watching proud on hbo as a cps social worker is kind of surreal

our bad reputation is kind of alarming to say the least

i’m actually currently in the process of moving two baby sisters to a closed foster home, even though their extended family is requesting to raise them. thing is that they’ve been living at their uncle and aunt’s and their 5 children for 9 now and it’s been a total shitshow and now a different family member is trying to gain custody… we’ve decided that enough is enough and that they’re driving the baby girls mad and that they need some peace and quiet. it’s the right thing to do, but it doesn’t make it any less gut wrenching and it’s been keeping me up at night for 4 weeks now. it’s kind of mad how people tend to think this is easy for us.

on the other hand i’m ending a foster placement bc they won’t allow the father to have a relationship with his son. yeah the father is a bit weird but not harmful and would die for his children

yet on tv we’re shown as these grey, bitter and soulless women.

…and with no fashion style which is the BLUNTEST lie!!!!!!!! i’d rather die than wear a knee high skirt suit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2 years ago I would have been terrified at the idea of not only working 8 hours 7 days a week, but even pulling 9 hour days because I’m determined to do this job right and CAN do it.

These past couple days have been crazy as not only am I now the director of my department and working a whole new position, but also working my old position and doing the work of two people.

It turns out I am much more capable than I thought myself to be.
