5 Years Later - The Sudeley Family
Next on our list of royals to catch up with is Prince Leo and Lady Lily, the Marquess and Marchioness of Sudeley and their young family. We last left the Sudeley’s around Princess Cressida’s second birthday, and since then the family has only grown. One year later, on Princess Cressida’s third birthday, the couple welcomed a new addition: Prince George Hugo Reginald!
Prince George was christened privately at the royal chapel at Alnwick Palace with his godparents and extended family present. The young prince’s godparents are HRH Prince Arthur of Windshire, Her Majesty Queen Alma of Simovia, and Their Majesties the King and Queen of the United Kingdom. The Marquess and Marchioness reportedly chose his godparents to honor those who remained close to Winchester during the Great Sim War, which deeply affected the couple.
The couple have also been busy working since the birth of Prince George, with the Marquess performing part-time as a soloist with the Royal Orchestra as well as traveling around the country advocating for children’s music education. The Marchioness has also been hard at work since publicly sharing about her struggles with postpartum depression following the birth of her daughter and son.
In a now-famous speech given at a banquet for the National Association for Women’s Health, Lady Lily shared about her realization that something was off with her health. She said,
“The period of time both preceding and following the birth of my daughter was a traumatic time for us personally. We lost our son in utero, we nearly lost our daughter, and shortly after we suffered the loss of my brother-in-law, all while dealing with a major war. I was struggling to cope, but I attributed the way I was feeling to the trauma I was dealing with. However, after the birth of my son, George, I faced the same feelings. I once again was experiencing the same symptoms I felt after the birth of my daughter. After speaking with my husband and doctor, I was diagnosed with postpartum depression. I chose to share this information with you all because I believe that sharing my diagnosis will help other mothers in our country come to terms with the diagnosis, should they receive it. I am grateful to my fantastic medical team and my family for helping me through that period of time, and I am committed to helping the mothers of Winchester who may experience what I did. Nobody must experience postpartum depression alone.”
Since the banquet, the Marchioness has spent much of her time speaking with women experiencing postpartum depression and has become a champion of awareness for the disorder.
As for the children, Princess Cressida and Prince George are two darling young children who are each the spitting image of their parents. Princess Cressida, now 7, is a student at Tresham Academy, where her older cousin Princess Sophie was a student. Prince George, just 3, is reportedly a “very curious boy” who loves the outdoors and the family dog, Annie.
Come back tomorrow for our catch-up with the Duke and Duchess of Windshire and their three children.
