He stared across the room at Sigyn.

“I think it’s important to remember the Aesir are not to be trusted,” he said, stepping closer to his second wife. “They’re a bunch of pompous assholes who will turn on you as soon as you prove useless to them.”

Angrboda moved a half-step forward, a distance so small it shouldn’t have been noticeable if her eyes weren’t boring into Loki.

“Everyone, I think it’s time for bed,” she said.

Fenrir brushed crumbs off himself and frowned.

“Dad said we could stay up and watch something,” he said.

“Well, I’ve decided that’s a bad idea,” Angrboda said. She glanced over at Sigyn. “Suppose we have to figure out where you’ll sleep. We’re running out of beds.”

Sigyn leaned back against the counter and shrugged.

“Doesn’t matter to me,” she said, then nodded at Loki. “Already had to deal with sleeping with that one.”

Loki narrowed his eyes as Angrboda’s mouth firmed up into something pensive and hungry.

“Well,” she began, her gaze sliding over to Loki. “We could just — put you between us. Make sure you don’t run off while we’re asleep.”

“Of course,” Sigyn said, the tiniest smile playing on her lips.
