16 Days of FPX: The Plastic Eaters – Day 11 “Defeated Enemy”
Produced by Connect and features Brother Seamus
Welcome to Day 11, let’s go over how “Defeated Enemy” was created. First off, typically what I do when I make a beat is give it a title based off of where the main sample comes from. For example, if I sampled a song called “Resurrection” I might end up calling the beat “Death in Sections” or something along those lines. It works for me because I hate naming beats but it’s far easier to distinguish them from one another when I’m searching for one in particular rather than naming them “Beat 1” and “Beat 2” or whatever. This beat happened to keep its name of “Defeated Enemy.” This track got cracking when Brother Seamus was in town from New Orleans. We really wanted to get him on a track for The Plastic Eaters album so he stopped out at my house one night to check some beats out. I might have played 3 or 4 beats for him and he chose this one. He actually had a verse written and ready to go already so we recorded it that same night. Naedon and I just followed his lead and Naedon laced the bridge between the verses with the crowd cheers.
Favorite Lines:
Brother Seamus
“From the gutter to the highest of plains it’s all about how your mouth relates to shit in your brain”
Naedon:
“Naedon speak rhymes of the third kind/ double jaw rap wind tunnel word turbine”
“FPnetics in the field we the medics/ We gonna kill your ears with the real anisthetics”
“My shit radical, mathematical/ Me plus a beat equal emcee cannibal”
Connect:
“It’s my DOWN TOWN ESCAPE PLAN some people won’t get it/ There’s no swag in the edit no JASON JAY in the credits/ Foritifying phonetics still MYTHODAKILLy CONNECTIN’/ I’m focused RIGHT NOW not DISTRACTED by the hectic”
“FPX will swim through a sea of parasites to find paradise/ I’ll parachute through a sky where the missiles are flying/ For drum loops, my wife, my fam, my crew, that’s it”
Those first four lines are a shout out to my first rap group. We went by MtyhConn, which was short for Mythoddakill Connection, and the words in caps were song titles of ours.
That’s it for “Defeated Enemy” tomorrow I’ll discuss “Plastic Eaters.” Peace!
