Today’s fanart frenzy piece is inspired by In Too Deep by hurricane @skyfallscotland. Have you read it? I’m pretty sure it was the first modern AU I read and I absolutely loved it. Olympic swimmer Xaden is just… sigh.

This is my take on a scene that lives rent free in my brain where Violet strips down and joins Xaden in the pool at his Paris apartment to talk to him about anxiety. It’s just such a lovely moment.

I’m loving this @fanartfrenzy challenge to help me learn how to translate my painting skills to an iPad and figure out procreate! Still learning… it’s not perfect, but hey, at least it’s not AI.

At this rate, I’m hoping to get a few more on this bingo card by the end of the month—because unlike writing, I can do this while on trial prep calls.

I’m trying to learn Procreate, and I gave myself a limited palette because I’m mean to myself I guess. Drawing Samuel Roukin as Simon kinda? Included the video if you have tips for using this program, you can watch me struggle! 😬

I didn’t have a reference for the hair I just struggled it in. Trying to get used to what the brushes and their categories do. Like I noticed in an ink brush I couldn’t put light over dark but switched to pencil and it worked better.

Offline I’m an oil painter with a masters degree lol traditional paint is so much easier for me… I did have fun with this though. I moved 2k miles from home (Texas to Nova Scotia) this year and my space is not set up for painting right now and it’s cramped, so working on the iPad scratched an itch.

Anyway that’s enough on this, I’m going to go find a better reference and try some more later.
