Artists give their heart and soul into their creations and all of them hope to be able to afford creating more models by selling their home made products.  The biggest threat to those artists’ profession are forgeries.  In the BJD hobby, those fraudsters are called “Recasters”.  They will fish out for buyers, and when they find enough, they will buy a doll from an artists, make cheap copies and resell those back at a lower price. This is art theft, and it is illegal in many countries.  Because of the limited amount of original dolls that can be produced due to creation process time, artists can not compete with recasters once their product has been stolen.  This lead many of our favorite artist to loose their business. Those who willingly buy from a recaster  are accessory into ruining an artist’s life by depriving them of their rightful income.

A BJD isn’t just a bundle of resin pieces held together by strings. It is also hundred of hours spent in trial and errors while sculpting and designing this exact model.  @probjdartists #probjdartistsday

Today is #proBjdArtists day! Dolls are luxury items: you do not _need_ them. If you want them, save for them. None of my dolls took less than 2 years of savings. Recasts hurt this hobby: they undermine artists's work because they are stolen goods. Without artists the is no more hobby! Nobody would create new dolls, or wigs, or outfits... is that truly something you want?

So, if you are a thief in favour of continuing destroying this hobby and support recasts: please unfollow me. I want nothing to do with you. I am, I was and always will be #proBjdArstists.

STORY TIME! Ever since I discovered Doll Chateau back in 2013, I've always been smitten by their aesthetic. There's something about their unnatural proportions that are both graceful and haunting. I always pined at owning one, but their price was just beyond my reach. Fast forward to 2018, when a former employee from DZ/DC decided to open their own company, and launched Dream Valley. It was then fortuitous to discover them in a time when I was trying to rekindle my passion for the hobby by overhauling my crew. I fell in love with their boy body with the 3rd monster arm, decided that it would be perfect for a hybrid, and refreshing my first boy Frei. That Dream Valley turned out to be more affordable than Doll Chateau, coupled with the ongoing event discount, finally sealed the deal for me. Experiences like this are what makes me believe in supporting the artists of this hobby. If the community had fully turned to recasts, the ex-employee from DZ/DC wouldn't have considered venturing on their own, believing it to be a lost cause, and we wouldn't have these new alternatives to such a particular aesthetic. As long as we keep supporting artists, we will continue to have new options to realize our dream dolls.
