i recently started junk journaling in addition to the regular diary format and was looking for some "junk" to add to the spreads. I used to make collages from newspaper and magazine clippings when i was younger but it has been such a long time that i was curious about some titles I used to read and sad to find out they are no longer in print! There were some magazines that I was glad to stop subscribing to at the time since it felt like a money drain, but now i wish i held onto those magazines.

I saw that some companies now sell 'junk journaling packs' with typography and other paper type products you would have found in a magazine or newspaper... but, at least to me,.... that's not what junk is supposed to be. it's supposed to feel organic, free and happenstance. sometimes you flip through the pages of a magazine and you gravitate towards the photos or the typography.

i know there's still plenty of "junk" to be found from elsewhere, from labels, products, etc... but i guess i feel kind of sad that so much of the print medium i used to enjoy is no longer available.

a helpful rule of thumb for brits looking at us news and vice versa is that the prestige and high bar for accuracy and trustworthiness associated with print in the us is associated with broadcast in the uk and the blatant lies general scumminess and right-wing propagandism associated with broadcast in the us is associated with print in the uk

not a hard and fast rule but can be helpful to keep your gauge calibrated
