8 Days to Go: Planning
I had several trip planning meetings today.
The first was bright and early this morning, because we were calling people in India. We settled on the logistics of our arrival. I took copious notes. And we learned that one of the high-ups in the company - a partner, to be exact - will be on the flight from Paris to Mumbai with us. All is well and good with the world.
The second was very soon after the first and entailed an in-depth discussion amongst the three of us on how exactly we are going to document these programs. Our department uses “toolkits” to document software, processes, and functionality, and we decided to combine the two different kinds of toolkits that we use into one giant one for each part of each software. Phew. One less thing to worry about.
The last was less of a meeting and more of a discussion through email with a coworker about the C# certification course that I was planning on enrolling in. I have been working with Java and with learning object-oriented programming, and it was supposed to be a building block toward the C# certification through the O’Reilly School of Technology. But O’Reilly has phased out it’s certification programs. I’m too late. And C# is really what I need in order to understand and use the software I’ve been slated to document.
So here’s a question for anyone who’s reading this: Is there a good C# certification program out there?
I’ve found two that seem all right. One is on edX and is affiliated with Microsoft (which makes sense). It’s free (plus $90 if you want an official certificate at the end), and it’s supposed to take 6 weeks. The other is an official certification program through the University of Washington. It’s definitely more than $90, but it’s also likely to be more in-depth and include actual assignments.
I could use some feedback. Does anyone have any thoughts?
