Austin Marathon Training, Week 5
Austin Marathon Training, Week 5
I had a good week! I’m hoping my momentum continues into this week, too. I feel pretty proud of myself for the training I did this week – let’s get started!
Monday—30 minutes of total body
I created my own total body routine based on several different influences, including different core challenges found on Pinterest, my favorite Tone It Up workout, and a kettlebell class I took a couple of…

Austin Marathon Training, Week 4
Austin Marathon Training, Week 4
Week 4 was a rough week, as far as training went. I was unmotivated and tired, and I slacked off a bit at the beginning of the week. By the end, I found new motivation, and week 5 has started off on a much higher note. I’m hoping that the momentum continues through the holidays—they’re coming up faster than I realized!
Monday—foam rolling
I was tired and sore and unmotivated on Monday. I…

Recipe: Confetti Scrambled Eggs
Recipe: Confetti Scrambled Eggs
Here’s my first recipe post! This is one of my specialties—it didn’t have a name until I just gave it one. I love scrambled eggs, and I almost always crave eggs after I run. So I make a lot of eggs, and it helps to be able to spice them up.
Here’s a version that was perfectly suited for after a 3.5 mile run I did the other day.
1 handful chopped white onion
1 handful chopped green pepper

Sneak Peek: Etsy Shop Reboot
Sneak Peek: Etsy Shop Reboot
Hello world!
I only have a few days left here in India, and I’ve been spending them hard at work. I’m talking my nose is seriously dragging on the grindstone. But, in my few spare minutes (and a little over my weekend away, which I’ll write about in the next day or two over at Work Amanda in India), I’ve been planning my Etsy shop reboot.
I’m a side hustler. It’s never something I’ve sought…

Day 27: A Week from Now...
Today was a busy day. I worked with documentation all day long, and I’m sick of staring at my computer screen. So, like the posts from earlier this week, this is going to be a short one.
All I keep thinking about today is where I’ll be a week from now. Currently, it is 8:08 pm here in India. Which means that I’ll be 17.5 hours into my 25.5 hour travel day next week. I’ll be somewhere over the Atlantic, probably fidgeting like crazy because I’m not home yet.
The work that I’ve been doing here is important, both to my development as an employee within this company and for the company at large. I’m helping prepare documents for developer training that begins in 11 short days (EEK). I understand the importance, and I am both grateful and thankful for this opportunity.
But I’m ready to go home.
On this trip, I discovered something about myself. I’m going to call it the Two Weeks Rule. I’m good on my own for two weeks. But after two weeks, I start to crumble. I start to question myself. I start to get sad.
It’s been more than four weeks since I’ve seen my husband. I’m ready to put an end to the distance. I’m ready to be home.
I have a lot of work today between now and a week from now. I’m sure it’s going to fly by, because there is so much that needs to get done. But right now, it still seems like a cavernous stretch of time. It probably will feel that way until I land in Texas, until I’m walking through our tiny local airport, until I’m waiting at the baggage claim for my bag. Until we’re together again.
One week.
Seven days.
176 hours.
10,560 minutes.
And then I’m home.
I made a thing today.

Day 26: Fight Song
I have one calendar week until my last full day in India. And I’ve been an emotional mess, up and down and all over the place. But I have one week and a lot of things that I need to get done.
I am taking back my life. I am not going to be ruled by my emotions for the rest of the time I’m here. I don’t have the time, and my husband, frankly, doesn’t have the patience. I just have to keep bustin’ it, keep my nose to the grindstone. The week is going to fly by. I just have to fight through.
Because I’ve still got a lot of fight left in me.

Day 25: SQL Success!
Did you see the Kip gif I posted a couple of days ago? Kip is my spirit animal. He gets me. And my love of nachos. And chatting online with babes all day. Hahaha.
But seriously, it was like a breakthrough yesterday. SQL had been causing my skies to be gray, covered with dark clouds. But then yesterday, SUNSHINE! And I finished up a big aspect of the first part of the project, so I was feeling pretty good about myself. There is still much to do, but you have to revel in the small accomplishments when they come.
Day 24: Bust It
Okay, so I haven’t been dancing over here in India. But a phrase that Jordan uses to describe good productivity is “bustin’ it.” And man, I busted it on Monday. I got so much done. I was even impressed with myself.
It’s amazing what happens when things start to click into place, isn’t it.
So, on the work front, things are going pretty well. We’re working up to a deadline, so that’s starting to get stressful.
I guess I’ll just have to keep bustin’ it.
