The Christian life is a life full of ironies that don’t make sense to those living in the flesh. But to us, they are divine truths about who we are and the character of our living God.

As Christians, we become stronger through our weaknesses.

We are lifted up by our humility.

We forgive those who aren’t sorry.

When we are taken advantage of, we give more than what we are swindled out of.

We end conflicts with love instead of violence.

We have hope where there appears to be none, because the hope we have isn’t from here.

We live according to the rules of a place ever never inhabited.

We show love when given hate, and kindness instead of cruelty.

We grow stronger through our persecutions, and more dependent on the One who set us free.

We are slaves to freedom, and stewards of the One who says that we will be provided for.

To the world, none of this makes sense. But to us, they are a cause for joy, a reminder of our Savior’s unending love for us.

As Christians, we are called to be more than human, we are called to be divine.

Becoming a Christian is more than just a change of lifestyle, it’s a change of spirit as well. Once we have our lives to Christ, we become one with Him, and He with us. The Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead now lives within us.

But now that we are soldiers in His army, we are now enemies of the one who desires to snatch our souls. Paul writes that, “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places” (Ephesians 6:12).

This means that the enemies that we are tasked with fighting are of the spirit: they are on a completely different realm than we are. And being merely beings of the flesh, we need help from God’s Holy Spirit in order to fight these demonic foes.

This is why the Bible states that we must see through the eyes of faith, we must focus on the things unseen (2 Corinthians 4:17-18). We cannot physically see the Spirit, which is why we must rely on the word of God to guide us on our spiritual journey.

It’s through His word that God reveals to us what habits and practices invite demons into our homes, churches, and hearts. It’s through His word that we are told how to grow closer to God, our source of divine power.

It’s through growing closer to God through His word that we learn to surrender to the work of the Spirit in our hearts and minds. Is through the work of the Spirit that we become more holy and more of a threat to the enemy.

By drawing closer to God, more of His divine presence is revealed within us; more of what’s of the Spirit gets revealed in the physical through our very lives. This is why Jesus gave us command over demonic forces, and charged us to rebuke them and cast them out. This is how Christians are able to perform miracles, such as healing those who are sick.

Seeing God’s divine work in our lives is meant to be a part of every Christian life. The Christian life is meant to be the conduit through which the Holy Spirit pours out His power into the physical world. It’s through us that His divine light shines into the darkness of this world, drawing others to Him.

By drawing closer to God, we become more divine, just as He is; a process that won’t reach its competition until the next life. But it receives its glorious start here and now, and through our yielding to the Spirit’s work within us, more will be drawn to Lord, and begin to experience His divine power in their lives.

The prospect of eternity really puts things into perspective, doesn’t it?

I’m not talking about nihilism, or anything like that, I’m talking about this from the Christian perspective.

When our eternity, our entire existence aside from this little rock, is on the line, it really helps put things into perspective. It’s makes us take a step back and ask, “What’s really important to me?”

What, or who is holding your heart at this moment? Would your answer please Jesus if He were right next to you? Because He is. In fact, He’s closer than any of us even know. And our choice lies between eternal paradise with Him, and eternal torment without Him.

This prospect really brightens our perspective, and makes us realize that a lot of things we fret over aren’t worth half the attention we give them.

Is it really worth getting even with that guy?

Do you really need those new clothes when you’ve got plenty already?

Is it’s really worth fretting over how things didn’t go your way today?

When compared to eternity, does any of this matter? And with the knowledge that what you do today could affect where you end up for forever (really pause and think about that), is any of this really worth devoting our attention to?

This next year, I’ve got a challenge for you. Decide what really matters to you; Jesus (obviously), family, friends, kindness, unity, humility, etc.

Then ask yourself how you can live your life in a way that reflect these values. How can you and I live in a way that reflects what matters the most to us, starting today?

I don’t claim to be an expert, but if you want my advice, it starts at the feet of Jesus.

Jesus knocks at the door, judgement does not.

Right now, you’ve got an amazing opportunity. Right now, you’ve got a chance to repent. Right now, Jesus is knocking at the door of your heart.

The amazing thing about God is that he always desires to have a relationship with you, but he will never force you to have a relationship with him.

He waits patiently for you to open the door, and let him in.

But the god of this world of deafened us to the knockings of Jesus, and has replaced it with anything he can to distract us; doom scrolling, needless spending, sexual immorality, drug addiction, over eating, etc.

If it distracts us, it’s in his arsenal.

He doesn’t need us on his side, he just needs us to ignore the one person who can save us.

As long as we don’t hear the knocking, he’s got us.

So let this post be a wake up call to you: Jesus is at your door.

You’ve been distracted by this world too long. You’ve been ignoring the knocking too long. You’ve been thinking that you can have it both ways too long.

Our choices are clear: Jesus, or the world. And we can never have both, as they are complete opposite of each other.

To choose both the world and Jesus, is like trying to stick the opposite ends of magnets together; you can try, but they’ll never stick.

God knocks at the doors of hearts, not just to visit, but to move in.

He intends of completely renovating the entire home of our hearts; doing away with the cob webs of lies and deceptions, lighting up the dark corners of shame, and knocking down the walls of pride and arrogance.

And he will refuse to dwell with someone who won’t let him work. If we don’t give our consent, then it’s not real love.

God cannot, and will not, dwell where sin resides.

God, in his very nature, purifies what is sinful. His glorious fire isn’t to condemn, but to save. He intends on saving us from the devastating consequences that sin can bring. And if we choose to dwell with what will doom us for eternity, then we turn our backs on the one being who can save us.

Do you go to the doctor hoping to leave in the same condition that you left in?

We are all content to live with broken legs when God intends for us to be marathon runners.

God will not renovate when the owner is fine living mold in the walls. God will not dwell with someone who refuses to be an acceptable temple for his Holy Spirit.

One can never have both sin and God. We have to choose one.

Sin or God? Death or life? Lust or love?

Don’t leave this post without deciding which one you’re going to choose. God has given you a choice, right here in this point in time, to choose either him, or the world.

Today is the day of salvation.

Today is the day of opening the door.

Today is the day that the renovation on your heart can begin.

But you must choose, and you must choose quickly. Who knows when you’re going to get another chance?

The Sacred Charts of Clarence Larkin

“Rev. Clarence Larkin (1850–1924) was an American Baptist pastor, Bible teacher and author whose writings on Dispensationalism had a great impact on conservative Protestant visual culture in the 20th century. His intricate and influential charts provided readers with a visual strategy for mapping God's action in history and for interpreting complex biblical prophecies.

Larkin was born on October 28, 1850, in Chester, Delaware County, Pennsylvania. He experienced conversion at the age of 19. He then got a job in a bank. When he was 21 years old, he left the bank and went to college, graduating as a mechanical engineer. He continued as a professional draftsman for a while, then he became a teacher of the blind. This last endeavor cultivated his descriptive faculties, while his drafter's training influenced his artistic style. Later, failing health compelled him to give up his teaching career. After a prolonged rest, he became a manufacturer.

When he was converted he had become a member of the Episcopal Church, but in 1882, at the age of 32, he became a Baptist and was ordained as a Baptist minister two years later. He went directly from business into the ministry. Larkin's first pastorate was at Kennett Square, Pennsylvania; his second was at Fox Chase, Pennsylvania, where he remained for 20 years. His study of the Scriptures, with the help of some books that fell into his hands, led him to adopt many of the tenets of the premillennialist theology that was gaining favor in conservative Protestant circles in the Gilded Age. He began to make large wall charts, which he titled "Prophetic Truth," for use in the pulpit. These led to invitations to teach elsewhere. During this time he published a number of prophetical charts, which were widely circulated and contributed articles for the Sunday School Times.

In 1918, he completed Dispensational Truth, but high demand for the work led him to produce a greatly expanded edition of 1920.”
