Remember! Always paint (with makeup) prosthetics you want to use! Either to match your skin tone or to have a different effect.

I use my foundation to get the coverage, and then I buff it out with my powder. Next I take a liner brush with a dark brown shadow and go over areas that would have defined shadows. Lastly I usually give it i couple brushes of blush, but this is mainly cause I have red undertones to my skin. And maybe a little highlighter here and there! Voila!

Finally, I’ve got my  prosthetic elf ears! So yeah, yet another make-up test...

I keep second guessing on which ears I should use for my deer/doe cosplay. While my felt ears are super cute, I sometimes think prosthetic ears would look better. Should I use the felt ears that I made or buy prosthetic ears?

Blog update! Swords and dwarven ears, oh, my!

Ears that will be used for Twilight Princess Zelda arrived today! They're beautiful and I am in love with them! These are the "Large Anime Elf Ears" and were bought from Aradani Costumes. I'm very impressed with the quality, as they didn't set me back too far in terms of price (especially compared to everything else used for Zelda.) I would definitely reccomend checking the site out if you're in need of prosthetic ears of any kind - they have a wide variety. There's also a large stock of other cosplay items which you may be interested in browsing! They do have "Legend" Elf Ears which seem to be designed with Link himself in mind. However for Zelda I chose a slimmer design, to match her elegance. Aradani has "pro kits" available as well (which I didn't end up getting, just to help split cosplay costs between paycheques), which included the ears themselves, cuffs, spirit gum and spirit gum remover, as well as a few other things for about $25 more, which is a good deal. I don't have any spirit gum on hand right now, so in the images you see, there is no adhesive to keep them on my real ears. Once I'm able to grab some spirit gum I'll be doing a few makeup tests to practice blending the ears to my flesh and matching skintones, and work on some contouring. Progress pictures will make appearances along the way! Very excited to experiment with these a little more!
