How to demand respect ✨
#1 respect all else
Be kind to all, but don’t be fake kind. People can sense it, at least most. In business, you sometimes need to act extra nice, but don’t make it over the top. The best way to respect others is to stop gossiping about them. If you have something to say about others, make sure it’s something positive. It something bothers you about someone, say it either to their face or no one else. I’m aware this is difficult especially for cultures where gossiping is widespread. It’s okay to gossip once in a while because we are human, but try to gossip today 1% less than you did yesterday. Day by day, you will realize when you talk less bad of others, how insignificant it is. If you must gossip, do it with your closest friend/s, but never with colleagues or acquaintances. If they gossip, just change the subject. If you want to say something negative about someone, think if you could say it to their face first.
#2 Forget about being liked
The best way to stop caring so much about being liked it to stop asking people for opinions on yourself. Don’t ever ask acquaintances, friends, or your partner about your choice of clothes, how you look, or generally, what you should do etc. People are not your therapists! If you like something, wear it. If you don’t, don’t wear it. If you want to change your career, you can ask someone who went the same path, but never those that haven’t walked it.
#3 Show people that you are not easy
Invite only those that invite you. Of course, if this is the first time you’re meeting someone, this obviously doesn’t count. But for example, if someone doesn’t invite you to their friend group, don’t invite them to yours. Show them you are not interested in being used.
💋Pro tip to stop caring about being liked: turn off your Instagram and put your phone down. Do something more productive instead like working on your business idea, hobby, or go for a walk.
