The Prospect Place by Kayla Brooke

Years ago I took photos of this beautiful historical place from a distance but this past sunday I was able to get up close and explore the inside. Some locals from that area bought the place and they are restoring it back to how it used to be. they also are doing paranormal investigations and you get to stay over night. I kind what of want to do that. They were having a model photographers group shoot and i havent been getting out as much as i used to so i decided to go.

Creepy pics of the Ballroom at Prospect Place Mansion, Trinway, Ohio. They shut off all the lights at 9 PM and we were in the pitch dark all night. I don't have an IR camera, I had my flashlight and that's it. Couldn't see a thing outside of my flashlight beam. It was fun!

I wrote up a post for part 4 of Prospect Place but then Tumblr ate it when I posted and I didn't have time to re-write it because I had to get all my stuff prepped to go. The investigation was GREAT! The mansion was awesome and so much fun to investigate in the dead of night. Around midnight the thickest fog I've ever seen rolled in and stayed there until after we left the next morning at 7:30. It was so thick you could see it swirling around you. It made for some really spooky ambience, I loved it! We had to walk out to the barn in it, and you could barely even make out the house from the barn and vice-versa (only maybe 20 yards apart). It was so great, I loved it, I was playing outside in the fog alone with my flashlight for about 20 minutes at 3:30 AM. 😆

I still need to catch up on sleep before I start reviewing my 10 hours of audio and 100 or so photos, but I will tell you I did see a solid, black shadow figure upstairs by the ballroom when I was coming up to retrieve my recorder! It was right in front of me, I shined my flashlight right on it - I actually thought I walked in on another investigator for a second. That was pretty amazing!

After I get my sleep and review all my recordings I'll rewrite "Prospect Place Part Four: The Underground Railroad" and post about our investigation.

My shadow-figure experience at Prospect Place Mansion (Trinway, Ohio):

This was a "public" hunt (limited to 25 total), so there were fifteen attendees the night of our investigation. The mansion is big enough to split up into groups and you have 12 full hours, so there's plenty of time for groups to switch places and cover every area thoroughly.

Before the investigations began we were given a tour of the entire house. When we got to the ballroom on the third floor I stopped in the doorway to take a few photos. I felt someone come up behind me so I did an "Ope!" and stepped aside to apologize and let them pass, but when I turned around there was no one there. I was the last person. I personally didn't think much of it but I did mention it to the group since there were some hardcore believers there. I was eager to investigate the carriage house and the basement, so when the tour was done I headed back to those and basically forgot all about it.

Hours later my friend Nila and I did an EVP session in the ballroom, then I left two of my phones in there with one playing some 1800's popular ballroom dance music while the other kept recording. If ghosts do exist, I was hoping some familiar music might stir something up.

We left to investigate some other rooms on the 2nd floor for half an hour or so, then we headed back up to retrieve my phones. As I made the last turn up the stairs to the landing outside the ballroom, I shined my flashlight up at it and there was a solid, black shadow figure standing there. For a second I thought I had walked up on another investigator and I turned to tell Nila to stop, but then I realized - everyone else was actually two floors below us. It couldn't have been more than two seconds but when I turned back it was gone.

I said, "Wait - I saw a figure!"

Nila asked where and I pointed. She immediately took off up past the landing and up the stairs to the cupola, which is above the ballroom, in case there was anyone up there (there wasn't) then back down to the ballroom to check (no one in there, either, and I was on the stairs, which were only exit for both). Only after Nila had run upstairs did I realize the figure had been standing in the EXACT same spot where I had felt someone standing behind me during the tour.

I stayed back trying to recreate the shadow. I retraced my steps coming up around the turn at least twenty times, shining my flashlight the same way I had originally and at every different angle, but couldn't recreate it. The only thing I could get to cast a shadow was the temporary 2x4 railing, but that was a thin, defined rectangular shape no matter what I did and looked nothing like the figure I'd seen.

Two other investigators came up the stairs to see what was going on because they heard me say I'd seen a figure. I had one of them stand in the spot where I'd seen it so I could take a photo for reference, and it was a perfect match. (I used the same lighting for the photo - just my flashlight, no camera flash.)

That is the shape I saw, but imagine her as a completely black figure.

Tbh, I didn't even believe in shadow figures - I didn't really believe in anything about ghosts. I was just thrilled to be spending the night in a creepy old mansion and having the time of my life running around exploring it in the pitch dark. I wasn't expecting to experience ANYTHING during our stay other than a fun time.

I haven't finished reviewing all of our videos and recordings but even if we did capture any other kind of evidence, nothing will beat seeing that!

O1. 2AM Basement w Dalton

⬆️ This is Dalton, 9 years old, helping me and Nila with our paranormal investigation in the basement of Prospect Place Mansion. He was there all night working security with his dad and we invited him to join us when everyone else went to sleep and he was still up. Pretty awesome, brave kid! He helped us in the basement at 2 AM, and then out in the barn - which he's admittedly scared of! - at 3 AM (his dad okayed it👍).
