Well, it's official. I was with my first client by myself today. I feel quite accomplished. Where's my MSW degree?!? Ha, just kidding.
I can't believe how far I have to go and I've just seen one client. Do you always remember your first client? Anyone?
Another therapist came by to see me today and I told her I think I did well but that I was a little nervous. And she said, "Well you don't get real confident until like 5 years. Isn't that what they say, a 5 year learning curve?"
I was immediately like "Ugh" inside. Five years is so long. But I guess until you feel really comfortable--I guess I can see that.
Anyway, the cool part was my first session was in Spanish and I think I handled it all pretty well. I flubbed a little, stumbled on a few words, but overall, I wasn't terrible. And he had trouble understanding one word I said, but that was it.
Overall, very happy. And he's set for a return appointment. Woo-hoo!
Now to work on my process recordings...
