hey, yall; the US government is trying to implement bills where you have to submit your ID to access many platforms on the internet. If you want to oppose it, please contact your representatives either using 5 calls or bad internet bills because it will be just as bad if not worse than discord's age verification system
News of a conference against section 230 taking place on Febuaray the 4th has been found
There was a punchbowl news article about Lindsey Graham and Dick Durbin wanting to have a conference about sun setting section 230 on the day of the anniversary of Febuaray 4th
This conference seems to be about pushing the idea that section 230 is something horrible and that by reforming it, they will protect children, which is just a lie by all acounts
They have also said they want to bring it up on the floor, but an exact date for that is unknown.

"Durbin and former Rep. Dick Gephardt (D-Mo.) are scheduled to meet with join a news conference with advocates calling for unspecified “reform” to Section 230 this week."
They will be pushing against section 230 this month and we are already seeing that
So we need to push back against this hard!!!
We need to start calling, faxing, sending letters to our representatives as soon possible and we need to start telling them that we want section 230 to be safe and that it keeps the internet safe
It needs to be a massive push, we need to start talking about it as soon as possible, we need to spread the word
Talk about it with your friends and family members, your other internet friends, share posts, make your own posts, make flyers and start giving them out to people. Whatever you can do in order to push back against this!!!
Do this as much as you can, we need to put the heat up and not let up until section 230 (and the internet as a whole) is safe!

Send a fax to anywhere in the U.S. or Canada for free.
There is other bad internet bills that will be important to look at as well
So, the people in government are once again attacking the internet.

Sensible people: I think that it's better to invest in online safety courses to teach our children to look after themselves on the Internet, rather than enforcing age verification.

The idea that the concept of social media is inherently addictive is so annoying.
"social media" is just words pictures and videos taken by other people put on a platform that can be interacted with. What could be considered addictive are algorithms that are designed to be additive (also algorithms are just programs that give people personalized content, so again, not inherently additive).
and if these platforms are so additive and harmful, the solution isn't banning kids, it's regulating them so that they're less addictive.
