First argument: “Sakura does not understand who Sasuke is”
Firstly yes she does in chapter 66 Sakura can tell that due to the curse mark that Sasuke is in pain:
She then begs for him to withdraw from the second round exam:
Sasuke then explains as to why he can’t due to being an avenger:
In chapter 67 Sakura (after Sasuke explains why he cannot withdraw) just decides to keep an eye on Sasuke:
Second Argument: “Sasuke knows less about Sakura”:
In chapter 36 Sasuke was able to recognize that something was off about Sakura prior to them signing up for the chunin exams:
In the same chapter once they get to the first exam floor Sasuke points out Sakura’s analytical skills just to cheer her up:
Chapter 56 He’s able to tell when she’s lying as she lies to Naruto about her hair being cut:
Third Argument: “ Sakura’s obsessive love is one sided”
Wrong again in chapter 693 Kakashi even explains that Sakura just wanted to SAVE Sasuke:
Even Kakashi in chapter 675 says that Sakura loves Sasuke on a different level now and that she won’t cut him off because she wants to save him:
You wanna know whose “love” is consistently called obsessive? Karin(which this is NOT an anti Karin post whatsoever these are from her databook entries):
Fourth Argument: “ Sasuke does not love Sakura.” & “Are Sasuke’s feelings connected to Sakura’s?”
In chapter 133 Sasuke demands that Naruto save Sakura no matter what:
Sasuke tells Sarada that she is the result of the love between himself and Sakura:
Even on the very last page of Naruto Gaiden the caption says this:
Fifth Argument: “Sasuke is not in love with Sakura.” And “Sasuke Retsuden is still the bare minimum”:
In chapter 3 of Retsuden Sasuke gets jealous because Jiji tried to touch Sakura’s hair:
Also in Chapter 3 of Retsuden because Jiji tried to touch Sakura’s hair and when he (Jiji) explained that where he is from they exchange wedding rings and that what if some other man tried to flirt with Sakura since she doesn’t have a wedding ring (as Jiji didn’t know Sasuke was married since he and Sakura don’t have rings on).
in chapter four Sasuke has a flashback to the conversation between himself and Jiji:
Sasuke then gives Sakura a ring he made himself out of earth style in the same chapter:
In chapter 9 of Retsuden Sasuke panics because he cannot find Sakura under all the debris:
In the same chapter Sasuke tells Sakura not to dare apologize to him because Jiji attacked her:
The ring was infused with Sasuke’s chakra (as said by Ino in chapter 10)and it was what helped Sasuke find Sakura in chapter 9(also mentioned that if it weren’t for said ring he wouldn’t have found her)
in chapter 10 Sakura teases Sasuke about the reason as to why he gave her the ring(it makes Sasuke get all embarrassed thus he hides his face)
I want to write this post about how Sakura is not actually useless and debunk her haters. But then I realize that this is a lot more complicated to unpack.
I realize that I barely remember the war arc, but I do know she was useful for the entirety of that arc. And also healers are not given much credit. Half of the anti-fandom have the same recycled point they’ve probably heard from Naruto youtube anyway.
Most of it is from fans who only watched the anime, which makes weird decisions around adapting Sakura’s character. I’ve also seen posts with incorrect translations floating around, and just a slew of people getting all up in arms about Sakura.

A lot of people reading naruto in this era didn’t read it from official sources anyway. They just read it online on some website. It’s sooo complicated to get into this.
She also doesn’t hit Naruto as much in the manga. She doesn’t have the weird dialogue where she has to pick between Naruto and Sasuke. A lot of these fans really really never ever gave her a chance, it seems.
Kishimoto’s writing is weird and inconsistent at times. I’d love to pick at his brain to figure out how it all works out. Because there are stretches where he attempts to convey an emotion or a point of some sort, and it’s confusing at best, because he’s not faithful to the essence of the characters conveying it.
His best writing is early shippuden/Early Naruto, and not essentially when he just feels so sick of it.
Oh, and if people are still hating on her for what she said she was 12, they conveniently forget that Naruto also made fun of Sasuke’s dead clan. Everyone was sooo edgy during genin era. Go give it a read again. It’s a wild era.
No- and it's really weird how people hate on her "useless" character instead of directing their anger at Kishimoto/writers.
Honestly to me she was really annoying in the first few seasons and at times a pretty unlikable kid with anger problems...though still with a good heart.
As she matured and saw life through her orphan teammates' perspectives her character grew many kind traits. She cut the hair she grew out for Sasuke, tried to prove herself against her rival, trained under Tsunade, and grew to love both Naruto and Sasuke despite their flaws.
I think she had some great character development and it's a shame part way into the series Kishi just made her sit and watch all the male characters fight. For a main heroine she hardly had any cool scenes and I think that's one reason why people found her boring :(
Pro-Uchiha blogs: I can make deep and thoughtful synopses about shinobi system and Sasuke as a character, pointing out how he was unfairly wronged by the narrative and antagonized.
Pro-Uchiha blogs: But since now I have to analyze Sakura as a character, I lost all reading comprehension and refuse to see basic story-telling clues anymore, since that would require me to give a fair chance to a character I already made my mind about and I just don’t vibe with that.
sasunaru would spit on yall for hating on sakura she’s literally their best friend she’d literally be the one to set them up and listen to them rant about their mutual pining as she does the same with her huge ass crush on ino I really am sick and tired of going into the sakura tag and seeing fetishizer shippers who make her out to be some sort of manipulative abuser who destroys sasunaru when she would literally be best (wo)man at their wedding and the wine aunt to their adoptive children (cuz we dont do mpreg in this household)
people are still calling Sakura weak when her whole fighting style is literally based on just pure physical power, she causes explosions with her bare fists
don’t even get me started on her abilities as a medical-nin
