Temporary Project - Secondary Research (18/10/22)

Yesterday i did a workshop on printmaking. Following on from that I am looking at body printing this week. Body printing is a temporal performance art that captures a portrait of the body at that moment in time (temprary)

One body print artist that I am inspired by is Elizabeth Walden. Walden, inspired by David Hammons (another body print artist I will look into) started body printing in 2013. She puts vegetable oil mixed with pigments on her body, makes a print, then she uses that print as a basis or a landmark for her landscape artworks.

By nature some of her artworks are abstract or semi-representational .

I love Walden's use of colour and layering through printing. I can't wait to start creating body prints like these this week!

3D printed Orthosis, based on the patient’s 3D scan, is designed and printed to replace plaster cast to facilitate healing of scars after surgery. The prototype is printed by @baltic3d for @project_wide. Using this printed cast makes it easier to take a shower, because it is waterproof. The model is also easy to take off when needed. The patient will not have to use it for more than 2 months and in these cases use of the hard PLA plastic is permitable. Inspired by the sinking feeling and difficulty of running on sand, these striking resistance trainers are the brainchild of Aarish Netarwala. Called the Adidas Grit, the futuristic shoe has a latticed, 3D printed sole, meant to make the user work harder to do their workouts. It’s a fascinating idea, using 3D printing to make a user work harder, versus continually adding ease-of-use benefits.
