isn’t consenting age play a bit different than drawing/writing proship nsfw though? in the age play scenario, I’m assuming the two (or more) involved adults are in their own home privately. creating dead dove content itself is exactly equivalent yes, if it’s shared privately between adults. but largely people post this content publicly on platforms like tumblr or ao3. the comparison is a bit disingenuous to me. (I’m pro fiction myself and create/consume dead dove so im definitely not an “anti,” but I disagree with a lot of proshipping arguments as well, and I don’t understand why people who are pro-darkfiction seem to center their entire online personalities around that stance.)
By choosing to interact with a fictional piece, you are giving you immediate consent. This consent can be withdrawn at any time by exiting the fic/scrolling away from the art/etc. This is ESPECIALLY true when the piece is properly tagged.
as a proshipper i rly hate how our motto is “fiction doesn’t effect reality” because it CAN and DOES effect reality!! And it opens us up to bad faith takes! If i had to change it i would probably change it to “fiction is not education” but idk lol
Fortunately, I see it more frequently as "fiction does not affect reality on a 1:1 scale" or "fiction only affects your reality as much as you allow it" nowadays, which is nice. Though I think "Fiction is not education" is not a bad way of phrasing things either.
