and get somehow even closer.
“Ostara!” Ashton’s voice rang out in the hall and the couple jumped away from each other. Ostara’s eyes widened as she looked at Calum immediately wiping at his mouth to get rid of the lipstick covering his face. Likewise, Calum brushed at her mouth which was also smudged with red.
“Shit.” Calum muttered as the sound of footsteps got louder.
“You need to go.” Ostara whispered.
“What?”
Ostara’s small hands grabbed at the front of Calum’s suit, dragging him to a door to a side room, she shoved him inside before he could argue.
Calum stared at the closed door, heart racing in his chest.
“There you are!” he heard Ashton’s voice, “what the fuck happened to your mouth?”
“I wiped my lipstick by accident cuz I’m dumb.” came a quick and easy answer.
No argument from Ashton on that subject.
“What’s up? Im going to go fix this-” Ostara continued.
“Mom and dad said if you want to leave you have to say goodnight to a few people first.”
“They said six dances and I’m done-”
“Yeah but they still want you to say bye.”
“Okay, I’ll be right there, just gotta head to my room first-”
“I’ll come with, need to talk to you about that Liam guy.” Ashton stated.
Calum’s heart sunk as he heard retreating footsteps. He was so screwed.
----
He’d gone back to his room immediately after to take a cold shower.
He’d paced, eyes flickering to his phone obsessively, waiting for a text that never came.
He’d considered going to her room, sneaking out in the dead of night to go profess his adoration like some prince from the fairy tales, the type of guy she deserved.
Sleep had been difficult to come by, and every time he closed his eyes, images of her danced across his vision like a bewitching goddess demanding his devotion.
At six AM Calum rolled out of bed, pulling on sweats and a plain white t shirt. He set off to the kitchen, hoping for some coffee to get his day started.
Calum was rubbing at his eyes when he entered the room, groaning then removing his hands, he stopped in his tracks. Of course Ostara was in the kitchen.
Standing over a pan with an egg in it, dressed in the tiniest little matching white and yellow starred sleeping shorts and crop top Calum had ever seen, her blonde hair pulled into a messy bun, she took his breath away.
Her green eyes moved up to meet his and her skin immediately flushed all pretty and pink.
“Hey.” Calum croaked, voice low and sleepy.
“Hey.” she retorted. Silence settled over the kitchen and then: “coffee?” she pushed forward a french press that was half full.
“Yeah.” Calum shuffled forward, grabbing a mug then pouring himself the drink. Ostara tried not to watch the beautiful way his tattooed hand wrapped around the white ceramic, all large and perfect-
“Not great.” Calum smiled, leaning against the counter next to her while she cooked, “cute outfit.”
He was enjoying making her blush.
“Oh my god.” Ostara groaned, setting down the spatula she had in her hand so she could cover her face.
Calum smirked, “what?”
“Stop that.”
“Stop what?”
She peaked at him through her fingers, “that! Being cute.”
“If you don’t want to see me looking like this, maybe you should close your eyes.” Calum suggested.
“What?”
“Don’t you trust me?”
“No.” Ostara laughed.
“Your loss.” Calum shrugged, sipping at his coffee.
Ostara groaned in exasperation, turning the stove off before she looked at Calum one last time, closing her eyes. Calum set down his coffee and Ostara said “now what?”
“God, be patient.” Calum tutted, squaring his shoulders as he turned to her fully.
He studied her for a moment. Taking in her pretty pink lips, the dimples already showing as she smiled with excitement, her long lashes, the way strands of blonde hair had escaped her bun to frame her face.
His hand came up to brush one of the strands behind her ear and Ostara flinched slightly, one eye peeking open at him, Calum laughed, “eyes closed.” he whispered, caressing her cheekbone with his thumb as his hand came to cup her face.
Ostara let out a shaky breath, following his command. Once Calum was sure her eyes were closed, his thumb that had been on her cheekbone moved down to her lips, brushing the bottom one, pulling it down slightly, “so pretty.” he whispered.
Ostara’s heart was racing in her chest, body anticipating the warmth that Calum’s mouth would bring, the electricity that she knew would erupt over her skin like wildfire.
Being completely at his mercy was torturous, her hands fidgeted at her sides, not knowing what to do with themselves while she waited.
The first kiss was soft, a mere brushing, a tease. Ostara moved in for more immediately and Calum pulled away, she could hear his smile, “eyes closed.” he reminded her as if he could read her mind, knowing that she was dying to look at him.
His thumb stroked her cheek as he kissed her again, lips moulding against hers as he finally allowed her to melt into the kiss, her fingers going down to the waistband of his grey sweats to pull him closer.
He enjoyed cupping her face. It felt right. It felt intimate. It showed everything he was feeling but unable to verbalize. It proved how much she meant to him. How much he cared. His need for her to feel safe and protected-
Music flooded through the kitchen and for the second time in a day the pair pulled away. Luke always walked around blaring music from his phone like an obnoxious prick, and he entered the kitchen moments later, stopping to look at Calum and Ostara who acted innocent, standing a few feet away from each other, Calum sipping on his coffee while Ostara grabbed a plate to put her egg on.
“You two look suspicious.” Luke stated.
“Says you, why are you even awake, its early.” Calum fired back.
“Touche.” Luke sighed, “have another PR date thing.”
“You mean you’re cheating on me?” Ostara said in mock shock.
“No baby, I would never.” Luke stated, sounding offended.
Calum’s jaw clenched at the pet name.
“I’m going back to my room.” Ostara announced, “you two have fun.”
Calum tried not to look at her bum as she left the room but it was so cute and perfect in her little star shorts, besides, Luke was looking too which pissed him off… but, Calum knew he wouldn’t get caught.
Luke turned back to look at Calum, “at this point Ashton should be thanking god that I’m a good friend, because she’s cute as fuck.”
-----
The noon sun was hot and piercing, the royals only leaving the air conditioned comfort of the palace to hang by the pool. Luke was still not back from whatever errand his family had sent him on, which left Calum, Michael, Ashton and Ostara to their own devices.
Laying in the sun, Ostara was reading, while the other three tossed a ball around in the pool.
“So bored.” Michael groaned.
“This used to be so much fun when we were kids, what changed?” Ashton agreed.
“When we were kids we’d play chicken which I fucking bet you is still fun.” Michael pointed out, “fucking wish Luke was here.”
Ashton’s gaze shifted to his sister, “Ostara get in the water.”
“Hmm?” she asked, having not been paying attention.
“We’re playing chicken, come get on my shoulders.” Ashton commanded.
Michael and Calum looked between the siblings, “I’m not going to shove your sister-” Michael began.
“It will be fine.” Ashton assured him, waving his hand, “Ostara get in here or I will drag you in.”
Ostara sighed, closing her book, she knew Ashton would follow through with the threat.
When she stood up, Calum got the nicest view of her cute little pineapple print bikini. The girl had a thing for prints, but she always made it work, and Calum’s heart was soft as fuck.
She waded into the pool and Ashton approached, bending down so his sister could get onto his shoulders, “I hate you.” she stated.
“You better fucking win or I’m disowning you.” he warned her.
Meanwhile, Michael had gotten on Calum’s shoulders and everyone had gone to the deep end of the pool to make it easier.
“Michael-” Ashton began.
“If I touch her chest I’m dead, I know.” Michael said, “it’s not fair.”
“What’s not fair is the fact that you have like forty pounds on her.” Ashton pointed out, “okay, three, two, one.”
The chicken fight started and everyone began to laugh as Michael and Ostara hesitantly pushed at each other. It was obvious that the two most dominant, competitive guys where Calum and Ashton, both of whom egged on their partners to “fucking push him already!”
Calum felt kind of bad, just kind of, when Michael managed to shove Ostara into the water. She came up sputtering, slicking her hair back as beads of water rolled off her glistening, sun kissed skin, a massive smile on her face as she laughed.
In that moment Calum knew he had to calm the fuck down, or he wouldn’t be able to get out of the pool. Calum’s heart was racing and Ostara stated “again!”
Before Calum could object, she was scrambling onto her brothers shoulders to fight Michael once more.
Calum tried not to look at her, tried not to notice the glistening water droplets adorning her body like jewels, jewels that he would buy her, jewels he would bathe her in if it meant he could even so much as hold her hand.
Calum let Ostara push Michael into the water and when Michael surfaced a flurry of curses left his mouth as he shoved at Calum, “fuck off! You let her win you asshole!”
They gave up after that, Ostara once more leaving the pool to continue tanning. Once Calum knew he had calmed down enough, he joined her, laying next to her on the large beach towel. He didn’t say anything, staring up at the cloudless sky, just enjoying the feeling of being close to her.
A few minutes later Ashton sat between them and guilt panged through Calum’s chest.
“Don’t you have another date soon?” Ashton asked.
“Fuck what time is it?” Ostara shut her book quickly.
“Two thirty.”
“Fuck.” Ostara jumped up quickly and ran to the house, Calum frowned.
----
Calum paced outside the restaurant.
He’d taken one look at the outfit Ostara was wearing as she ran from the palace and he’d been blinded. The short, red silk dress had practically knocked him off of his feet, and he’d be damned if he let her slip through his fingers to whoever she had a date with that day.
Calum knew he was about to be the biggest dick in the entire universe.
He knew he was overstepping… probably.
But as seemed to always be the case with Ostara, he couldn’t fucking help himself.
Calum took a deep breath and entered the restaurant, stopping as the hostess immediately looked at him in shock, “I’m here to meet people, Ostara Irwin?”
The girl nodded, “follow me.”
The restaurant was high class and the hostess led Calum to a booth in the back where Ostara was sitting with a Prince that Calum recognized immediately.
“Calum!” Harry grinned as Ostara said “Calum?!” in shock.
Harry even stood up to give the younger prince a hug, “been a while mate, how’ve you been?”
“Good.” Calum said, “You?”
“Been great.” Harry smirked, sitting down, “you joining us?”
“I’m sure he’s not-” Ostara began but Calum had already sat into the booth next to her.
“Suppose you’re here to chaperone for Ashton? Knew that guy didn’t like me.” Harry chuckled.
“He’s got high standards for his sister.” Calum stated.
“I get that.” Harry nodded, “what’s your poison mate?”
A waiter was waved over and Calum and Harry both ordered shots to lighten the mood, even though Calum knew that not even the light of god himself would persuade Calum to be even remotely inviting.
After about ten minutes of Calum being cold, Ostara stated “Harry, I’m just going to talk to Calum for a second, need to call my brother and tell him not to be such an ass.”
“Take your time pet, I don’t mind.” Harry said warmly, confidence oozing off of him.
Ostara turned to look at Calum who stood up and let her lead him to the hall that led to the private bathrooms. “Okay, listen here-” Ostara began but Calum grabbed her hand and pulled her into one of the private bathrooms, not wanting anyone to witness the altercation.
He locked the door behind them and finally turned to the fuming blonde, “you can’t just crash my dates! You are not my big brother and you’re sure as fuck not my boyfriend either.”
“Let’s change that.” Calum stated.
“What?!” she looked taken aback for a moment.
“I said,” he grabbed her face, looking into her eyes, “let’s change that.”
She wanted to be angry. She did. But damn it if she didn’t understand where he was coming from.
Her heart was racing as he looked into her eyes, waiting for a reaction, waiting for acceptance or rejection.
Ostara’s fingers tangled in his dyed blonde hair, dragging his mouth down on hers.
Their teeth clashed but neither cared, too enraptured in the intense passion that had surrounded their hearts, burning hot through their veins as they grabbed at each other, desperate for contact. Calum pivoted, shoving Ostara against the door as his hands pushed up at the red silk dress, fingers dancing over every new milimeter of exposed skin.
His thigh pressed up between her legs and Ostara moaned into his mouth, setting Calum’s heart racing impossibly faster.
His digits made contact with something lacey and he groaned into her mouth, beginning to drag down the flimsy material of her thong but Ostara grabbed at his wrist, tearing it away as she pushed at his chest.
Calum removed himself, breathing heavily as he looked at her, taking in the red smeared lipstick that covered the area surrounding her mouth yet again.
She was flushed, back pressed against the door, eyes slightly hooded as she stared at him, chest heaving, dress still shoved up to her waist. Calum snuck a glance down, satisfied that the lacy thong was black, but it just made him want to grab her again. She pulled down her dress, tearing her eyes from him as she looked at herself in the mirror. “Fuck.” she cussed, wiping furiously at her face.
“Here, let me-” Calum stepped forward.
“I’m on a date Calum.” Ostara stated, shoulders falling in defeat, “and you’re my brothers best friend-”
Calum stopped moving, looking at Ostara.
He watched her remove all the lipstick from her face, not saying another word as she left, shutting the bathroom door behind her to leave Calum to his thoughts.
It was obvious to Harry as soon as Ostara returned that something had happened, after all, a girl doesn’t just spontaneously remove her pretty red lipstick that matched her dress perfectly.
“So you and Cal huh?” Harry grinned.
“Fuck I’m so sorry-”
“No, it’s fine love, don’t worry about me, but I am a little surprised that you’re going on dates when you two are obviously-”
“We’re not together.” Ostara stated.
“Hmm.” Harry looked her over, “could have fooled me pet.”
“He’s my brothers best friend-”
“So he should be well suited, doubt your brothers gonna be mates with assholes.” Harry mused, leaning back in his seat as he studied the obviously conflicted girl in front of him, “and if he doesn’t like it then fuck him.”
“It doesn’t work that way-”
“You’re a princess, he’s a prince, this is the only way this sort of thing works love and we both know it.”
----
“Okay, so do you live in this kitchen or what?!” Ostara practically screamed as her eyes landed on the familiar strong shoulders hunched over while Calum grabbed a beer from the fridge.
“I was here first this time.” Calum stated, still looking in the fridge, “how was the rest of your date?”
“I-” Ostara began but stopped when Ashton and Luke entered the room, “okay there are so many fucking rooms in this palace, why is everyone always in the goddamned kitchen?!”
“What’s got your panties in a knot?” Luke said, moving away from Ashton who tried to shove him.
Calum’s heart clenched and Ostara laughed at the irony that was lost on everyone but her and Calum. He had her panties in a knot. Or at least he had the hour before. “You know what, I’m going to bed. Goodnight.”
“Its like five.” Ashton stated.
Ostara left the room, “I don’t care!”
----
Before Ostara even opened her door she knew who it would be. She’d been expecting Calum to turn up, they obviously had unfinished business and Calum had been on edge all day.
As the large door swung open to reveal Ostara standing there in a black, long sleeved, sleeping button up with with cartoon pumpkins on it, Calum hated himself for still thinking she was the prettiest girl in the entire world. It brushed her mid thigh and Calum couldn’t tell if she was wearing shorts underneath, his hands twitching as they itched to reach out and discover the answer.
Ostara didn’t say anything, simply moved to the side to let him in and close the door.
“We need to talk about Ashton.” Calum stated.
“Do we though?” Ostara groaned.
Calum looked her up and down, “you don’t want to talk about this?”
“Close your eyes.”
“Are you serious.”
“Don’t you trust me?”
Calum sighed, hearing his own words back at him, he realized how suave he had been that morning. Crossing his arms over his chest, Calum made a big show of closing his eyes.
“I still think we should talk about this.” Calum said.
He waited for an answer that never came.
Instead, Ostara grabbed his hands, pulling slightly to make Cal give in and uncross the arms that had been protecting him from what was to come.
Holding his hands at his sides delicately, Ostara swung them a little, looking up at the beautiful Prince whose eyes were still closed. He looked composed, the only thing betraying his inner anxieties was the rapid beat of his heart, the artery in his neck fluttering as he breathed in and out.
Ostara studied his pretty throat for a moment, stepping closer to allow his smokey smell to wash over her. She was a lot shorter than him, and she could just reach his neck with her lips, so that’s what she did.
She pressed a kiss to the skin just above his racing artery and Calum sucked in a breath, hands tensing in hers.
“Eyes closed.” she breathed against his neck, causing a shiver to run through his body. He swallowed thickly, adam’s apple bobbing in the most endearing way. Ostara kissed his throat again, parting her lips to allow her tongue to taste his skin, again, his heart beat faster.
Her teeth grazed the artery and Calum’s body jolted, hands tearing from Ostara’s so they could land on her ass, lifting her up before she could so much as scream in surprise. Her legs wrapped around Calum’s waist as she clung to his shoulders, about to object when his lips met hers and every word in her brain disappeared.
His kisses were hungry and desperate, tongue immediately sliding over her bottom lip before his teeth came down to gnaw at it teasingly. Suddenly she was falling, landing on the plush fur duvet that covered her king sized bed. Calum was on top of her, grinding down against her panty covered core as one hand slipped up her thigh, once more greated with lacy material.
He groaned into her mouth, excited to discover that she had, in fact, not been wearing shorts. For a brief moment he wondered if she’d planned this whole thing but he didn't dwell too long on the idea, too enraptured by the princess writhing underneath him.
His hips rocked, creating friction and pressure that made them both moaning messes in each others hands. Calum’s lips moved to Ostara’s neck and her fingers tangled in his hair, urging him on as he found the spot that made her toes curl, legs wrapping tighter around his waist.
Pushing himself up with one hand he looked at her shirt, admiring the fact that she was wearing a Halloween themed sleeping shirt in the summer. His fingers were almost shaking as he popped open the first button, then the second, then the third. With each newly exposed piece of skin it became more and more evident that she was first, not wearing a bra, and second, totally prepared for this. She was in control. This had been planned. Calum had fallen into her trap. And he didn’t mind one bit.
Once every button was undone, he teased the stripe of bare skin with a finger, paying extra attention to the area between her breasts as she watched, heart thundering with patient anticipation.
“Take this off for me princess.” he said, voice soft.
Pushing herself up slightly, Ostara wasted no time wiggling from the shirt. She already had goosebumps from his touch and she shivered as the fabric fell from her shoulders, exposing her to him for the first time as she lay back down.
One finger traced up from her belly button to her left breast, circling closer and closer until he brushed his knuckles over her nupple, “so pretty.” he mused as she pushed up towards his hand, eager for more.
“Please Cal.” she begged, the neediness in her voice was the sexiest thing Calum had ever heard in his entire life.
He kissed her mouth, then began his venture downwards, pressing soft kisses on her neck, then her collar bones. When his lips wrapped around her nipple, teeth teasing, his right hand fully massaged her other breast. Her fingers tangled in his hair as breathy moans rang through the room, Ostara’s back arching slightly in an effort to get him to do something, anything, more.
Calum’s lips continued downwards as he slipped from the bed, getting onto his knees as he pulled her to the edge, fingers hooking in the panties that he gingerly slid down her legs. Once they were discarded on the floor, Calum placed Ostara’s thighs on his shoulders, hands going to her hips to hold her down as he briefly enjoyed the view.
“Close your eyes.” he stated, “want you to feel all of this.”
Ostara’s breathing was ragged as Calum took a teasing lick, her right leg jerking slightly on his shoulder which made Calum smirk, fully putting his mouth onto her. His tongue flicked at her clit before sucking gently, earning breathy moans that egged him to go harder.
Her nails scratched against Calum’s scalp and he enjoyed the sensation, groaning a little, the vibrations made Ostara jolt again, her grip tightening in her hair. “Calum!” she whined loudly. As a reward for how pretty she sounded, Calum brought up a finger, sliding it inside of her easily and curling.
Her body reacted immediately and Calum knew from her whimpers, and the small tremors with each harsh suck, that she was close. He chased her high, having always felt entitled to a woman's orgasm. He knew he was good with his mouth and Calum refused to feel bad about that.
Adding another finger, he began to thrust his digits in and out even faster, curling each time to hit the spot that had Ostara’s back arching, hands pulling at Calum’s hair as the orgasm rippled through her body, lasting longer due to Calum’s continued motions as she whined and moaned, putty in his hands.
When her back touched against the mattress again to signify the complete end of her high, Calum pulled away, sucking his fingers into his mouth as he stood and pulled off his shirt.
Eyes closed, chest heaving, Ostara made Calum dizzy.
Calum was about to reach for a condom when four small words were spoken that nearly shattered Calum’s very existence: “I’m on the pill.”
‘I’m going to marry this girl.’
Calum pushed the thought away, kicking off his pants and boxers. Ostara’s legs opened for him, inviting the prince to get back on top of her as he pressed a kiss to her lips, “you alright?” he asked, her fingers immediately finding their place in his platinum hair again.
“Uh huh.” she breathed, one hand snaking between the two of them to grab the base of his cock, lining it up with her, all that was left to be done was for Calum to close the distance.
As he entered her they both moaned, lips attacking again with the same passion that always seemed to be present when they kissed.
The muscles in Calum’s shoulders tensed as he remained still for a moment to be sure she was ready for him to move, Ostara’s fingers dancing along the broad expanse of skin.
Her legs tightening around his waist was Calum’s cue to move as he pulled almost all the way out before snapping his hips forward again, entering fully. Her warmth cocooned him and he let out a throaty groan, “you’re so fucking tight.”
“You’re just big.” Ostara breathed against his lips, eager for more kisses as the prince began a quick pace.
Her nails dug into his scalp and shoulder, a reminder, on top of the sinful sounds leaving her lips, that he was making her feel good.
That’s when Calum remembered that, like most Princesses, Ostara had been forced into rhythmic gymnastics at a young age. He grabbed onto her thigh, moving it up slowly in case she had lost some flexibility. He was delighted when her leg went all the way up and over his shoulder, allowing him a new angle that had him going impossibly deep. They moaned louder and Calum moved back a little, lips mourning her loss but eyes adoring the new view.
His hand moved up on its own accord, sliding across her collarbones and up to her awaiting neck that she craned for him, welcoming him, giving him access.
The ring clad fingers of his left hand wrapped around her throat, giving a testing squeeze that only further excited them both, Ostara letting out the most sinful, whiney noise yet.
Calum’s stomach lurched and he knew that if she kept it up with those sounds, he would be cumming fast.
In an effort to slow the process, Calum began to remove his grip but suddenly Ostara was grabbing his forearm with both hands, forcing Calum’s chokehold to remain on her throat as her eyes opened, staring at him, more moans left her lips and Calum could feel her fluttering around him.
She was just as close as he was and it was the sexiest thing he’d ever seen.
All he could do was stare at the beautiful girl as his thrusts quickened and his grip tightened, chasing both of their highs with the determination of a king.
Cold rings bit into Ostara’s flesh and after a particularly deep thrust, another orgasm washed over her, taking Calum with it as they both moaned loudly, bodies awash with euphoria.
After the last aftershocks, Calum removed his hand from her throat and took her leg from his shoulder, letting it fall onto the bed as he pulled out of her and rolled onto his back next to her. Ostara immediately snuggled into his side, hand over his beating heart.
They stayed that way for a while, trying to catch their breaths.
Calum finally sighed, “do you want me to go?”
“You’re silly.” Ostara stated, voice breathy and happy. Her finger traced circles on Calum’s chest, “stay the night.”
-------
She was warm. Skin soft and beautiful under his delicate touch as Calum explored the curve of her shoulder and arm, bring goosebumps to her skin from the contact and the soft caress of his breath on her bare back.
There was a soft sigh of content and Calum smiled, “did I wake you?” he asked.
“Yeah, but it’s okay.” came a delicate response as Ostara snuggled back against Calum.
“Will you go to the ball with me next week?”
“Of course.” he could practically hear her sleepy smile.
“And I want to take you on a real date.” Calum stated.
“Hmm?”
“I want to do this right.”
Another happy sigh, “okay.”
-----
As soon as the limo door closed Calum looked at Ostara with wide eyes. They’d been papped leaving the restaurant and they both knew that this could be bad. Neither knew how Ashton would react when the pictures dropped, which they both knew they would.
Calum’s hand went to Ostara’s thigh, giving it a reassuring squeeze, “if he gets mad-”
“We can pretend we’re just friends-” Ostara began.
They both stopped.
They both knew that neither were good enough actors to get around this.
They’d known each other their whole lives.
They’d been flirting a few weeks.
They’d fucked and gone on an honest to god date.
Hell, Calum had pretty much asked Ostara to be his girlfriend in a fit of jealousy. They both knew they were in deep, and because of this, neither of them were particularly scared of Ashton anymore which was odd.
Ostara laced her fingers with Calum’s, “it’s going to be okay.”
Calum felt it too. Somehow, they knew they could make it work.
They both felt naive and stupid. They both knew they were being very narrow minded, but there was just something about the way that they fit that told them they belonged together.
They’d arrived at the palace when their phones began dinging, signalling the likelihood that the pictures were somehow already posted.
With a deep breath and a reassuring glance, the young couple entered the palace where they were almost immediately sabotaged by Ostara’s giggling older brother, “guys have you seen twitter?” he asked, “apparently people think you two are dating.”
His gaze lifted from his phone and that’s when he noticed how close the two were standing. The smile left his face, “is… is there a PR contract you two haven’t told me about-”
“Would it be that bad if we are dating?” Ostara asked.
Ashton’s gaze hardened, turning to his friend, “you have got to be fucking kidding me-”
“Ashton-” Ostara began, moving in front of her older brother who had taken a step towards them.
But Calum spoke, “didn’t mean for it to happen-”
“She’s my fucking sister!” Ashton bellowed, finally exploding.
“And he’s your best friend!” Ostara screamed, matching her older brothers temper, “so you know he’ll treat me right!”
Ashton stopped moving forward, considering for a moment what had just been said, “there’s a code.” he spat.
“I never agreed to a code!” Ostara insisted.
“It’s a bro code, you don’t need to agree-”
“Well when it affects me, I most definitely should get a say you sexist-” Ostara began to fume.
“What is going on?” came a new voice as Michael and Luke showed up, both looking worried as the Irwin’s squared off against each other.
“Calum and I are going to the ball next week together, because we’re dating, and you’re going to accept it!” Ostara told Ashton.
“I will not!” Ashton glared.
Ostara let out a loud groan of exasperation, grabbing Calum’s hand, she turned and dragged the platinum prince out of the room.
“Can’t believe Cal backstabbed you like that.” Luke breathed.
“Hey, it’s not that bad-” Michael began.
“That’s my fucking sister!” Ashton screamed.
Michael sighed, “okay, it is a little bit bad.”
-----
Calum and Ostara spent almost the entire week outside of the palace out on cute dates that were incessantly papped. Ashton tried to avoid the pictures at first but he felt himself getting softer as each day passed and new shots of his sister laughing and looking genuinely alight with happiness were uploaded.
And fuck it, Calum looked happy too.
Michael pointed out on day four that Calum and Ostara seemed to really like each other, and Ashton couldn’t argue with it, which annoyed him terribly.
Michael and Luke were trying to support Ashton in his endeavour to remain upset, but it was obvious that everyone else supported the new, happy couple. Especially Ashton’s parents who had known Calum his whole life and were more than thrilled that he had began to date their daughter.
Ashton knew that Michael was still hanging out with Cal, and the two drank beer by the pool late at night when they thought Ashton wouldn’t notice. He couldn’t find it in his heart to be mad about it, especially when he’d almost stumbled across them and heard Calum saying “she’s really special man, I can’t explain it.”
Plus, Ashton preferred having Calum where he could see him as opposed to in Ostara’s room, which is where Calum was practically living since Ashton had made a fuss about kicking him out of one of the guest rooms the day he’d found out they were dating.
He was getting used to the idea.
He missed his best friend.
He missed his sister.
The night of the ball arrived and Ashton was at the bar with Michael and Luke when the happy couple arrived. Entering the ballroom, the two walked hand in hand, looking at each other and giggling as if nothing else mattered in the whole world.
Ashton was surprised when prince Harry approached the two of them, from what he could see it looked like he was congratulating them? Ashton had a weird hate on for Liam and that included his friends, Harry being one of them, so seeing the fact that Harry seemed to be excited and supportive made Ashton’s blood boil.
Had he really stooped lower than the notorious British playboy?
Ashton groaned. He was making the whole thing about him. He knew he was being selfish and he couldn’t shake the fact that Calum had broken the bro code, but he’d be lying if he said he hadn’t toyed the idea of chasing after Calum’s sister at one point in time…
Ashton sighed. He was definitely in the wrong.
He spent a solid half an hour watching his sister and her new boyfriend.
The soft touches, the lingering stares, the never ending smiles and giggles… it was sickeningly sweet. Ashton loved it. He hated that he loved it.
His sister did deserve to be happy and Ashton knew that. He just wished it was with someone else.
Ashton looked for a good moment to approach but never found one. The ball ended and Calum and Ostara disappeared. Ashton knew he should wait until morning to find them, but the guilt was already eating at him, and soon he found himself outside of his sisters room.
He knocked and waited.
A minute later the door opened to reveal his sister in sweats and a hoodie that looked somewhat haphazard and Ashton couldn't help the fire that burned through him momentarily, eyes shifting past her to Calum who was pulling on a shirt.
“I came to apologize, but I don’t know if I can do that anymore.” Ashton stated.
“Calum go to the bathroom.” Ostara said.
“What?”
“You’re bruising my brothers ego, go away real quick.” Ostara explained.
Calum sighed and trudged to the bathroom, out of sight. It helped a little, Ashton had to admit.
“You know, maybe I shouldn’t give you my blessing.” Ashton stated.
“No take backs.” Ostara insisted.
Ashton sighed, “but why Calum?”
“Why is he your best friend?” his sister countered, crossing her arms over her chest.
“Hate it when you’re logical.” Ashton groaned, “fuck, fine, you two look good together. I should go talk to Cal-”
“Talk to him in the morning.” Ostara said, stepping in front of her brother to block his way.
Ashton narrowed his eyes at his sister, “you two disgust me.”
“You’re the one who showed up here at like midnight-”
“You’re the one who chose to date my best friend-”
“Well you’re the one who made the stupid bro code-”
“I didn’t ‘make the bro code’ you silly, and besides, you’re the one who made Cal break the bro code-”
“Oh I ‘made’ him break it?” Ostara scoffed.
Calum listened to the siblings bicker, smiling to himself as he waited for the sound of Ostara’s bedroom door to close. When it did, he peeked his head out of the bathroom to make sure Ashton was gone.
“Thought he’d never leave.” Calum mused.
“Are you questioning my ability to fight my brother?” Ostara asked, opening her arms for Calum whose hands settled on her waist.
“I think I used to.” Calum admitted, “but not anymore.”
Ostara grinned, “so I’ve proven myself?”
“Uh huh.” Calum chuckled.
“Good, because if I was a wimp we’d still be in big trouble.” Ostara pointed out.
God, he adored her.
Part of him always had, and he knew that now.
He was exactly where he was supposed to be, and for the first time, Calum was prepared for whatever the future with Ostara might bring.

If someone had told you five years ago that you’d be living the life you are now, you probably would have laughed and told them they were crazy. You had a nice home, you lived in a nice kingdom, and you had the most loving parents anyone could have ever asked for.
However, that all changed when your mother got sick.
She had become suddenly weak one night after she and your dad had tucked you into bed. A doctor was called early the next morning, but his diagnosis wasn’t what your parents were hoping to hear. He gave your mother only six months to live, and in those six months, she spent as much time with you as she possibly could. She taught you everything you held so dear to you today – treat everyone with kindness, don’t be afraid to stand up for what’s right, and never stop dreaming.
But hey, two out of three ain’t bad.
Your dad remarried six years after your mother’s death – surprisingly due to your persuasion. You could see how much he loved your step-mother – despite her many...many...questionable qualities – and all you wanted was for him to be happy.
Clara was nice enough – she treated you the same as she treated your two step-sisters – although she would let a few passive-aggressive comments about you slip here and there. You dealt with it though – if your father was happy, that was all you cared about.
But, because this was your life, you didn’t get the ‘happily ever after’ you were hoping for.
Your father went away a lot for work, always coming back a few weeks later with stories of his trip and gifts for you and your step-family. But one day, he didn’t come back. He was supposed to return on Thursday, but that day had come and gone with no sign of him.
It wasn’t until Friday evening that you heard a knock on the door. You immediately jumped up from the living room couch to answer it, disappointed at not seeing your dad, but smiling at the man who had accompanied him on the trip.
“Hello, Randall!” you chirped. He didn’t smile back, and that was when you knew something was off. “Randall...” your smile faltered, “Is everything okay? Where’s my father?” By this point, Clara, Kathryn, and Abigail had gathered behind you, curious as to what was going on.
“I’m so sorry, Y/N...” Randall swallowed, “Your father... He got sick while we were on the road...” You felt your chest tighten and your throat close up, making it hard to breathe. “He didn’t make it...”
“What about my dress?!” Abigail stomped her foot.
“And my pearl necklace?!” Kathryn screeched, both of them upset your father wouldn’t be bringing the gifts he’d promised to return with. They both angrily left the room, your step-mother following, as you just stared at Randall in shock.
“Thank you, Randall,” you whispered brokenly. You tried not to get upset at your step-sisters for only being concerned about their gifts, giving them the benefit of the doubt and hoping this was just the way they were choosing to cope right now.
“He wanted me to give you this,” Randall said softly, holding out a rose to you, “He insisted we stop to get it off the side of the road, saying it reminded him of you and he knew you’d love it.” Your smile came back – if only a little – as you took it from him.
“I do love it, Randall,” you nodded slightly, “Thank you.”
“I’m sorry, Y/N... I wish I could have-”
“It wasn’t your fault,” you shook your head, “It’s okay.” You said goodbye before closing the door, finally allowing your tears to fall as you sunk down to the floor, holding the rose as close to you as you could without squishing it.
~
Four years later
Ever since the passing of your father, your step-mother had changed everything about your childhood home. Furniture that you would remember you and your mother cuddling up on as she read to you was being thrown out, decorations your father brought back from other places were being sold, the staff hired to help out around the house that you had grown up with were now being fired and forced to move out without warning. The dream home your parents had worked so hard on was dismantled a mere month after your father’s death, and the only things you had left of it were memories.
Clara’s true colors shone brightly after that day, forcing you to do all the cooking, cleaning – everything you previously enjoyed doing for fun were now tasks you dreaded waking up for. Your bedroom had been moved to the attic – much to your displeasure – but you still bore it. Sure, you could move out and make a living on your own, but you felt it was a duty to your parents to at least maintain the integrity of the house – to always have someone there who never forgot the memories it once held.
But even you needed to get out every once in a while.
You would take one of the horses your father purchased when she was just a newborn pony, and ride into the woods not far from your home. It was a nice get-a-way from your responsibilities every once in a while and you enjoyed talking to the animals since they couldn’t give you orders.
It was a normal ride into the woods – a day just like any other – until you started hearing shouting and gunshots. You looked around to see where they were coming from, but you found nothing. Instead, you squeaked in surprise when a deer – a young doe, to be more precise – bolted into the area of the forest that you were in. It stopped upon seeing you and when you heard the shouting of men get louder, your eyes widened.
“Don’t just stand here!” you told the deer, “Run!”
You took your horse’s reins and had her chase the deer in the opposite direction that the shouting was coming from. She ran as fast as you’d ever seen a deer run before and you kept a close eye on her until you thought she was safe. Your horse was still running, but she slowed down when you began hearing shouting right behind you.
“Miss!” you heard a man exclaim, “Whoa! Hold up!” You turned your head as his own horse galloped up alongside yours. He reached out and grabbed the headstall on your horse’s bridal, right beside her ear. He had her stop before making his horse stop as well and then addressing you. “Are you alright?” he asked, “Are you hurt? Did you get hit? We didn’t think anyone else was out here.”
“What did that poor deer ever do to you?!” you exclaimed, not acknowledging his questions.
“We’re hunting!” he grinned, a bit perplexed as to why you were so protective of a measly deer.
“So why does her life have any less value than yours?!”
“It’s just a deer!”
“So was Bambi’s mother!” you crossed your arms in detest. The boy raised his eyebrows in amusement.
“You’re comparing this to a fictional story?” he questioned.
“What if that deer has a fawn that needs her?” you returned, “It won’t survive on its own! It will wonder why its mother isn’t coming back!”
“Deer don’t die from a broken heart,” he tried reasoning with you, “They don’t have feelings.”
“How do you know?” you asked defensively, “Maybe they think you don’t have feelings because you can hunt them without a second thought!” The boy simply raised his hands up in surrender.
“Alright, alright,” he was still smiling, “I’ll leave the deer alone. So-” He was looking at you curiously. “-what do your forest friends call you?” You finally allowed yourself to grin back at him.
“They don’t call me anything,” you replied, “They can’t talk.”
“Well, surely their heroine has a name, at least. What do those who can talk call you?”
“It doesn’t matter what they call me,” you shook your head, “What do they call you?”
He let out a confused chuckle, “You don’t know who I am?”
“Should I?” you asked shyly, figuring it was someone from your childhood you didn’t recognize anymore.
“I’d like you to,” he smirked.
“So what’s your name?”
“Most call me Michael,” he told you, “Friends call me Mikey. My father calls me Mike when he’s in a good mood.” You giggled lightly, making him smile widely at knowing he caused it.
“Well, Michael,” you said, making his heart skip a beat, “It’s a pleasure to meet you.”
“Pleased to meet you too, Miss No Name,” he replied, taking your hand and pressing a kiss to the back of it, making you blush a bright shade of pink. “Do you live around here?” You nodded in response.
“Where do you live?” you asked him.
“At the palace,” he answered, “My father is teaching me his trade.”
“You’re an apprentice then?” you smiled, making him grin as well.
“I guess you could call it that,” he nodded.
“Is it nice living there?” you were beyond curious, “Do they treat you well?”
“Better than I deserve, I’m sure,” he answered, “Do they treat you well...wherever you live?”
“They treat me as well as they can,” your smile faltered slightly, but you quickly brushed it off, “I’m sure others have it much worse than I do.” Michael was clearly about to comment, but you were both startled by a whistle, making you look over to find another man on a horse.
“We should be heading back now, Your Hi-” Michael cut him off before he could finish his sentence.
“Of course!” he exclaimed rather loudly, “I’ll be right there!” The man simply smiled and shook his head, having his horse take him to the opening of the forest. Michael then turned back to you, “Sorry I didn’t have more time. Perhaps we’ll run into each other again soon?”
“I look forward to it,” you grinned. He kissed your hand again before letting go, taking his horse’s reins, and heading to the other man. You found yourself chewing on your bottom lip as your smile grew, not even noticing that Michael had turned his head and seen it as you turned your own horse around and went in the opposite direction.

His majesty took a seat on the royal table, scoffing at his mother's glare, rolling his eyes at his aunts and finally winking at the brunette maid causing her to almost spill the water jug onto the kings lap. He also had the audacity to act as if everyone around the table wasn't giving him the death glare.
"Lucas, you are very late! Is this how you greet your aunts? Hmm" his first aunt's obnoxious voice range through the castle.
"Hello aunt Helen, I must say I'm not even the slightest happy that you're here. So please, do say how much of the gold pennies you've had your eyes on so we can move this along." He said in the most polite voice his mother has ever heard coming out of his mouth.
The women's eyes almost popped out of her head as she narrowed her eyes into two slits scanning the room to find her two sisters shocked expression. Her youngest sister who also happens to be the queen of the land seemed to find the plate infront of her rather interesting. The king seemed to have a hard time trying to stop the corners of his lips from twitching upwards. The same maid from before seemed to have a reddened face as she held eye contact with the smirking prince.
Aunt Helen huffed, turning from her seat to the queen. "Dear, how many times have I told you that place near the kingdom border? They teach discipline in the most acceptable way. Surely you can't have a king with respect as him"
"Oh yes with me out of the way you can.." "Luke that's enough" his mother told him with a pointed glare. Aunt Helen shuffled comfortably in her seat. Munching on a pea never felt so good.
"Now tell us why you're late dear" His other aunt the one who was quiet for all this time spoke up. "I was umm doing some research of sorts. Yes a research on how to get rid of leaches" his majesty stated giving an amused smirk while catching his aunt Helen's response towards his clever answer.
Luke = 01
Aunt Helen = 0
"Well now that's out of the way let's eat! Oo what is this?!" The prince exclaimed stuffing a mouth full of the baked good in front of it. "That's um aunt Helen here bought it and it's um.." "Oh let me tell him darling. It's one of the signature dishes from my land Lucas. And guess what's the special ingredient is...Snails!! Yes they are very nutritious" Aunt Helen exclaimed proudly with an evil glint filled in her eyes.
"Well that's grea-" The prince stopped mid sentence, the chewing process slowly discreasing as he took in the new information. His face turned a bit of white as he gulped down the bolus. Ooo bad idea. He cringed at the taste, feeling saliva fill up his mouth.
Aunt Helen = 01
Luke = 01
Aunt Helen's smirk didn't last long as she was dragged into one of the infamous conversations the three sisters had. The king, who was silent upon all of this chaos looked to the side to see the situation his youngest son had fallen upon. He couldn't help his lips from twitching upwards as he saw how the prince was clutching the edge of the table, knuckles turned white and legs bouncing out of nervousness.
"Nope..no" the prince mumbled out quickly stumbling out of the dining hall, crashing into the white porcelain statue of his great great grandfather and nearly breaking the neck in half.

Here’s a taste so you know what you’re getting into:
Luke forced a similar smile, “you’re right sweetheart, i might be, but i’m sure you’ve heard other things, havent you?” his eyes bore into yours and you fidgeted in your seat slightly, “yes darling you know exactly what i’m talking about.” his voice lowered to something near a growl, “well let me make things clear for you. i’m a sex god. i fuck who i want, when i want, and the girls are grateful to have even a moment of my attention. they beg for it. my room had to be sound proofed so my name wouldn't ring through the hallways every night. the girls who i haven’t fucked, would give anything to have a chance at me and the one’s who have? well they would kill to have me again because the rumours are true baby, i’m that good.” your smile faltered slightly and Luke’s widened, “so if you’re going to talk about what you’ve heard of me, don’t cherry pick darling, you’ll be sorry if you do.”
-----------------------
It was two in the afternoon by the time Luke entered the palace, waltzing past the security as he dropped his large fur jacket on the ground, taking off his sunglasses and throwing them, there were always more where that came from.
“Luke!” His mother called as he began walking up the stairs to his room, “I need to talk to you.”
Luke stopped and let out a loud groan, “can’t it wait till later?”
The look his mother gave him said no as he sighed and followed her into the large living room area, flopping his long body onto a couch so he could kick off his gold boots and rub at his eyes, hands coming back speckled in sparkles.
splayed across the coffee table were tabloids. “this one’s new.” Luke grinned, picking up a magazine that showed him leaving the club with his arms around two models, a birthday hat on his head and his shirt missing, “they believed me when i said it was my birthday.”
“i’m sure that’s not true.” His mother sighed, eyes going down to the magazine covers as a look of distaste flashed across her face, “you’ve made quite a spectacle of yourself this month Luke.”
“been having fun.” he shrugged, tossing the magazine down as he studied the other covers.
The one from the month before when his buddy, ‘Prince Daddy Ashton’ as all the ladies call him, bought a yacht and proceeded to throw a week long rager on board. someone had leaked a picture of Luke wearing a captain’s hat and spraying two bottles of champagne all over a crowd of girls in bikinis.
then, of course, there was the cover that showed him in his beautiful golden crown and red cape getting a blowjob. that one had taught Luke that open windows were not a good idea when he had ladies over, it had also significantly tightened the on-ground security measures. it had been quite the scandal and no matter how many times Luke insisted that it was a one time thing and the girl had suggested it, people didn’t believe him.
Not that he cared at all. Luke was confident in himself and his life style. Being young, beautiful, filthy rich and royal had its perks.
“Do i need to worry about a new cover tomorrow? i’m sure your escapade last night was less than discrete.” his mother sighed.
Luke shrugged, “it was pretty tame.” he rubbed at his eyes again, more glitter transferring to his hand.
“your neck says otherwise my love.”
Luke laughed, “shit, forgot about that.” a small sound of movement drew his blue eyes to the door as a maid walked in, “you, whiskey, neat.” he said, snapping his fingers.
“he’ll have coffee.” his mother interjected, smiling nicely at the maid who scurried away.
Luke groaned loudly, “what do you want with me mother.” he only ever called her mother when he was hung over, which had been happening more and more frequently as of late, “i’m tired.”
“Your father is stepping down at the end of the year.” she stated.
“pfff.” Luke rolled his eyes, “as if.”
“I’m not joking Luke.”
“well what does this have to do with me, i’m sure Ben is ecstatic, he’ll finally be king-”
“Ben won’t be king, he did not score highest on the aptitude test.” Luke’s mother sighed.
the Aptitude Test. Luke hated it. some dumb test to see if a royal would be fit to rule. Every royal was forced to take the test at age eighteen. in families like Luke’s with multiple children under a King and Queen, whichever child scored highest would become ruler upon the parent’s retirement. upon initial retirement request by the king or queen, the test scores of the children would be revealed to the royal family to allow coronation preparation.
“well, then Jack-” Luke began, eye brows furrowing in confusion.
“you scored the highest.” Luke’s mother interrupted.
Luke laughed, “that’s impossible. I can’t be king-”
“you will be king.” His mother stated.
Never in the history of the aptitude test had a child who scored highest not become ruler. the aptitude test was law, the most important royal law.
But Luke had lived his entire life knowing he would never be king.
It was like all the air had been knocked out of his lungs as Luke doubled over, feet planting firmly on the ground as he ran his fingers through his hair, “fuck.”
“i wish this wasn’t the case, it’s less than ideal.” his mother began, “but we have to adapt. we have a few months to change your image so when the coronation is finally announced and it is revealed that you will be king, people won’t be as opposed to it.”
Luke began searching his pockets for his flask and he let out a sigh of relief when he found it, opening it to put it to his lips before his mother grabbed it and pulled it away, “for starters, no more drinking.”
“you’ve got to be fucking me.”
“no more swearing.”
“but-”
“no more but’s, Luke.” she said, reaching over and lifting the summoning bell she rang it twice and a group of people came with stacks of folders.
Luke recognized the Public Relations team, they’d tried to micromanage him when he turned the legal drinking age but had given up long ago.
“what the fuc-”
“Luke.”
“what the heck is going on?” Luke corrected himself with a groan as someone handed him the folders.
“we think it’s best if you’re seen with a steady woman. someone proper who can keep you on a tight leash.” his mother explained, “in these folders are details on all of the Princesses who would be suitable-”
“thought you were a Queen not a pimp.”
“Luke.” his mother said sternly.
“i can’t say pimp now?” Luke asked, opening one of the folders.
His mother stood, “just, look through the folders Luke. we need a decision by tonight.”
----
Luke groaned as he rolled around in his silk sheets, grabbing at the plush fur blanket before sitting up and feeling around for his phone. He messaged the kitchen staff, telling them what he wanted for dinner to be delivered to his room.
his eyes went to the stack of folders splayed out on the foot of his bed and he groaned, opening one. he recognized the first Princess, even met her once or twice but she was always looking down at him. he threw her folder on the ground, grabbing the next one.
the folders described basic information, likes, dislikes, that sort of thing. if they seemed okay, Luke would look the Princess up on instagram and scroll through their posts.
his dinner arrived and he ate it while looking through the rest of the folders. the last one he picked up said your name on it. he’d heard of you before and when he opened your folder he knew why, you were beautiful. he’d heard of you from a few of his buddies. Ashton was always trying to flirt with you and even Cal and Michael agreed that you were super cool but none of them had managed to woo you.
it was a no brainer for Luke in that moment. he threw on a long red silk robe and pulled his hair back into a messy bun, grabbing your folder and leaving his room.
Luke’s first stop was the kitchen where he grabbed a bottle of whiskey and poured himself a glass, then he went off to find his mother. she was in her office, as usual.
her eyes went to his hands, the chipped red nail polish and the long, once pianist fingers, holding the glass of whiskey. but if there was anything Luke’s mother knew, it was when to pick her battles and this was not one worth picking.
he tossed the folder onto her desk and took a seat across from her, taking a sip of his drink and grinning at the burn that seared through his throat.
his mother opened the folder and looked up at Luke, “good choice.” she said, “i’ll contact her family and see if we can make this work.”
---
It had been a long week for Luke. His mother had enforced a house arrest on Luke, especially after he made headlines yet again with a picture of a girl straddling him in the club and sucking on his neck.
the PR team had extensively briefed him on all the rules of the ‘relationship’. what he could do and not do.
he was allowed one shot, no more than one, per two hours with a maximum of five shots a day spread out over ten hours if absolutely necessary.
one beer equals one shot, same restrictions applied.
no drugs. except cigarettes but only in specially designated areas on palace grounds where no one could get a picture, and only two per day.
the two of you would go on two public dates in the first week, three on the second, with a steady rate of two to four public appearances each week.
“what about sex?” Luke had asked.
“if you must, invite girls to the palace but there will be absolutely no interaction with any woman but Y/N in public. and any girl you bring over has to sign a confidentiality agreement upon entering the palace, through the back gate.”
“brilliant, so you’re cock blocking me too.”
“just get them to sign the confidentiality form.” the PR head said, sliding Luke a folder full of official looking documents, each with their own area for a different signature.
“Y/N will be staying at the five star hotel down the street for the entirety of the relationship. prior to each date you will be given information on the restaurants or outings you two will be doing, as well as an itinerary. body guards will accompany you everywhere you go and they are instructed to keep you away from all the before mentioned vices that you are accustomed to.”
“and one final thing Prince Luke, we have assigned you a stylist-”
“i can dress myself.” Luke stated.
“Prince Luke-”
“i said, i can freaking dress myself, thank you very much.” and with that, he left the room to go get ready for his ‘date.’
---
Luke’s black boot tapped against the white marble floor as he fidgeted with the legacy ring on his thumb before running a hand through his wild tangle of golden curls. dressed in black suit pants and a black silk button up, Luke didn’t feel entirely out of place with the five star restaurant he was sitting in.
okay, maybe the choker was an extra, unnecessary touch, but if his mother was able to draw the line at glitter highlighter on the first date, then he’d be damned if he showed up without something to stand out with.
the sound of heels on marble drew his attention up as you entered the restaurant, a waiter showing you over to the table.
you looked ravishing. dressed in a beautiful silky dress that hugged all the right curves, Luke’s eyes immediately began undressing you. he stood abruptly, his awkwardly long legs almost knocking over the table as he muttered “fuck” but composed himself so he could open his arms for a hug.
you grinned brilliantly as you tucked into his arms, fitting perfectly.
Luke allowed himself to relish in the feeling for a moment before pulling away and motioning for you to sit down.
he sat across from you, “if i didn’t know better, i would think you’re actually happy to be here.” he stated.
you smiled, “all for the pictures darling.”
“so i’m Luke.”
“Y/N. you signed the contract?”
“yeah. you?”
“yup.”
“what are you getting out of this?” he asked, lifting up a menu, eyes scanning over it.
“well, i can only assume that because of your need for a public imagine cleansing, it’s likely that when your father retires, which im guessing is soon... it seems like you won the aptitude test.” you answered, not looking up at him as you scanned the menu.
you had the whole thing figured out and Luke laughed, “you’re smart. your folder didn’t say you were smart.”
you let out a beautiful laugh that rang through the restaurant, drawing eyes as people admired the two beautiful royals at dinner. “bet there’s a lot of things my folder didn’t say.”
“good point.” Luke snapped his fingers which drew your attention as a waiter scurried over, “we’ll have your best bottle of wine.” he stated.
“very good sir, anything else?”
“the wine will be fine for now.” you answered before Luke could say anything else.
as the waiter scurried away Luke grinned sheepishly, “wine is something civilized people drink right?”
“oh definitely.” you said sarcastically, “your folder left out the part about you snapping your fingers to get people’s attention.”
“someone made a folder about me?” Luke burst out laughing, “what else did it say?”
“nothing good.” you answered, “now, if we’re going to be seen together, you can’t snap your fingers to get what you want anymore. i won’t have it.”
Luke’s eyes narrowed at you. one date in and you were already making rules. rules on top of the rules he already had. and Luke did not like it. not one bit. “fine. if you don’t want me to snap my fingers then you have to wave down the help.”
“wow, you really are the pompous, arrogant, mama’s boy everyone says you are.” your words cut like knives but the beautiful smile remained fixed on your face.
Luke forced a similar smile, “you’re right sweetheart, i might be, but i’m sure you’ve heard other things, havent you?” his eyes bore into yours and you fidgeted in your seat slightly, “yes darling you know exactly what i’m talking about.” his voice lowered to something near a growl, “well let me make things clear for you. i’m a sex god. i fuck who i want, when i want, and the girls are grateful to have even a moment of my attention. they beg for it. my room had to be sound proofed so my name wouldn't ring through the hallways every night. the girls who i haven’t fucked, would give anything to have a chance at me and the one’s who have? well they would kill to have me again because the rumours are true baby, i’m that good.” your smile faltered slightly and Luke’s widened, “so if you’re going to talk about what you’ve heard of me, don’t cherry pick darling, you’ll be sorry if you do.”
you could feel your heart pounding in your chest as your eyes flickered over the gorgeous blondes face, you opened your mouth to say something when the waiter came back with the wine.
he showed you the bottle and poured you each a modest class before setting the bottle in the middle of the table, “have you two decided on dinner?”
Luke ordered the most expensive thing on the menu, specifying a bunch of different alterations on it before the waiter turned to you and accepted your order as well.
meanwhile, Luke swirled his wine around before drinking the entire thing, setting his glass down and filling it again.
as the waiter left, you sighed, “i thought your contract specified your alcohol intake.”
“mentioned beer and shots but not wine.” he answered. great, so the whole ‘wine is what civilized people drink’ was fake.
He swirled his wine around and you watched him, thinking about the way your heart was still beating in your chest like you’d just run a marathon.
He was right. You had heard about him. You’d heard about the orgies and the threesomes, his extravagant sexual antics that always somehow ended up in the news. you’d heard about the models and the movie stars, the songs written about him.
One of the songs was a bop about ‘the golden haired diva’ and it had been obvious who it was about, especially when the artist won an award for it and thanked the Prince, who had been sitting in the audience with his arms around two different pop singers and just grinned when the camera panned to him.
he was the world’s favourite rich, bad boy.
and sitting there in that restaurant you saw the allure. part of you wanted to do something, anything, that would get him to speak to you in that low voice again. part of you wanted to see what would happen if you asked him to join you at your hotel later. but the part of you that grew up a Princess knew how to keep composure as you set your hands in front of you, interlocking your fingers.
“we should think of something to talk about.” you suggested, “after all, we have to be together for a few months.”
“tell me some secrets.” he suggested, sipping his wine.
“like what?” you laughed.
“dirty secrets.” he grinned at you over the rim of his glass, “a girl who looks like you can’t be as prim and proper as you seem, something tells me you’re into some dirty shit, aren't you babe?.”
you sighed, maintaining your smile, “wasn’t ‘no swearing’ on your contract?”
“didn’t answer the question darling.”
you reached out and grabbed your wine, taking a sip to hopefully loosen up a bit, “this is good,” you noted, setting it down, you rested your face on your hand, looking at the beautiful boy in front of you.
this was one of those moments. you could either choose to let loose and break the ice, answer all his dirty questions, or you could put up a wall and make life more difficult for both of you.
“why don’t you tell me what you think I like?” you suggested, cocking your head at him with a grin.
he studied your red lips. the way they matched your beautiful red dress. hell, even your nails matched. you were an absolute vision. and there was this big expanse of space between the two of you: the table.
Luke had never had to hold himself back before. girls were always throwing themselves at him, never keeping themselves at a distance. you were unattainable and part of it made him want you like nothing he’d ever wanted in his life. his eyes trailed down to your collarbones and the way the dress accentuated your cleavage, moving slightly up and down with each breath.
he set down his wine and leaned forward, voice dipping low again, “tell me when i’m getting close, Princess. you like a guy who can rough you up a little, someone not afraid to take charge, when you’re in the frisky mood, a little bit of choking, nothing too extreme, but i think that’s just because you’ve never met the right guy who could introduce you to the darker side of sex, the fun side.”
“and you’re that guy?”
Luke leaned back in his chair, stretching his legs out so one of his feet brushed yours under the table, he shrugged, “i am, but something tells me you don’t have the guts to fully let loose and i’m not down to share control so unless you’re one hundred percent ready to submit completely, it’s not worth my time.”
what a fucking dick. he’s gorgeous, but wow.
“oh yeah? well how about i analyze you and we’ll see how much you like it?” you asked, “you like control because you have a constant need to prove yourself. you grew up the youngest of three children and you never thought you’d be good enough so you made sure you could be the best at things that are important to other people, so... sex. but you don’t want anyone to question you ever. you only go for girls who are submissive because they won’t talk back and hurt your fragile ego.”
Luke rolled his eyes, crossing his arms over his chest but you continued.
“you’re a mama’s boy and everything has been handed to you your entire life. girls throw themselves and are easy because you’re cute and have money so you’ve never had to actually work for anything, which means, any girl who isn’t ‘one hundred percent ready to submit completely’ is probably effort and you don’t know what effort even is which scares the shit out of you. because you don’t think you’d actually be able to get a girl not already falling head over heals for you.” you grinned as he narrowed his eyes at you, “aw, was that too close to home for you baby?”
he was eerily still for a few moments before he downed his glass of wine and stood, “i’ll be back.” he stated, turning and heading off in the direction of the bathroom.
you had been harsh. but he had suggested you weren’t worth his time. And you had been warned that he was an asshole with no experience with female royals, no strong women to contend against him.
the waiter returned with your food and you realized Luke had been gone a while. you sighed, motioning the waiter over, “Hello, i’m so sorry, my friend was feeling a little sick, I’m just going to go check on him, I’ll be right back.”
“of course Princess Y/N.” the waiter smiled, “the bathroom is this way.”
he led you to the mens room and you thanked him before opening the door and peering in. it was a posh, five star restaurant, which meant that they had a full on couch and fireplace in the bathroom.
Luke was sitting on the couch with his phone in one hand and a cigarette in the other. “your food came out.” you stated, drawing his attention from his phone.
“men’s room darling, you can’t be in here.” He said absentmindedly.
“we can get the food to go but we need to be seen leaving together.” you explained.
he stood up abruptly and approached you as you stepped back and bumped into the closed door, you realized how tall he was. towering over you, even while you were in heals. his shoulders broad and the first few buttons of his black silk shirt undone, exposing the tiniest bit of chest hair that worked to make him more manly in an almost animalistic way. a choker wrapped around his neck that drew attention his chiseled jaw, just slightly covered in golden stubble.
he stepped closer and you bit at your lip, wondering what he would do. he leaned in, and you held your breath, “you’re blocking the door.” he said, his breath brushing over your skin and causing goose bumps to appear as he stepped back and allowed you to move out of his way.
He opened the door and grabbed your hand, lacing his fingers with yours as he pulled you out of the bathroom. everyone in the restaurant watched the two of you head back to your seats and you sighed, this was not a good start to his public image.
Luke even pulled out your chair for you as you sat down before going back to his own. You both ate in silence and the waiter cleared your plates, “would you like a dessert menu tonight?”
“Yes.” Luke answered.
“thank you.” you said, eying Luke as the waiter left.
“dessert?” you asked.
“it will look good on camera if we share a dessert.” he stated.
even you couldn’t argue with that. The waiter brought back the menu and Luke handed it to you, “choose whatever you want.”
you sighed loudly as you looked at the menu, choosing something then handing the menu back to the waiter who left again.
your eyes went to Luke’s hands, fingers playing with the stem of his glass. “you should have a professional do your nails sometime. they won’t chip as easily.”
“i like it when they chip. it’s edgy. goes with my look.”
he just sat there and stared at you and you met his gaze, refusing to back down or apologize. you both stayed like that until the dessert was placed between the two of you.
Luke picked up a spoon, taking a small piece and holding it out to you, “wanna taste?”
you forced a smile, leaning across the table (something that you were fully aware gave him a beautiful view of your cleavage that was practically popping out of your dress) your lips closed around the spoon as you accepted him feeding you.
he watched your pretty lips on the spoon and he felt his already tight pants getting tighter as he grinned and pulled the spoon away.
Luke took a scoop for himself and put the spoon in his own mouth, sucking everything off while staring directly at you. there was something so oddly erotic about it.
you felt your skin flush as you looked down, not wanting to meet his eyes anymore.
you reached for your spoon but Luke grabbed it before you could, he made a tutting sound at you, “not a chance Princess.”
“seriously?” you asked, “you’re going to hand feed me this entire thing?”
“uh huh.”
Luke knew it wasn't a good idea. he knew you were already driving him wild. he knew that if he continued down this path... well, blue balls were not on Luke’s list of top favourite things. but he could see the way it was affecting you too, and he’d be damned if he gave up on the satisfaction of that.
-----
Luke leaned down and kissed the first girl as the second one finished signing the consent form. as she set down the pen, Luke turned to the second one, kissing her as well before ushering them out the door to where a guard would escort them off the property, he gave girl number one a final pat on the bum and a cheeky grin, ignoring his PR assistant’s disgusted face.
that’s when his phone rang. Luke padded down the marble hallway, answering the call, “sup?”
“have you seen the magazines?”
“no Ash, i just woke up.” Luke said, yawning loudly and putting his phone on speaker so he could hear better.
“you’re all over the cover.” Ashton stated, “you and Y/N. I didn’t know the two of you were seeing each other.”
Luke stopped walking, turning to look at his PR assistant who was following him like a puppy. in that moment, Luke could honestly not remember whether or not he was allowed to tell his friends.
the PR Assistant began to shake his head but Luke said: “yeah. i went out with Y/N yesterday.”
“and you fed her dessert.” Ashton interjected, “please tell me she put out for you.”
Luke’s gaze went to his assistant who was shaking his head vigorously, “uhhh... no?”
“you don’t sound too certain bro, how drunk were you?” Ashton laughed.
“uhhh....” Luke focused on reading his assistants lips but sighed, “wasn’t drunk. it was just a date.”
“there’s a picture of you leaving the bathroom together, i gotta be honest, i never pegged Y/N for a public sex kind of girl.”
“she’s not.” Luke answered immediately and his assistant let out a sigh of relief, at least he got that response correct, “Look, Ash, it’s not a big deal.”
“well when are you bringing her out for boys night?”
Luke opened his mouth when his assistant started vigorously shaking his head and making an ‘X’ sign with his arms and Luke sighed, remembering the ‘no partying’ part of the contract, “there’s a lot going on right now.” he said as his assistant typed out something for him to read, Luke’s eyes scanned the words as he read them out loud “and i’m trying to focus on this new relationship, so I might not see you for a while.” Luke rolled his eyes at his assistant.
“pfff, lame, are you bringing her to the gala next month?”
Luke’s assistant nodded, “uh, yes.”
“cool, see you there mate. great job.” the line went dead.
“Prince Luke, the nature of this relationship being PR can only be known to those signing a contract but due to the nature of Prince Ashton’s place in society i find it unadvisable to tell him or anyone else of his stature due to the fact that a breach of contract lawsuit will mean nothing to another royal family if they choose to expose the relationship as PR to ruin your reputation.”
“it’s too early for so many big words.” Luke groaned, “i’m going back to sleep.”
“you have a date with Princess L/N in an hour.” his assistant called.
“of course i do, better wash the smell of pussy from my breath eh?” he grinned at his assistant who scowled, “something tells me Y/N would hate that.”
____
The dates continued two to four times a week as contractually stated. Mostly at five star restaurants or with the two of you going for walks in public places, flanked by body guards.
after your brutal analysis of him, Luke stayed away from sexual topics. opting to hold his tongue as best he could.
You brought up political topics and part of Luke assumed that perhaps you had been told to do so, to get him ready to converse with other educated people about such topics.
Between you, the PR briefings and the royal briefings Luke found himself with not much time on his hands. He missed partying. He missed drinking until he was numb. but most importantly, he missed the girls.
or, parts of him did. but after the first two weeks of girls signing a consent form, the idea of it had left a sour taste in his mouth.
especially when the girls brought you up in conversation. Delphi, one of his favourite usual shags had been curled against his chest in a post sex daze when she asked “does Princess Y/N know about this?”
his heart had lurched at the sound of her name and his jaw had set as he stood, putting on his robe and going to grab himself a shot before leaning against one of the bed posts, “get dressed.” he’d commanded.
“Luke, i’m sorry if-”
“Prince Luke.” he reminded her, “and I don’t want to hear it. you already signed the consent form last time you were here and you know your way out.”
he’d gone onto the terrace without another word, swirling the whiskey in his glass.
he didn’t know why it upset him so much.
maybe it was because he’d never really had a girlfriend before, fake or otherwise. it had been two weeks and he’d spent a lot of his time with you. whether he considered you a friend or not, part of him cared about you in a way he’d never really experienced.
it made his grip on the terrace railing tighten as his jaw clenched. you had power over him. and he didn’t like it one bit.
------
Luke tried not to pay much attention to the feeling of your small hand wrapped around his arm while the two of you looked at fabric. he was bored out of his mind, yes he liked fashion but usually his tailors would just send him a bunch of clothes every month and he’d wear what he felt like.
but there he was, shopping with you. he didn’t get why you didn’t just do the same thing he did... but the smile on your face as you ran a hand through the fabrics, looking at everything, he guessed you just enjoyed shopping.
you pulled out a dress, removing your hand from his arm which suddenly felt cold from lack of contact, “what do you think?” you asked, showing it to him.
“it’s nice.” he stated.
“you’ve said that about the past four.” you sighed, handing the dress to the worker that hurried over to add it to your change room.
“they were all fine, gotta see what they look on your hot little bod.” he smirked.
you rolled your eyes, walking over to the change room with him trailing behind you. he leaned against the wall while you entered the changing room. his foot tapped while he waited as he began fiddling with his rings.
the door opened and he looked up, eyes eating up every inch of your body. the dress was stunning. it looked like it had been made for you.
“i need help with the zipper.” you said, turning to show him your exposed back as your hands held up the dress in the front.
he almost stumbled as he approached, flexing his fingers as they went down to the bottom of the zipper. he began to zip it up but your hair was in the way.
his fingers brushed against your skin lightly as he pushed the hair over your shoulder, his hot breath on the new exposed skin. he zipped up the dress and took his hands away, eyes looking up to meet yours through the mirror in front of you.
his heart leaped in his chest, having not realized you’d been watching him.
the tension was so thick it could have been cut with a knife, his eyes devouring you through the mirror.
“what do you think of the colour?” you asked, fingers skimming over the green material.
“looks-” his voice cracked and he cleared his throat, “looks good.”
“i’m going to wear this gala next week, with a few alterations. is that okay?”
“sure.”
his eyes looked down and you knew he was checking out your ass so you immediately turned around, misjudging how close the tall blonde was standing next to you. your chest bumped against his and you took a hesitant step back, wobbling on your heals as his hands immediately went to your waist to steady you.
you looked up at him and he opened his mouth but you cut him off, “stop.”
“stop what?” he asked.
eye brows furrowing slightly and you marvelled at how beautiful he was. a slight brush of glitter across one of his cheekbones, those crystal blue eyes, and one rogue strand of curly golden hair.
it would have been the easiest thing in the world to close the distance and just kiss him. your breath caught in your throat and you licked at your lips, considering it for a moment.
his eyes looked down at your lips and it snapped you from your daze as you realized you weren’t the only one considering it.
you had to forcibly step back, pulling away from his hands, “just... unzip me please.” you said, turning around again and looking down, “and no funny business.”
“wouldn’t fucking dream of it.” he grumbled after an exasperated breath, zipping your dress down with one hand then turning and leaving the change room and closing the door behind him.
---
the week passed and you spent each date trying to ignore him the best you could. but he made it very difficult. you touched him only when necessary, when the photographers were around. you kept the conversations short, brief, and about non-sex related topics, which was not easy, but anytime the conversation started going that way you would redirect it.
Luke waited outside your hotel in the limo that would take you to the ball. the limo door opened and you got in across from him, eyes scanning over his outfit as the driver closed the door behind you.
“you got a shirt to match my dress.” you breathed, noticing the beautiful silky green fabric that fit perfectly over his shoulders.
“oh. yeah.” he said, looking down at himself, “that’s a thing people do right?”
“yeah. it is.” you found yourself smiling. really smiling at him.
and he noticed. because you smiled different when you were actually happy. he had thought your fake smile was gorgeous but looking at you in that moment he realized he hadn’t seen anything truly gorgeous until that moment.
“you look good.” you continued, “but... i think you’re missing one thing.”
“and what’s that darling?” he asked.
you opened your purse, pulling out a makeup palette and a brush, “a little bit of glitter. i figured your mom would not allow it but... it looks good on you, so i thought i’d bring highlighter in case you wanted some.”
Luke’s eyes searched your face, the way you were appearing so shy. the way you’d actually listened when he’d groaned about the sanctions on his wardrobe the week before.
“sure.” he said, moving slightly so you could come sit next to him.
you took the smallest amount of glitter and brushed it across his cheek, eyes focused on your work while he stared into yours, appreciating the colour.
his eyes moved to your lips. he often found himself staring at them. how soft and plump they looked.
if you were anyone else, he would pull you on top of him and have his way with you. he thought about the sounds you’d make as he slipped your panties to the side and teased-
“done.” you said, pulling away and going back to your seat across from him, “there, now you look perfect.”
Luke opened his mouth but the limo door opened, you’d arrived at the ball.
---
you’d been attached to his hip all night. his hand on the small of your back as you greeted all your peers. you kept his drinking to a minimum and oddly enough, he hadn’t minded.
you answered all of the hard questioned and smoothly navigated your way through all sorts of tough discussions on politics, deflecting any negative questions about Luke’s ‘social life.’
Luke found himself watching you effortlessly converse with other royals, how graceful you seemed. but he was getting sort of bored. “Darling, i’m going to grab a drink, want anything?” he asked.
you looked up at him, “maybe a glass of wine.”
“okay.”
you watched him leave before turning back to the people you were talking too but a new group of people were approaching you. you recognized the gang, three of Luke’s friends. among the Royal Bunnies (the girls who made it their mission in life to sleep with royals) this group was called the Pussy Parade.
Calum Hood, Michael Clifford and Ashton Irwin.
“Princess Y/N,” Ashton said, holding out a hand, “pleasure to see you again.”
“where’d Luke run off to?” Calum asked.
“yeah, i wouldn’t leave you alone for a minute if i were him.” Michael piped in.
“matching outfits, quite a statement though.” Ashton pointed out.
you laughed at their eagerness, “nice to see you all again.” you’d met them all once or twice at different royal events but never really talked to any of them.
Luke watched from where he was leaning on the bar, jaw clenching as he tapped his ring clad fingers against the table, “can you hurry?” he snapped at the bar tender, throwing a bill on the counter in the hopes it would light a flame under the mans ass.
his eyes went back to you, surrounded by sharks. his sharks, but sharks none the less.
he hated the way they were all looking you up and down. looking at you like a piece of meat. looking at you like... like he did.
his teeth gritted, “also a shot.” he ordered, throwing another bill on the table.
the shot was placed in front of him and he downed it before grabbing the wine glasses and walking over to where you were standing. “here you go darling.” he said, handing you one.
his free hand immediately went to the small of your back again and you took a sip, eyes widening, “this is the wine from our first date.” you grinned up at him, “you remembered.”
he smiled down at you, a genuine smile that made all of his friends jaws drop, “of course i remembered.”
four sets of eyes widen at this statement. “you can’t even remember my birthday!” Ashton gasped.
Luke rolled his eyes, taking a sip of his wine and shrugging, “you always remind me the week before.”
“he’s got you there bud.” Calum grinned.
“so... how did you two meet?” Michael interrupted.
now was the hard part. Luke wasn’t a fan of lying to his friends but he knew he had to sell this relationship, his hand slipped from the small of your back to your waist, pulling you closer, “i saw her around, thought she was cute, slid into those DM’s, the usual.”
“very romantic.” Calum teased.
you turned your body in towards Luke, tucking your own arm around his waist. in this position, your bodies fit so perfectly and that fact was not lost on you as you stared down his friends, “it was a nice first date.” you insisted.
“yeah, looked like it.” Michael scoffed, “we saw the bathroom pictures.”
you opened your mouth but Luke spoke first, “piss off Michael.”
his strong language drew the attention of the people surrounding your group. “woah, didn’t mean any offence.” Michael said, raising his hands in defence, “just looked like a good time is all i’m saying.”
“this is my girlfriend, watch it.” Luke said, voice lowered as he looked down at Michael. you were once again reminded how big Luke was. his friends were all six foot, at least, but he was still taller. and he was intimidating.
and... he’d called you his girlfriend. which... you were, it even said that ‘girlfriend’ was the preferable term to use when he talked about you, but hearing him actually say it was different. it had been a month and he hadn’t once called you his girlfriend.
“Luke, i think we should take a breather.” you suggested, rubbing your hand up and down his back in an effort to sooth him.
Luke looked down at you then at his friends, slamming the wine and handing the glass to Calum who took it without asking questions as Luke pulled away from you, grabbing your hand and leading you through the crowd outside to one of the terraces.
it was just you and Luke, the air providing a slight but comfortable chill, not yet warm enough to signify the impending summer, but a welcome relief from the temperature inside. “are you okay?” you asked as he let go of your hand and went to lean against the railing, looking out at the city.
you’d been dating a month and part of you would call him a friend but it’s not like the two of you were close and yet something made you approach the tall boy. you began to rub at his tense shoulders, hoping to ease some of the stress.
“they think you’re just a fuck.” he stated, knuckles turning white as he gripped the rail.
“it doesn’t matter what your friends think.” you stated, “in a few months this will be over and you can go back to being leader of the Pussy Party and they won’t even remember this whole thing.”
he remained silent but you felt his muscles tense underneath your hand.
you sighed, “do you want to leave?”
“no.”
“do you want to be alone?”
“no.”
“Luke, can you look at me?”
he remained still for a moment before turning his body to look down at you.
“do you want my wine?” you asked.
he laughed slightly, taking it from your hand and downing it just like the wine he’d drank earlier. before you could tell him to slow down on the alcohol he simply tossed the glass off the terrace, grabbing your face between his hands as he pressed his lips to yours.
he tasted like wine but it intoxicated you as you melted into the kiss, hands going up to wrap around his shoulders. his tongue teased your bottom lip and one of his hands moved to the small of your back, pulling you closer.
your fingers tangled in his hair, something you hadn’t consciously realized you’d wanted to ever do. the curls were soft and you pulled on them slightly, earning a soft groan that you ate up like you were starving. you’d thought his low voice was sexy but those moans were next level.
his teeth sunk into your bottom lip and now it was your turn to moan. the small sound made his heart jump as he let out a breathy “fuck.” his hand moving from your face to your neck where the cold of the rings pressed against your skin. you grabbed at his wrist, not stopping him,
but you pulled away, collecting your breath as you looked down, his heavy panting on your forehead as he struggled to steady his own breathing.
you focused on his green silk shirt. the way he always knew just the perfect amount of buttons to leave open, you wondered what his chest would look like fully exposed and on show for you. your fingers played with the fabric just above his belt, teasing the sensitive skin just above the band. he swore again and you pressed your face into his shirt as his arms wrapped around your body, pulling you against his chest.
his skin was warm and he smelt like expensive cologne.
you both just stood there for a few moments, the sound of your facing heart drowning out the noise of the city bellow. you could feel his own pulse fluttering in his chest.
“shit.” a voice made you pull away from Luke as you both turned to see Calum standing at the doorway to the terrace, “I uhhh... didn’t mean to interrupt, just needed a smoke.” he waved the cigarette as proof.
“it’s fine.” you smiled, fixing your dress and hair, “i should go inside-”
“i’m going to stay out here.” Luke stated, voice deadpan.
you didn’t look at Luke, afraid what you would see in his eyes if you did, so you brushed past Calum and went inside. Calum watched you go before stepping further onto the terrace, lighting his cigarette and taking a large puff, “wasn’t sure if it was real or not.” he breathed, the smoke disappearing into the air as he handed Luke the cigarette.
Luke brought it to his lips, taking a long drag, “if whats real?”
“you and Y/N.” Calum answered, “i mean she’s cute but we both know you don’t do commitment.”
Luke couldn't argue with that. he couldn’t think much about anything as he stood there next to Calum, sharing the cigarette.
maybe it was because you were a challenge. yeah, that had to be it. it had to be. he wasn’t used to not getting what he wanted. yeah. that was it.
he’d just have to fuck you. then he’d be fine. that was a good plan.
Calum finished the cigarette and threw it off the terrace then they both went back inside. you were at the bar with Ashton and Michael and once again Luke felt a surge of anger flow through his body.
his hand went to the small of your back, “i think i’m ready to leave darling.”
you nodded, telling the boys it was nice to see them again before you allowed Luke to lead you to the elevator. he leaned against the wall and you were both silent until you reached the first floor. you stayed silent the entire limo ride, until it stopped in front of your hotel. and then you were gone and Luke remained numb because it was easier than acknowledging the feelings and the thoughts.
----
it had been four days since the gala and Luke hadn’t seen you. things kept popping up in your schedule which was understandable. but he needed to see you.
he was already dressed when his PR assistant knocked on his door, “Y/N canceled.”
“like fuck she did.” Luke muttered, pushing past the assistant.
it was a short walk to your hotel and Luke realized he didn’t have a plan on what to do once he got there. but Luke had always been lucky and he showed up as you were leaving. “you canceled our plans to go do something else?” he asked, voice making you stop just outside your limo.
“i have something to do-” you began.
“cool, i’ll come with.” he said, brushing past you as he got into the limo. you sighed and followed, “are you mad?” he asked.
you were taken aback by his question. part of you had assumed he wouldn’t want to talk about the gala. you guessed he’d be one of those guys who avoided confrontation and refused to communicate. but there he was, blue eyes on yours.
“i’m not mad.” you assured him, “just busy, as i said, are you mad?”
“no.” he said, looking down and fiddling with his rings.
“do you want to talk about it?” you asked.
“not really.”
there was the Prince you knew. you stayed silent the remainder of the limo ride until you arrived at the house, Luke looked around as you exited the limo, “where are we?”
“my cousins baby turned one year old today, i forgot about it if i’m being honest, a year goes by so fast.” you explained as the limo handed you the big pink present from the trunk of the limo.
“we’re at a babies birthday?” Luke asked.
“yeah, you like children right?” you grinned, walking past him towards the house.
there were children everywhere.
Luke stayed glued to your side, letting you do most of the talking like he had at the Gala. but he also introduced himself to the guests which is when he realized, ‘im meeting her cousin. and her aunt. and her uncle.’
he’d never met a girls family before.
you hadn’t asked him to come.
another realization that made his chest ache. what would he have done if you had? he probably would have bailed.
but there was that genuine smile again. the one he was already starting to adore. you were next to your cousin, holding the baby in your arms.
she tugged at your hair and you beamed down at the baby.
Luke found himself getting jealous of the baby who had all of your attention and all of your smiles.
and his chest continued to hurt but he didn’t know why.
your cousins husband approached, leaning next to Luke, “are you two thinking about kids?’ he asked.
Luke choked on his water, sputtering and coughing while your cousins husband patted him on the back until he could breath again, “um, we haven’t been dating long.” he answered.
“oh, sorry, i didn’t realize, i just assumed because well, you’re here and Y/N has never brought a guy to a family event like this. not that guys havent offered to come, we all know they have, but Y/N can be kind of private.”
Luke’s eyes went back to you holding the baby and he winced. now he was thinking about having a baby with you?!
this had been a wild month for Luke, even by his standards. he was confused, and tired and maybe he had a brain tumour or something because if someone had told him two months earlier that he’d be fake dating a girl who is actually super chill and has a beautiful smile and is considering having babies with her he would have said they were fucking crazy. and yet there he was.
you made a particularly cute face at the baby and all the tension Luke had been holding in his shoulders released as he smiled, “babies wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world.” he muttered. and it was true.
he set down his water and approached you and your cousin, “um... do you mind if i hold her?” he asked.
your cousin smiled, “of course!”
you eyed Luke but slowly handed over the baby and he looked down at her with a grin. the baby reached up, wrapping a hand in one of his golden curls and tugging but Luke allowed her to do so.
he even laughed, an angelic sound that warmed your heart as you watched him. you’d never seen him so vulnerable. no walls up. no sassy or sexual remarks. just a beautiful boy holding an adorable baby.
your heart swelled in your chest and your eyes widened with realization that you probably had baby fever so you couldn’t be trusting yourself, but at the same time he looked so soft.
the baby grabbed at his finger, his chipping black nail polish contrasting the tiny baby hands.
“okay, i’ll give her back now.” he said, moving to hand the baby back to your cousin but the baby began to cry and Luke immediately began cooing, “oh no Sweetheart it’s okay, it’s okay baby,” as he rocked her back and forth.
she settled immediately and your cousin laughed, “looks like you’re a natural Luke.”
a blush crept over his skin and you watched in shock as he grinned at your cousin, “you think?”
this couldn’t be real. this couldn’t be the guy known for raunchy sex parties and having a different woman every night. it couldn’t be.
but it was.
he cooed the baby for a while until she fell asleep before he could give her back to her mama. by the time the baby was back in her mama’s arms you had been internally freaking out for thirty minutes about the absolute cuteness of the whole thing and how confused you were.
you grabbed his hand and took him to the bathroom, closing the door and locking it behind you, “what’s going on?” he asked.
“we kissed.” you stated, “and i’m really confused about it.”
“me too.” he said, looking at you very seriously.
you almost laughed, “okay good i’m not the only one. so... what do you want from me?” you asked.
“what do you mean?”
“i mean, we are on this contract for the next few months and if something goes wrong and we hate each other-”
“wouldn’t happen.”
“it could happen-”
“no.”
“and what makes you sure?”
“i couldn’t hate you.” he says, crossing his arms and leaning back against the sink counter.
“well i could hate you.” you pointed out, “if we make this thing real and you cheat-”
“if we made this real i wouldn’t cheat.”
“just like that.” you asked in shock.
“yeah.”
you looked up at him, considering it, but you groaned, “fuck!” you began pacing in front of him, “being around babies always makes me too soft! i can’t think clearly!” Luke watched you pace and he had to admit he knew the feeling.
“then don’t.” he said, hands grabbing your waist and stopping you from pacing as he leaned down and his lips met yours. you were so distracted by kissing him back, fingers going into his hair, that you hadn’t noticed he’d moved you until he lifted you and set you on the sink counter.
standing between your legs he pulled your body flush against his, his lips moving from your lips to your neck as he sucked on the sensitive skin just below your ear.
you let out a moan and Luke grinned against your skin, “open your mouth.” he stated.
you followed his request as two of his fingers slipped into your mouth, he continued sucking on your neck while you began to suck on his fingers. one of the fingers in your mouth had his legacy ring and your tongue slipped around the cold metal, swirling and sucking it up and over Luke’s knuckle before pushing it down again.
“fuck, where’d a Princess like you learn how to use your mouth like that?” he groaned into your ear, slipping his fingers from your mouth.
his hands went to your hips as he pressed against you, you could feel him through his pants and you grinned, “can’t tell you all of my secrets can I?” you teased.
he grinned, pressing his lips against yours again. “fuck, you’re so hot.” he breathed.
“hmm, you like this?” you asked, reaching between the two of you to grab his dick through his pants as you bit down on his lip.
Luke’s fingers dug into your hips, “Fuck yeah.” he breathed.
“what do you want to do to me?” you asked, rubbing him harder as his head lolled back and his eyes closed.
“pump a fucking baby into you.” he stated.
you stopped your motions and his eyes snapped open, “fuck, I uh, i can explain-”
there was a loud knocking on the door, “almost done in there?!”
you pushed Luke away from you, fixing your clothes and hopping off the counter, “just a second!” you called, looking in the mirror to see if you looked okay. you turned to Luke, “we will talk about this later.” you stated before you unlocked the door and went out, Luke following a few seconds later.
“hey, i really gotta get out of here.” Luke stated, “being around all these children is messing with my head.”
“okay, that’s fine, i’ll see you in two days for our Sunday date-”
“come by for dinner.” he stated, “at the palace. i mean, i can’t cook for shit but i have a world class chef-”
“i’ll be there.”
“okay.” he smiled. you turned to go but he grabbed your arm, pulling you into a soft kiss. when he pulled away he smiled, “i’ll see you tonight.”
as soon as he was in the limo Luke swore, punching at the seat. had he seriously just asked you to be ‘exclusive’? had he seriously just promised not to cheat on you?
he began to naw at his lip, it all fairness, he hadn’t slept with another girl in a couple of weeks. the thought of even sleeping with someone else made him feel dirty and Luke had been in plenty dirty situations in his life, many of them self created.
and you were coming over for dinner at his place. he swore again. you hadn’t said yes or no to the whole dating thing and Luke had a few hours to sort himself out.
he rubbed at his temples, still considering that perhaps he just needed to fuck you and then the feelings would go away. well, he’d give that a try and see where it took him.
----
you expected a servant to open the door so when Luke opened it, standing there in that green shirt, you were a bit taken aback. he still looked amazing in it as he pulled you in for a hug. “so this is the palace.” he said, opening the door wider for you to come in.
you’d started the contract around a month ago but all the dates were high profile for publicity so you’d never actually seen where he lived.
he showed you the main rooms and the tour ended in his large bedroom. bedroom wouldn’t even be the word most people would use to describe it. it was practically a studio apartment minus the kitchen.
there was a small dinner table set up with silver platters covering the food. “so how was the rest of the birthday?” Luke asked as you both sat down.
“fine. i left after you did. babies always give me baby fever.” you admitted.
Luke laughed, “me too. that was sort of wild.”
“yeah, i would have never guessed you’d like children.”
“why? because im a quote: pompous, mamas boy?” he teased.
“you forgot arrogant.”
“right, how could i ever forget arrogant?” he rolled his eyes at you.
“so what was the whole ‘pump a baby into you’ thing?” you asked.
“uhh... i don’t know.” he answered, “why, did you like it? would you be down for that?”
you laughed awkwardly, “Luke, these are the kind of questions you ask a real girlfriend.”
“don’t friends talk about this sort of thing?” he asked, “i mean, haven’t you talked to your girlfriends about this?”
“yeah but i mean... are we even friends?”
“earlier today i said you could be my girlfriend if you wanted so yeah, i’d consider us friends. also, you never really gave me an answer on that and it sort of hurts a guys feelings you know.”
“i am your girlfriend.”
Luke rolled his eyes, “you know what i mean.”
you sighed, “i just don’t want things to get messy-”
“oh, you don’t like messy?” he asked.
“not really.” you answered.
all of the sudden he was on his feet, pushing the entire table to the ground while you let out a yelp of shock, jumping to your feet as the table and the food landed on the floor, “Lu-” you began to say but his lips were on yours.
as you relaxed he pulled away, bending down and grabbing you, tossing you onto his shoulder, “oh my god you’re such a Neanderthal!” you screamed, wiggling around in his grip.
then you were falling, landing on plush fur, Luke grabbed your feet and dragged you to the edge of the bed, getting on top of you as his lips attached to yours. he ground his body down against you and you groaned, legs wrapping around his waist.
your fingers tangled into his curls before they moved to the buttons of his shirt, “fuck, this is such a nice shirt.” you groaned.
“knew you’d love it.” he grinned, helping you pull it off his body.
he went back in to kiss you but you stopped him and he pulled away, looking down at you with an odd look, “is this too fast?” he asked, shocked that those words were leaving his lips.
“no, i just want to appreciate you.” you said, fingers tracing his broad chest, “you’ve been teasing me with those button downs exposing just the right amount of chest all month.”
he grinned down at you, running a hand through his messy curls, “you almost done looking Princess?”
“five more seconds.” you smiled up at him.
he laughed but humoured you, waiting for you to finish looking at him, “okay, my turn.” you said, tearing off your shirt and bra as his lips attached to your chest.
his kisses went down your body and he worked on getting your jeans off until they joined the clothes on the ground. his hands went to your hips as his fingers slipped under the waist band of your panties, “are you okay with this?” he asked.
“i thought you were some big sex god, you going to devour me or what?” you laughed, running your fingers through your hair as you laughed.
“i am a sex god, but i like you and i want to make sure you want this as much as i do.” he grinned.
you looked down as he toyed with the last thing between him and you.
“i want this.” you stated.
“hmmm, you don’t sound like you want this darling.” he said, removing his hands.
“no, wait, Luke, please.” you whined, “please.”
his hands returned to your hips, fingers drawing circles on the sensitive skin, “you sure baby?”
“yeah, i’m sure.”
“you’ve never begged a day in your life, have you sweetheart?” he laughed, looking up at you.
this fuck.
but there was truth in it. maybe you’d misjudged him on your first date. “Luke, i’m sorry if i’ve been a bitch, i’m sorry if i judged you at first and thought you were some sex crazed asshole, i’m sorry-”
there was a tearing sound as he ripped your panties in two and you stopped talking, looking down at him in shock. you were about to say something when he buried his face between your thighs. your fingers tingled in his curls and you moaned at the feeling of his tongue working absolute magic.
“oh my god.” you moaned.
“i prefer Sire.” he said, flashing you the cockiest grin you’d ever seen.
“i am not calling you sire.” you groaned as his lips attached to you once more.
one of his hands moved from your hip and up to your face and you opened your mouth, accepting the two digits past your lips as you sucked on them. the silver ring in your mouth was driving you wild.
“suck it off babe.” he instructed.
you did as he asked, pulling the ring off as he slipped his fingers from your mouth, the ring caught between your teeth. you took it from your mouth and slipped it onto one of your own fingers.
his fingers that had been in your mouth curled into you and you moaned loudly, pulling at Luke’s hair as he laughed, “you like that kitten?”
“fuck, yes Luke.”
his fingers stopped, “yes what?”
“yes sir.”
“close but not what i’m looking for babe.” his fingers moved slightly and you moaned.
“yes sire, i love it.”
he grinned, lips attaching to your clit as he pumped his fingers at an unbelievably fast pace, sending your spiralling over the edge as you grabbed the fur blanket, letting out the most sinful noises you’d ever heard in your life as he worked you through your orgasm.
as you came down from your high Luke pulled back, standing up and putting his two fingers in his mouth, “fuck, you even taste pretty babe.”
“please just fuck me.” you begged, unable to say much else as he pushed down his pants and got on top of you, “wait, condoms.”
“you sure you want condoms?”
“Luke!” you laughed, pushing at his chest.
he sighed and moved to his bedside table, pulling out a condom and rolling it on, “you’re no fun.”
your legs wrapped around his waist again as he teased your entrance before pushing in fully. you both groaned at the feeling, his lips attacking yours again as he began to pound into you.
“fuck princess you’re so tight.” he groaned, one of his hands wrapping around your throat as you let out a loud moan, your hands going to grab his wrist, keeping his hand pressed against your skin.
he usually didn’t do missionary. it was too personal. but this just felt right. there was something about it that he couldn’t explain. his lips found yours and you moaned into his mouth.
“if you keep making sounds like that i’m not going to last too long baby.” he groaned, lips going to your neck.
“me neither.” you said, grabbing his ear lobe between your teeth.
his grip on your throat tightened and you moaned louder, the sounds driving him insane and throwing him over the edge. his quickened pace made you cum as well and you both gripped onto each other like your lives depended on it.
he slowed down and you both breathed heavily as he stayed inside of you for a moment, kissing you sweetly on the lips before pulling out and discarding the condom before falling back onto the bed with you and pulling you to his chest.
“wow.” you breathed.
he laughed, “yeah.”
you both stayed there, enjoying each others warmth as you came down from the post sex high. “you ruined the food.” you stated finally.
he laughed, “i’ll order pizza.”
“woah, since when does Prince Luke eat pizza like some commoner?” you giggled.
he grinned, “you’re right, i should get the chef to make lobster-”
“i’m joking Luke. Pizza sounds great.” you curled up in the blankets and by the time the pizza arrived at the door you were asleep. Luke looked at you, curled up in the middle of the bed like such a Princess. that was his spot. this was the reason he never let girls sleep over.
part of him wanted to tell you to hit the road, after all, your hotel was a five minute walk away. but something stopped him and he let out a sigh of exasperation as he found a smoke and went onto the terrace, closing the door as to not wake you.
he’d been standing in this very spot a few weeks earlier, angry about the entire situation. angry about your power over him. and yet, here he was again, letting you sleep on his bed in his spot.
the sex had been... like nothing he’d ever had before. which was odd, because Luke had thought he’d tried just about everything in the book. but not that. not with someone he actually cared for.
he took a long drag of his cigarette and blew out the smoke. he’d assumed this whole fake dating thing would last a few months and he could go back to partying, not giving the whole thing much thought.
but in a few months... he’d be king.
he realized, he’d never be able to go back.
the thought terrified him.
----
Luke buried his face in his pillow, reaching out instinctively but he only grasped air. his eyes opened and he realized he was alone. part of him wondered if it had been a dream but the torn panties and table mess he’d made the night before were still littered on the ground.
and you weren’t there.
it hurt in an odd way. he’d expected you to be there, even half asleep, you’d been his first thought, his first goal of the day.
he groaned and pulled out his phone.
----
Ashton sat in a floaty, Cal with his feet in the water and Michael in the shade as Luke paced back and forth. “when we started dating I didn’t expect to fall in love with her.” Luke explained, “is that even what this is?”
he looked at his friends who all laughed, “don’t look at me mate.” Cal grinned, “you know i think love is fake.”
“Ash?” Luke asked, turning to the eldest.
Ashton shrugged as he sipped his cocktail, “you’ve only been dating a month bud, seems fast to me.”
“also you’ve never had a relationship,” Michael pointed out, “so maybe you’re just in a honey moon phase.”
Luke flailed himself onto a floaty, running his fingers through his hair “this is such a mess!”
“when are you seeing her next?” Cal asked.
“i have no idea! last night wasn’t supposed to happen, the contract-”
“contract?!” Michael interrupted.
“fuck.” Luke cursed himself.
Ashton set down his drink, “you have a lot of explaining to do Hemmings.”
------
You had spent the past two days locked in your room, your phone off as you tried to sort out what had happened. it had been two days since you left before Luke could wake up. two days since he’d literally fucked his way into your heart.
you’d hoped the whole thing had been baby fever but that would have worn off by now and you were starting to worry that something more serious was at play.
could you really like Luke Hemmings? of all the possible princes you could fall for, and you had to fall for the playboy asshole who snapped his fingers at waiters?!
you had no idea what he was feeling about it either because you hadn’t talked to him. he’d suggested being your real boyfriend at the party but its not like that conversation ever got fully explored so who even knew? not you, that’s for sure.
taking a deep breath you turned on your phone, ignoring everything and calling a friend. you’d be damned if you let this whole thing get to your head.
your friend answered on the first ring “Y/N i’ve been trying to get a hold of you for ages! you think your Prince can give you up for the night so you can come party?”
you laughed at the term ‘your prince’ and sighed, “you know what, yeah, i’ll come out.”
-----
Luke’s knee bobbed up and down and his friends stared at him, “it’s bullshit that she doesn’t have a no partying section in her contract and I can’t believe she’d go out and not even answer my texts first.” Luke groaned.
“well she’s not technically your girlfriend-” Michael pointed out but Ashton punched his shoulder lightly.
“she’s probably just freaked out. like you are.” Ashton said, smiling warmly at his friend.
“and you can confront her yourself.” Cal pointed out as the limo pulled up in front of the club.
Luke took a deep breath, running a hand through his unruly curls, “how do i look?”
“you’re a fucking panty dropper mate. don’t worry.” Ashton said before the door opened and they all climbed out.
flashes started immediately and a few people screamed “Pussy Party!” which made Michael grin and scream “Pussy Party!” with the crowd as they were escorted through the VIP door.
Luke looked around the club. he’d missed the flashing lights and the feel of bass in his chest. as soon as they entered girls began approaching. Ashton grabbed two blondes right away and Michael likewise broke off from the pack with two girls.
Cal is the only one who stayed, hand on Luke’s shoulder as they both looked around. “there.” Cal said, pointing towards the bar.
the last time Luke had seen you, you’d been sprawled out on his bed, your naked body only slightly covered by his fur blanket.
and there you were, in yet another stunning dress, a drink in your hand as you talked to a few people. Luke immediately recognized one of them by his dark curly hair and cheeky grin.
Luke’s fists clenched at his sides and he took a step forward but Cal grabbed his arm, “you can’t just go in there guns blazing mate.”
“like fuck i can’t.” Luke said, pulling away from Cal and barreling towards you. a few girls tried to get in his way but he pushed past them.
Prince Harry saw Luke’s approach and smiled “hey Luke!” he grinned.
you froze as you felt Luke come to stand directly next to you, his hand going to the small of your back, “Harry.” he greeted before turning to you. you looked up at him hesitantly, “long time no see, babe.”
“yeah, um... haven’t been feeling well.” you answered.
“your phone’s been off.” Luke stated.
you sighed at his possessiveness, “how did you know i’d be here Luke?”
“the paps saw you come in.” he answered, “people were wondering why i wasn’t with you so my mentions blew up.”
“come to think of it, why didn’t you two arrive together?” Harry interjected, leaning on the bar and looking at the two of you with furrowed brows, “you’d be daft to leave a stunner like Y/N alone.”
Luke’s jaw feathered and you noticed immediately, recognizing his anger radiating off of him like it had at the Gala, and on that night you’d been talking to a friend of his, not a rival. this was not going to end well for anyone.
you felt the pull of your contractual duty as you set down your drink and wrapped your arms around Luke’s waist, leaning against his side before smiling sweetly at Harry, “i’m sorry, you’ll have to excuse my boyfriend, he can get jealous sometimes.”
Luke kept his mouth shut as he glared down at Harry.
one of your hands pressed against his chest and you looked up at him, and finally he looked down at you. he could feel the anger still coursing through his veins.
you were his.
his arm went over your shoulders, “excuse us.” he said to Harry, voice a growl as he began leading you through the crowd.
“where are we going?” you asked.
he didn’t answer as he pushed you in front of him and into one of the lavish, VIP club bathrooms, closing the door and locking it.
the last time you’d been in a bathroom he had been a soft boy but standing in front of you now was a very angry, sexy, man.
his shoulders heaved as he looked down at you, taking a step forward as you stepped back until your back hit the wall. his hand came to rest next to your head as he leaned down to be eye level with you.
“you like seeing me jealous?” he asked, voice searing into you, “you like flirting with other men while you’re dating me?”
“i wasn't-” you began but then you realized, “this whole thing is PR-”
“not to me.” he growled, pressing his lips against yours.
you wanted to be mad but the whole situation was making your heart race. you were friends with Harry, nothing more. you hadn’t meant to make Luke jealous but you had to admit, jealous Luke was a panty dropper.
your fingers went up into his curls as he bent down lifting you up and wrapping your legs around your waist as he pressed you back against the wall. your fingers danced over his shoulders as he bit down at your bottom lip.
having your legs wrapped around his waist had pushed your dress up and you could feel him through the thin fabric of your panties as you groaned into his mouth.
“Luke.” you whimpered as his mouth moved to your neck, teeth grazing your skin. he sucked on the area for a few moments, fingers digging into your thighs as he held you up.
he finally pulled away from your neck and moved to set you down on the sink counter, his hands going to his belt as he undid it. your fingers fumbled with the buttons of his shirt, finally getting the button down open so your fingers could roam his chest, exploring the ridges of his abdomen and the beautiful V-line disappearing into his pants.
when his belt was undone he stopped, kissing you again as he reached between your bodies and once again tore your panties in half to get them off of you, “you have to stop doing that.” you laughed against his lips.
“i’ll buy you new ones.” he promised, nipping at your lower lip as your arms encircled his shoulders. his hand reached into his back pocket and he pulled out a condom.
you expected him to fuck you like that but he pulled you down off the sink, forcing you to turn so your back was to him as his hand pushed you down over the sink, ass in the air. his eyes met yours through the mirror as he lined himself up with your entrance, hands steadying on your hips in a grip that you knew would leave marks.
he slammed into you and you moaned, moving to press your cheek against the counter but a hand wrapped in your hair, pulling your head up, “watch me while i fuck you.” he growled, eyes still on yours through the mirror.
“you’re mine.” he stated as he continued to pound into you mercilessly, “say it.”
his grip tightened on your hair, “I’m yours.” you repeated.
he let go of your hair, a hand coming down to smack your bum, “Louder.”
“I’m yours Luke.” you whined, moaning as he hit a new spot inside of you.
this answer seemed to satisfy him as his head tipped down to look at where he was entering you, both hands returning to your hips as he continued to pound in and out.
“up.” he instructed.
you pushed yourself up a bit and his hand came around the front of your body to wrap around your throat, pulling you up flush against his chest but being taller than you wasn’t making the angle that easy. he swore under his breath, pulling out of you and easily man handling you to be sitting on the counter again as he easily slide back into you.
his lips captured yours as your legs went around his waist and one of his hands cupped your face. “mine.” he hissed against your lips.
“Luke i’m gonna-” you began but he cut you off with a kiss.
“me too.”
his other hand gripped your thigh as his pounding got faster, lips on yours as you both reached your highs, letting out sinful moaning and whimpering sounds as he stilled inside of you.
you both breathed heavily, foreheads touching as he stayed there for a few moments.
he pulled out of you and discarded the condom and your ruined panties, fixing his pants then lifting you off the counter and setting you down. he pulled your dress down, running a hand through your messy hair to fix it as he looked you over, not quite sure what to say to you, his gaze lingered on your neck where you knew there was a hickie forming.
“I... uh...” he struggled.
you looked up at the Prince, the guy who always knew what to say and yet here he was, tongue tied. “that was amazing.” you said, hoping it would help him find the right words and ease whatever conflicted emotions he was obviously feeling.
he laughed, removing his hand from where it had been cupping your face to do his buttons, “i knew it from the first day i met you, you’d like the kinky stuff.”
“Luke!” you laughed at the return of his cockiness as he did up his shirt, moving to smack his chest but his hand caught yours and he pulled you to his front, looking down at you with a grin.
“don’t play dumb kitten. we both know you’re a dirty girl.” his words made you let out a breath as you wondered if a round two was a possibility but knocking at the door interrupted your thoughts. someone was always interrupting you two.
Luke put his arm over your shoulders as the two of you exited the bathroom. “do you want to stay for a bit?’ you asked.
“not really.” he answered, looking down at you and laughing at the shock in your face, “i usually used to go clubbing for women but that’s not a good reason anymore.” he explained, leaning down to press his lips to yours.
you beamed up at your boyfriend. the two of you left the club, he shielded you from the paparazzi waiting outside as he held open the limo door for you before getting in himself, sitting next to you with his hand on your thigh.
“so we’re actually dating.” you stated.
he laughed, “yeah, who would have fucking thought?”
you pushed at him and he wrapped his arms around you, “either this is real or this is the worst case of baby fever ever.”
----
two months later it was announced that Luke Hemmings would be the next king. people were okay with it. everyone remembered the way Luke had been just months earlier but since he met you, everyone had seen the change.
it was something in his eyes. an emotion that no one had ever seen there before.
it was the way he always had to be touching you, or protecting you from cameras.
it was just the way he was with you.
preparations were made for his coronation. his parents set up to move to a palace in the country they’d always planned on going to after retirement. Luke was in meetings most days but he always arrived back at the palace to find you, adorned in a new set of lingerie he had bought for you. he had entered a new chapter of his life and it was obvious to everyone around.
he no longer snapped his fingers at servants and everyone who worked on the grounds noted the change.
the coronation was a big deal and Luke was worried about the whole situation but throughout the ceremony, if he ever felt lost or scared, his eyes would just find yours as you’d offer an encouraging smile.
when the festivities had ended and everyone went home, you and Luke finally had the palace to yourselves. he’d sent all the servants home to celebrate. the only sound in the entire palace was the sound of you laughing as Luke chased you around the long hallways, ready to ‘christen’ every room with your love.
it was wild, as you ran through the palace, chased by the boy you loved, to think that he was king.
you ran to the bedroom and expected him to chase you. when you jumped into the bed and turned to find he wasn’t there, you furrowed your eye brows, sitting up. “Luke!?” you called.
he entered the room a short while later, “sorry, i was um... just grabbing something.” he said, holding whatever it was behind his back.
“do you have a present for me?” you teased as he took a few steps into the room.
he grinned sheepishly and your heart fluttered, wondering what it could possibly be. “so we’ve been dating for four months-”
“if you include the PR month.” you pointed out.
he rolled his eyes, “fine, we’ve been dating for three months. and...” his adams apple bobbed as he swallowed, then he got on a knee, “i’ve never been more sure about anything in my life.” he pulled out a small velvet box that he had been hiding behind his back, opening it to reveal a ring, “i’m sure about this. Princess Y/N, will you take me, a cocky, arrogant mama’s boy, to be your husband?”
you laughed at his inclusion of ‘arrogant’ because he always seemed to forget it, but not this time. looking down at the beautiful boy in front of you, your heart felt like it was soaring out of your chest as you nodded, feeling your eyes begin to swell.
“yes.” you said.
his face lit up as he removed the ring, taking your hand softly and slipping it onto your finger.
then he was on top of you, body pressing you into the bed as your arms wrapped around his shoulders and his lips pressed against yours. you were both smiling so much that it was hard to kiss so you pushed at him, rolling so you could be on top.
you laced your fingers with his, marvelling at the ring on your finger as you looked down at him. “how did i ever get so lucky?” you asked.
“well i was given a bunch of folders-” he began but stopped as you laughed and pushed at his chest, “you know i’m a king right. you can’t push me around anymore.”
“oh yeah?” you asked as he rolled his way on top of you again, lips finding yours.
“yeah.” he said, rubbing his nose against yours slightly to make you laugh.
you smiled at each other, not a care in the world. “I love you Luke Hemmings.”
Prince lu with a breeding kink is something worth discussing. Him fucking you so hard, practically slamming his hips into yours, after a night out with some dude trying to hit on you. Soft prince would go so rough, fucking your so deeply you can’t control your moans. “You’re mine, princess. Gonna pump a fucking baby into you so everyone knows. Gonna fill you up with my cum and make you feel real good” and “you like my cum baby? You want to give me an heir?”
I AM SCREECHING OH MY GOD! @glitterprincelu die with me hoe.
okay. holy shit. where do i even start. wow. Prince Luke would be HUGE on the jealousy factor because he’s a fucking prince and you are HIS. he doesn’t even want that shit contested because you just are. jealousy always makes him SO ROUGH, like we’re talking choking and ESPECIALLY MARKS. “gonna mark up that pretty fucking neck so everyone knows you’re taken.” and yeah, when he’s mad he goes just the smallest bit deeper because of how hard he’s thrusting and it just drives him wild.
“You’re mine, princess. Gonna pump a fucking baby into you so everyone knows. Gonna fill you up with my cum and make you feel real good” and “you like my cum baby? You want to give me an heir?”
ugh what a MOOD. like i can’t even follow that because hot damn you hit it so spot on and i am dying. and he really wants a response. like, he NEEDS you to affirm him and be like “fuck, cum inside me Luke, please” like he likes it when you beg. “yes Luke, wanna give you an heir so bad, please.”

Michael’s POV
“You’re acting as though you’d never seen a pretty girl before, Your Highness,” the Captain of the guard said, walking with Michael down the hallway on his way to see his dad.
“She wasn’t just a pretty girl, Captain,” Michael shook his head, “She was different – like she had more of a story to tell. She was extraordinary. I didn’t want her to stop talking. I wanted to find out everything about her and her life and what she does and-”
“But you’ve only met her once,” he cut off the Prince’s rambling.
“I know!” he sighed, “So I have no idea why I’m so hung up on her already!”
“Hung up on who, Mike?” the King asked as his son and the Captain entered the room.
“No one, Dad,” he answered.
“The Prince met a girl in the woods while we were hunting, Your Majesty,” the Captain ratted Michael out, only making the blonde sigh again.
“Well, why not tell me about her?” the King insisted, “I do enjoy listening to stories of princesses you fancy if they could come to rule this kingdom one day.”
“But she’s not a princess,” Michael stated, “So you wouldn’t be interested in hearing about her.”
“Son, I’ll still listen-”
“But you’ll just tell me nothing could ever happen with her, Dad, and that’s not what I want to hear,” he said, giving his father the most serious expression, “You want me to fall in love with a princess and I respect your wishes, but I want the freedom to choose my future queen – previously royal or not.”
“You know that’s not how the laws work, Michael,” the King sighed – he knew how much his son hated the idea of someone else deciding who he should fall in love with.
“Because you refuse to even attempt to change them,” Michael reminded him.
“Mike, I would have to have a 2/3 vote from Parliament and they’re not exactly as open-minded as you are about these kinds of things.”
“I know – I’ve met them,” he grumbled, “But it would be nice if my father would at least try.” Michael didn’t give his father a chance to respond, leaving him sighing once again as his son left the room.
~
Three hours later
As the dishes from lunch were being cleared from the table around them, Michael and his father were sitting there talking. Well... His father was talking – Michael was just listening. He couldn’t get the girl he met in the woods out of his head no matter how hard he tried, and he didn’t want to keep wondering when he was going to see her again – if he ever saw her again at all.
“You have to meet the princesses as they arrive,” the King rambled on, “And then you’ll be required to dance with each of them and pick who you would like to take as your bride.”
“On one condition,” Michael finally spoke. The King motioned for him to go on. “Let the invitations go to everyone in the kingdom – not just nobility from around the country.” He cocked an eyebrow before shrugging.
“Very well,” he said, “Invitations will go to everyone.” Michael smiled as he went on. “I want you to go meet with Bethany so she can get started on your outfit for the ball,” he said, “I will be working with Andy on the invitations.” Michael got up from his seat, heading toward the seamstress’s room, when he was joined by someone else.
“You want your mystery girl to attend,” the Captain smiled knowingly, “That’s why you’re wanting everyone to be invited.”
“If my father just meets her, I know he’ll like her!” Michael exclaimed softly, “It’s worth a shot!”
“And what if he doesn’t, Your Highness?” Michael sighed for a moment before throwing his arms up.
“Then I’ll run away with her!” he concluded, “And we’ll start a new life together free of rules and royal regulations!”
“Sure, you will,” he chuckled.

Your POV
“I don’t understand why you stay with them,” your best friend said as you two were walking around the town square.
“I’ve told you already, Luke,” you sighed, “My parents built a house they loved so I could grow up in it; I can’t just abandon it.”
“I would hardly call it your parents’ house anymore,” he shook his head, “The only thing Clara didn’t change about it was the structure itself. If I hadn’t known what it looked like before your parents passed, I would think you were certifiably insane.”
“You still think I’m certifiably insane,” you snickered, shoving him with your elbow.
“And speaking of thinking you’re certifiably insane, would you mind telling me about this little encounter you had this morning again, please?”
“Luke,” you groaned.
“I’m just trying to understand your logic here!” he defended, “Because if I were to meet some stranger in the woods at 8:30 in the morning, I wouldn’t automatically assume he was my soulmate.”
“I did not say he was my soulmate!” you squeaked, shoving him again.
“But you do think he’s the dreamiest boy you’ve ever laid your eyes on,” he sighed dramatically, placing his hand over his heart.
“This is why I don’t tell you anything,” you remarked.
“Come on, Y/N,” Luke shook his head, “He lives at the palace; How do you think you’re ever going to see him again?” You were silent for a moment – you hadn’t thought about seeing him again would happen – but luckily, you didn’t have to think for long.
“Attention!” someone called out, making everyone look over at where the voice was coming from. You didn’t know who it was, but with the way he was dressed, he was definitely from the palace. “If I could have your attention, please!” he said again, waiting until everyone was done whispering amongst each other to continue. “There will be a royal ball held at the palace this Saturday night!” he informed everyone, “Upon request of the young Prince Michael, everyone in the kingdom – be they noble or commoner – will be invited to attend!”
Your heart skipped a beat at the announcement but also... Prince Michael? That couldn’t be who you met in the woods that morning... Could it?
“Huh,” Luke said, bringing you back to reality, “I guess you could see your mystery soulmate again after all.” The four men who came along with the announcer began handing out envelopes with the invitations and as soon as you got yours, you knew you had to go home to begin searching for a dress.
“I’ll see you later, Lu,” you said, not even giving him a chance to say goodbye before you were running in the direction of your house, leaving him shaking his head with a chuckle and continuing about his day.
As you approached your home, you thought about not telling your step-family but in the end, you knew you had to. After the ball was over, you would still have to live with them, and you really did not want your life to get any worse than it already was by making them angry.
“Hello?!” you called out as you opened the door, “Where is everybody?!”
“What is it, Y/N?” Clara rolled her eyes, coming into the room with your step-sisters.
“I just thought you’d like to read this invitation from the palace,” you said. The moment you mentioned it was from the palace, Kathryn and Abigail practically fought each other to take it from your hand before Clara plucked it out of all three of your grasps.
“A royal ball...” Clara murmured, then looked at her...biological...daughters, “A royal ball! Girls! Go get ready! We must buy you new dresses immediately!” The girls were only just stepping onto the staircase when they froze as you spoke up.
“What about me?” you asked softly, making everyone look at you.
“What about you?” Clara asked.
“Mother!” Abigail laughed, “Does she actually think she’s going to the ball?”
“What a laughable concept!” Kathryn chimed in, “Y/N, going to a royal ball!”
“It says everyone in the kingdom is invited,” you reminded them, “And I am in the kingdom.”
“Of course,” Clara said with a crooked grin, “You may go.”
“Mother!” the girls exclaimed, only to stop when Clara held her hand up to shush them.
“You may go to the ball,” she continued, “But only if you can find a dress on time.” You smiled brightly, hurrying past the girls to go to your room in the attic to get ready.
“Mother, you can’t be serious!” Abigail whined when you were out of earshot.
“Get ready!” Clara whispered roughly, “Hurry up!” Abigail and Kathryn looked at each other before the corners of their mouths started curling up into an evil grin, now knowing what their mother was trying to do.
It hadn’t even been two minutes before you were coming back down the stairs, hearing the front door slam shut. Your eyes widened, running the rest of the way and opening the door just as your step-family was getting into the carriage, laughing as they were taken toward town without you.
You watched in shock for a moment – not really in disbelief because you should have known they weren’t actually going to allow you to go with them – before you reentered your house. You closed the door and began walking back up the stairs in determination – if you weren’t going to be allowed to buy a new dress for the ball, you were going to do everything in your power to make your own.

“I am going to find who this belongs to,” Michael stated firmly, standing up, “Even if I have to visit every household in this kingdom myself.”
The next day, Michael woke up bright and early to begin scouring the kingdom for his runaway mystery girl. The kingdom made an announcement that every maiden in the kingdom try on the glass slipper you’d left behind – though Michael knew he didn’t need someone to try on a shoe to know when he found her, he went along with it.
But, after nearly 12 hours of searching, as Michael approached the final house – your house – he was starting to think this whole thing was hopeless. Maybe his princess didn’t live in the kingdom, maybe she wasn’t home at the time he went there, maybe she just didn’t want to see him again… But he had to know. He could deal with a refusal to be with him, but he couldn’t handle not knowing why.
The Captain of the guard approached the front door of your home, knocking and stepping back as he waited for it to be opened. Clara smiled as she revealed herself, obviously already knowing why they were there – and she’d made sure to lock you in your room, of course, so you didn’t even have a chance at being who the Prince was looking for.
“Hello,” she curtsied, “Please, come in.” She moved out of the way as she ushered for him to come inside. “Kathryn! Abigail!” she called over her shoulder, “Come in here!” Your step-sisters gracefully entered the foyer.
“Yes, Mother?” Kathryn smiled.
“Girls,” Clara said, “This gentleman is from the royal palace. He would like to have a word with you.”
“Of course, Mother,” Abigail said as she and Kathryn curtsied to him.
The Captain came into the house and your step-mother led him and the girls to the living room. Your step-sisters both sat on the ottoman – the Captain kneeling down in front of Kathryn first. She tried desperately to force her foot into the shoe, but it just wouldn’t happen.
“It fits! I swear it!” Kathryn insisted.
“Oh, give it up, Kathryn,” Abigail rolled her eyes, shoving her sister onto the floor and scooting over with a smile. The Captain let out a small breath as she tried the same thing – trying to push her foot into the shoe to no avail. “Are you sure it hasn’t shrunk?” she asked through gritted teeth.
“I’m sure,” the Captain replied monotonously, taking the shoe back and returning to his feet. “I’m terribly sorry for any inconvenience, Madam,” he told Clara, “We will be off now.” She nodded, leading him back to the front door and opening it so he could leave.
Your POV
Having no idea what was going on downstairs – you had only woken up to Clara locking the attic door, and given no reason why she did it – you sighed as you looked out the window. You sat there for a moment before you started humming to yourself. You didn’t quite know how the song was stuck in your head seeing as you only heard it once, but you couldn’t help but get up from the window seat, somehow remembering every single word.
“I’ll take what you got, got, got. I know it’s not a lot, lot, lot. ‘Cause I just need another hit. You’re the thing that I can’t quit,” you sang to yourself as you danced around the attic, recounting the same dance you had with the Prince as he sang the words to you, “You got what I want, want, want, here and then you’re gone, gone, gone. If you told me that we were through, you know that I would break the truth.”
Michael’s POV
As the Captain was stepping off of the front steps, everyone froze when they heard faint singing. They looked around, noticing it wasn’t any of them. Clara listened in shock, not realizing that anyone would have been able to hear you from all the way on the ground floor.
As the chorus was sung, Michael’s heart skipped a beat. There were only two people he’d ever sung that song to – the Captain, when he’d overheard him in his bedroom singing it to himself one day, and his mystery girl.
So he immediately took his cloak off, making Clara’s eyes widen.
“Your Majesty…” she swallowed thickly, slowly falling to the floor in shock.
“That is a lovely song, Madam,” Michael said, “Sounds an awful lot like something I’ve written myself.”
“Are you sure there are no other maidens in your house, ma’am?” the Captain asked.
“O-Of course not,” Clara shook her head.
“Then has your cat learned to sing?” She was frozen once again, not sure what to say.
“Captain,” Michael smiled, “I do believe you should go investigate.”
“With pleasure, Your Majesty,” he grinned, turning back to Clara. He gave her a stern look and she had no choice but to let him back into the house. The Captain walked with Clara up every single flight of stairs until they finally reached the attic.
Your POV
You jumped when you heard the door open, making you stop singing. Your eyes widened as you saw your step-mother with the Captain of the guard, having no idea that anyone from the castle was even at the house. You instantly curtsied respectfully as he spoke.
“Miss,” he said, “Your Royal Highness Prince Michael is requesting to see you downstairs.” Your heart skipped a beat – Michael is here?
The Captain held his hand out to you, prompting you to step forward slowly. As you reached up to place your hand in his, your step-mother grabbed your wrist.
“What do you think you’re doing?” she grumbled.
“She is obeying direct orders given to her by an officer of the King,” the Captain answered for you, obviously hearing her, “And I’m ordering you to release her and let her come with me this instant. Who are you to order her to disregard orders given by a Royal?”
“I am her mother,” Clara growled, never looking away from you.
“You have never been, and never will be my mother,” you replied firmly.
Clara glared at you as she let go of your wrist – you knew that even she would never disobey a Royal’s orders – and you finally placed your hand in the Captain’s, letting him lead you out of the room. As he took you down the second flight of stairs, he leaned over and whispered to you.
“I have no doubt you’re who the Prince is searching for, Miss,” he said, making you grin widely, “But even if you weren’t, I wouldn’t let you stay with that woman for one more minute.”
“Thank you,” you choked lightly. You felt him squeeze your hand a bit as you reached the bottom of the final staircase.
Your breathing picked up when he led you to the front room, letting go of your hand and ushering you toward the doorway. You stopped just before you reached it, took one last deep breath, and entered the room.
Michael spun around the moment he heard someone come in and his face lit up, not even needing to put the shoe on you to know that you were his mystery girl. He still did, however – holding his hand out to you and taking you to the chair in front of the fireplace. You sat down and he took the shoe out from behind his back, kneeling down on one knee.
“I heard you singing my song,” he informed you, making you blush as you obviously didn’t think anyone would be able to since you were all the way in the attic, “And I know very well that this shoe belongs to you, but I suppose we should do the whole thing anyway.”
“Since we’re already here…” you said softly, the smile on your face causing him to grin as well.
You slipped your foot out of the ballet flat you were wearing and he took your ankle, helping you slide your foot into the glass slipper, revealing the perfect fit. You both smiled at each other again while he stood back upright, taking your hands and bringing you with him.
“You have no idea how long I’ve been searching for you,” Michael murmured, bringing you close to him.
“Well, it looks like your search is over, Your Highness,” you informed him, making him chuckle.
“Does this mean I finally get to know your name?”
“Y/N,” you told him, your voice barely even coming out due to the nervousness of how close his lips had gotten to yours.
“Y/N,” he repeated under his breath, your face heating up, “That’s beautiful.” You would have thanked him, but his lips were on yours right after the comment.
You both let out sighs of relief – his for finally finding you and yours for knowing you were finally free from your horrible step-mother and step-sisters. Michael moved his hands to your hips, allowing you to place yours on his cheeks, your thumbs stroking his cheekbones slightly. Neither of you noticed the Captain, your step-mother, or your step-sisters standing in the doorway – not that you would have cared anyway.
Because – finally – you got your happily ever after.
