A neighbor had a beautiful yard full of huge healthy native plants that I really liked and the small white butterflies did too but it turns out it wasn't intentional so she's ripping it all up to put sod down and apologized to me for "having to see it" before... not my property so not my business but still ugh, I'm sad...

Mom sent me a facebook link to a PBS news hour post about how the anti-lawn movement is growing. The vast majority of the comments on it were stuff like this:

Most people are on our side here, even the so-called "boomers." We just have to be spreading ecological knowledge and practical means of creating useful habitat in back yards! Educate! Protect! Resist!

OH by the way, an interesting fact about lawns is that lawn biodiversity and income level in the US are inversely correlated.

Wealthier people's lawns have less biodiversity, poorer people's lawns have more.
