I will admit Meghan Trainor has a certain grace about her, and the inclusion of that extremely happy black man in the video was a nice touch, but I find her voice very put-on and annoying. Also, our counter-culture is apparently incapable of celebrating larger women without putting down thinner women. Otherwise, the overall message would be VERY good.

It links to the concept of "retroactive rape" (which I admit I just came up with before I made the post) becuase I realized that under Yes Means Yes/ Affirmative Consent logic (as reported by Katherine Timpf), the man would be unable to prove consent for anything that happened, in the first scenario, beyond the last point the woman said "Yes!" before she said "No!". And in the second scenario, if the woman changes her mind about whether she wanted any/all of it the morning after, then the man is retroactively unable to prove consent for everything that happened, because she said she wanted it, but clearly she didn't.

And of course, the logic goes, if he is unable to prove consent, he is a rapist.

Of course, this kind of logic bothers me a lot, which is why I asked.

like i see this shit all the time. someone from a specific culture or group writes about appropriative/racist/ableist thing, and you got people who aren't part of that group reblogging it and @ing their friend who is part of that group with captions like "[insert url] take out the trash" like . . . you think your one or two or three black friends saying "there is absolutely nothing wrong with this" cancels out an act of appropriation? what i think is offensive? get your soggy ass off my post.

offense isn't judged by who doesn't consider it offensive. whether something is offensive or not depends on the people--if any--who do take offense.
