One more progress painting.
This time of my Bhaalspawn which actually started off as yet another attempt at a progress clothing. Then I just gave up and satisfied myself with a portrait instead.
I really should finish it at some point. I don’t think I’ll ever stop trying until I figure out and complete the whole set.
more tarot coming soon
Progress shots of commission I'm working on! I love painting images depicting love and vulnerability. These two love each other and talking to them made me stoked and honored to contribute to it! The right picture is closer to the actual colors. This one's experimental and I'm loving the colors/how it's turning out. Hands are what's scaring me but all the more insentive to dive into them;!
Back in 2011, when I still had a Deviantart account, I did a few Urzai pieces because I was SUPER into that ship, and interested in how they had come to be married considering what we saw of their personalities.
So, I did a piece of Ursa taking stock of herself on her wedding day. At the time I thought that she must have felt trepidation at the marriage. As a result she ended up looking worried, as as though she didn’t recognize the woman in the mirror.
Fast forward to now, and I took a decidedly different approach to the piece based on new headcanons. In my mind, Ursa feels less trepidation now and more excitement, and though she still needs to lean in to see the woman that she does not recognize in the mirror, it’s a far more positive moment. I also changed the palette to reflect this. Pastels and dappled sunlight to lift the mood.
Also I just...wanted to paint in pastels, ngl. xD
Anyway, all in all, I can definitely see the difference that a few years and more experience have made with the piece overall. I think I’m gonna go through a do a bunch of these redos in future :)

process pictures pls ignore my slightly messy room, i am mental ill depress can you not see the artwork
but actually, this was a really fun painting to work on today. I wanted to just start with red and then add white to make lighhter shades until I got a good outline for what i wanted the figure(s) to look like. I was pushing myself also to do more body work to get out of my comfort zone. I added details with blue highlights as things dried, then moved to a darker magenta, then the background colors and textures, then finally adding black and white sharper highlights to the structure and eyes! rambling but this is my tumblr blog fuck you
I need this on my wall, so heres a progress photo. Ill post the finished one soon. @therealjacksepticeye @lum1natrix @markired
