open harvest festival starter :
the harvest festival was in full swing. it had only started a few hours ago, yet it seemed the entire town was in attendance. their faces lit up with a joy and curiosity that she hasn't seen in a while. emilie had no plans to join in on any of the activities, just watch from the sidelines. fall was her favorite time of year. the colors of the leaves, the smells, the crisp air. pumpkin picking, apple trees blooming in full force. it was positively beautiful. the start of new beginnings. trees, and flowers shedding their pasts, to grow even more gorgeous than the year before.
stopping as she passed the area where they were setting up for pumpkin carving. her face softening slightly as she took in the scene around her. if she had planned on carving pumpkins she had the perfect design in mind. instead, she stood to the side, sipping a hot apple cider, and just taking in her surroundings. everything being set up perfectly. the laughter. the biggest pumpkins the town could find. today she didn't need her nose in a book to enjoy the world around her. today she could actually enjoy the world she lived in.
