today was ACTUALLY awful. i was not expecting this cold snap and then i couldnt even leave my apartment to go somewhere warmer because i had a maintenance person coming to check my stove and i am literally wearing 4 shirts, leggings under my pants, three pairs of socks and i wore my hat and scarf and boots all day and i was still cold. the only reason i didnt wear my mittens is that u APPARENTLY cant type with mittens on
honestly im used to being cold in the winter (im canadian. im from montreal.) but this was insane. it was coldish (like maybe -10C i guess?) but fine yesterday morning when i walked to school and then by the time i headed home it was freezing (it was quite a shock because i was appropriately dressed for mid-december and it was not enough... i almost thought i got frostbite on my 7-block walk to my apartment). and it went down to something like -29C last night not counting windchill and then today it was around -20C and normally this happens in jan/feb!! not december!! wild

im writing an essay looking at the treatment and construction of the femme fatale in dashiell hammett’s the maltese falcon and how she is used to support/promote a specific concept of ideal masculinity and i am a medievalist and i hate this and i dont know anything about 20th c lit and everything about the femme fatale is in ref to film studies which i also know nothing about but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I wish I could like this a thousand times. You speak to my soul. Also, have you tried sleeping with an electric blanket? I have one with an automatic shut off timer so I won't catch on fire in the night. It helps me get to sleep when I'm freezing.
