summery: You were on a solo mission when you came into contact with an unknown pollen

 it was known to the entire team that you were a hard person to read, given your past no one blamed you, but it was also known that you had a soft spot for Thor not just you but the animals inside of you, Thor was the only person that could stop you from your animalistic rage spirals, 

Especially when it came to HYDRA, they tortured you since you were five, Bucky knew you. You were so scared begged for your life since they executed your family in front of you, You had a blood lust for HYDRA 

But when the team learned that Fury sent you on a solo mission to a abandoned HYDRA facility everyone jumped down his throat, 

“She was the only one who wasn’t on a mission.” Was his only response 

but when you got back, you handed fury the files you found and stormed to your room not because you were pissed no you came to an unknown substance when you opened the door to one of the labs there was a beautiful flower, with dark purple and red leaves just as you approached the flower a dust was flowing out of the flower causing you to cough, and since your DNA was spliced with animals you were in a panic, 

as you flew back to the tower you were overly hot, sweat falling from your forehead, you could feel your heart racing, 

as soon as you got back you practically sprinted to your room, you turned on the cold shower but you felt like you were burning from the inside out you striped your wet clothes 

“Friday don’t let anyone in this room!” You growled 

“Of course miss.” The AI says 

You lay in the middle of the bed, rubbing your legs together, you didn’t understand what the hell was happening, 

Thor just got back from his planet, when he entered the tower, 

“I’m back from-” Thor began but when he seen the look on everyone’s face he knew something was wrong, 

“What’s wrong?” He asked 

“Well Y/N hasn’t come out of her room since her mission yesterday.” Tony says 

“And won’t let anyone in her room.” Steve says 

Thor was speechless and made his way to her room, 

Thor knocked loudly on her door, 

“Y/N! It is Thor!” He said loudly 

“Go away.” She gritted 

Thor was confused because you and him were close, he was the only one who could calm you down and strong enough to be able to hold you down if it came to it, 

“Y/N let me in or I will knock the door down myself!” He yelled 

“You don’t understand something is wrong!” You yelled 

This made Thor panic 

“Open the door now!”Thor yelled 

Suddenly the door opened and Thor entered you were laying on your bed naked, this wasn’t the first time Thor had seen you this way when you shift you tear your clothes and he normally covers you with a blanket or anything that he can find, 

He sees the sheen of sweat covering your body, Thor sets his hammer down after he closes the door, 

He kneels in front of you, 

“What’s happened?” He asked worried, his hand cups your cheek as soon as his hand makes contact with your skin it was like electricity ran through your insides, you bit your lip stopping yourself from moaning, 

Thor could see you were battling with something, 

“I’ll get Bruce!” He says standing up 

You quickly grab his wrist shaking your head no, 

“No.” You grit out, 

“But your running a fever?” He says 

“It’s from HYDRA..” You grit out 

He arched his brow, 

You explained the plant and what happened, and how this happened as soon as the plant spilled the pollen on you, 

Thor stands up quickly, 

“That plant… is from my planet…” He said hesitantly 

“How-- how do you make it stop…” You grit

Thor slowly takes off his shirt….

You back up on the bed,, 

“T-Thor what are you—” You began

“The only way to make it stop.” He began taking off his boots, his gear his pants and boxers revealing his large member 

“Is to mate.” He says crawling on the bed to you, 

“Thor I can’t-” You began 

“Do not worry love I will make it better.” He says as soon as his lips met yours all reasoning left your mind, 

his hands skimming up your sides, you groan in his mouth as his hands keep skimming over your skin leaving goosebumps in their wake, 

His lips make their way down your neck, leaving you to groan as he leaves a mark on your neck, 

“Thor.” You groan

“Mmm, I love the way you say my name that way…” He groans as his lips attach to your breast making you arch your back, 

You let out a moan you could feel your body heat sky rocketing, 

“If I do not do this you would surly die from high fever..” He says as if he was reading your mind or he could feel your body getting hotter

His lips leaving marks on your body as they make their way down His lips on your inner thigh, you instinctivly try to close your legs he easily opens them with his hands, 

“Don’t be shy love I will make you feel good.” He groans 

His lips made contact with your wet channel as soon as his tongue makes its way in your channel you let out a loud moan as your head flew back and you arch your back, your hand finding his hair, you felt as if you were on fire, as If you were going to burn alive from the inside out, 

“Thor..” You moaned 

He hummed making vibrations run though you, 

you felt a pressure forming you were trying to hold out you didn’t want this pleasure to end but it was too much, and you let out a loud moan as you came, 

Thor looked up at you from between your legs, his blue eyes full of lust his pupils fully blown, 

he crawled up to you slowly almost predatory and you knew predatory you were a animal shifter, 

His lips connecting with yours you could taste yourself on his lips, the kiss was passionate your hands wrap around his biceps, 

“Don’t worry love I will make it go away.” He says 

He slowly enters you and you let out a loud moan, he was so large, so thick, it felt like he was never ending, as he kept going until he finally bottomed out, you let out a breath, he was bigger than you ever had, and god it felt amazing, 

Thor groaned from above you, 

“You feel amazing..” He groaned 

He slowly pulled almost out only to enter again with a rough thrust your moans and his grunts echoing in the room, the sounds of skin slapping, heavy breathing. 

Your hands find his back digging in his back making him hiss, the knot forming in your stomach again, 

Thor roughly grabs your hands pinning them next to your head, 

“You are mine now love.” He grunted 

“You are the only one who can handle me.” He grunts 

“Thor!” You moaned, 

“Say you are mine.” He grunts 

“Yes, God yes I’m yours!” You moan

His thrusts going deeper and harder and finally the knot in you snaps causing you to almost scream, 

Thor thrusts a few more times moaning as he is buried deep inside of you as he came hard,

“Why won’t it stop.” You groaned

You’re Perfect - Thor/Black!Reader

Summary: At a family gathering, an insecure moment transpires. 

You were walking through the threshold of your childhood home, your husband right behind you. There were various family members milling about, music playing from a speaker from inside. 

You went in search of your mother who was standing in the hall, and she’s smiling at you as you walk forward. “Mama!” You exclaim, extending your arms out for a hug. She’s engulfing you, the smell of her perfume wafting through your nose. “I’m so happy you could make it! Where’s Thor?” You’re looking behind you, your eyes sweeping across various bodies. 

“We brought some Mac n’ Cheese. He’s probably putting it in the kitchen,” “He’s probably talking to your father. Oh baby, it’s good to see you. I love that color on you, but aren’t you a bit uncomfortable?” You were looking down at yourself, brows scrunching. 

You were wearing a cream, off the shoulder long-sleeved shirt, with a ruffled brown skirt with black boots. “Uh, no. What’s wrong with it? Didn’t think I needed to abide by a dress code to come home,” Your mother is frowning slightly before smiling gently. “That’s not what I meant. Just looks a little short is all. Might sill have some clothes upstairs, don’t know if you’d still fit them, oh hold on, there’s your cousin Maya-,” She’s brushing past you, and your lips pull into a frown as you once again look down at yourself.

You thought you looked fine. You definitely felt fine before you left this morning. You’re glancing over at your cousin, your frown growing as you took in her smaller frame. Her stomach fit her clothes just fine, arms fitted beneath the fabric of her short-sleeves. Her thighs didn’t rub together as she walked. 

“Are you alright?” Thor’s question brings your attention to him as he steps in your line of sight. You’re plastering a smile on your face, nodding. “Mhm,” He watches you for a moment before taking your hand. 

Throughout the afternoon, you mingled with family, stepping out into the back yard, eating small things here and there. Dinner hadn’t officially started, but it was nearing that time where everyone was starting to load up plates and find a seat outside. 

“Girl, I just think it’s so cute but I don’t think it’ll fit me. Aunt Nette told me you were going upstairs to change, maybe you’d like this,” Maya is handing you a boxed outfit which you did have to admit was cute. “I’ll be right back,”

What should have taken you ten minutes max had turned to ten, and then to fifteen. By then, Thor was looking for you as well as your parents, wanting to catch up a bit while having dinner. “I think she went upstairs Thor,” He was following your mother’s direction, having been upstairs quite a few times now. He was making his way into what used to be your bedroom, poking his head through other doors as he called for you. 

As he passed by the hallway bathroom, he pauses as he hears your grunting from the other side of the door. “Baby?” He calls, knocking once. “Just-hold on-,” You grunt, groaning in frustration. “What are you doing in there?” You’re unlocking the door so he can be let inside, and he’s opening the door, pausing momentarily, head tilting in confusion. Your clothes were on the floor, and you were in the midst of pulling on this dress. 

“I can’t-it won’t go over my hips,” The door is closing behind him, and he’s stopping you, pulling the dress over your head. For a moment, you think he may try to stretch it out for you, but he’s rolling the dress back up and placing it in its box. “Put your clothes back on. Why are you trying to change?” 

You’re reaching for the dress again, and he’s swatting your hands away, his gaze making you go still. “Maya brought it for me to try on, and mom said she had some things that I may be able to fit…” You’re adverting your gaze, blinking back the moisture that started to collect in your eyes. “Fit for what? Your clothes are fine. You look beautiful,” “You think so…but my arms are flabby, I can’t even fit into certain clothes, and maybe the skirt is too short-,” 

Thor is lifting you as if you weighed nothing, placing you on the edge of the counter. He’s grabbing your shirt and easing it over your hair and head.  “Everything you wear looks beautiful on you,” He’s grasping your face, tilting your head up to look at him. “I love every part of you, and if you’re having trouble loving yourself, I can help remind you. You could be wearing animal hide for all I care and you’d still be the prettiest woman I’ve ever laid eyes on,”

He's helping you back down, easing your skirt back up your legs, placing a gentle kiss against your thigh. He was dabbing at your eyes when he stood, pressing a kiss against your lips, pulling you against him. “I love you, every part of you,” He murmurs, kissing your forehead as he pulls away. 

You were returning with Thor, dressed in your original clothing. He held both plates in his hand as you walked towards the table that sat your parents. “Sorry I took so long,” You apologize, grabbing a plate from Thor. He nudges you towards the seat, and you move to sit. 

“It’s fine dear. Could you fit the dress? Maya said she offered it to you. If not, there may be something else-,” Before your mother could continue, Thor was sitting next to you, placing his weight a bit heavier than necessary. “She’s fine,” He interrupts, handing you a fork. 

You lean into his side, and he’s kissing the top of your head.

Chapter 6

Your phone pinged almost immediately as Tony simply texted your name. You bit your lip and kissed Thor on the cheek before the pair of you decided to duck out of the bookstore and retreat to the parked car left in front of the café. Thor chuckled a bit at you as you ducked your head, hiding away your face as a photographer asked for your name. Although your partner was used to the attention, it made your face flush to be bombarded with questions as you slipped into the shadow and safety of the passenger seat while Thor gently closed your door with a wink.  

He smiled politely at the few who were eager to get information and murmured an apology and need to get somewhere before slipping into the driver’s seat and starting the engine. Your phone buzzed again, and you looked at your screen to see a tabloid link in the team’s group chat.

Shellhead: Thor. Y/N. Do I need to be worried?       Nat: Are you guys ok??       Shellhead: I thought you were taking her to lunch Thor, not notifying the world you were expecting children.        Jolly Green: Bringing anything back?        Nat: They’re allowed to, Tony.        Petah: Bring leftovers!!! I’ve been here training with Mr. Stark all day Dx       Y/N: We are okay… Leaving out now.       Nat: They’re a lot huh? I hated going out for a long time because of the photos.       Jolly Green: I thought you stayed out of sight out of habit… Once a spy, always a spy.        Nat: Shaddup Bruce.         Petah: 007 connections...         Shellhead: What?

            You snorted and put your phone away. The conversations were going to just repeat themselves once you got back to Stark Tower. You looked over to Thor and smiled softly as he glanced over a moment, noticing you.

            “Are you okay with this?” He asked gently, his fingers finding yours and lacing together with a soft squeeze. You nodded and smiled, your stomach flipping a bit thinking about now having to formally make some kind of post on your Instagram or something. Thor had one as well, but never could figure it out.

            “I think this is good… You can’t just have a secret family forever.” You teased and he squeezed your hand again. He chuckled and agreed smiling at you lovingly before keeping his eyes on the road as the car merged on the highway and headed home. You watched the scenery breeze past you and tried to imagine having two small children in the tower this time next year…

The fact that this time next year, your whole life is going to be so different…

            Getting back into Stark Tower was slightly a mess. There were a good number of paparazzi huddled around the front of the building, but only a few knew of the obscured entrance to the garage a block away.

            Thor groaned softly when he pulled up to the opening of the garage and saw three persistent men holding cameras and ready to ask questions the moment the vehicle slowed. The security system to the entrance refused to open due to the man who came up to your side window and started knocking persistently, attempting to convince you to roll your window down.

            “Thor! Are you really going to be a father? Who’s the mystery woman??” They pressed and tried to record your face as you ducked down and thanked god the windows had dark tint. Thor growled low in his throat and revved the engine a bit, inching closer to the entrance and triggered the door to open this time, before quickly and carefully zipping into the garage. Unfortunately, neither of you noticed the small figure that was able to roll under the closing door and hide in the shadows of another vehicle.

            “I’m sorry petal, I don’t know what’s gotten into me…” He murmured and cleared his throat. You felt your heart flutter a bit realizing that he was being overprotective with the person at your window. “I don’t like them swarming you. This is not the life you chose.”

            “It’s not yours either.” You murmured softly and kissed his cheek. “I chose you. My heart chose you. Whatever else comes, I’ll put up with it.” You smiled at the big blonde lug. He continually forgot that this wasn’t the life he wanted either, being so far away from home, losing his home completely… If he could adjust, CLEARLY you could too.

            You tried to slip from your seat and Thor rushed out the car to catch your door before stopping and staring down at you in the quiet space. “I love you Y/N… Thank you for finding me…” he murmured softly and kissed you deeply, hands pulling you close and gripping your hips.

            It amazed you. After all the time you have been with this man, kissing him still made your head go fuzzy and your stomach flutter when he looked at you. Those pure bright blue eyes looked at you like you were the most precious thing in the world. You bit your lip before kissing him again and hugging into his chest, just enjoying a moment together.

            “Hey!” You both jumped as a voice echoed loudly from the door to the tower. Peter stood in the doorway excited, “Sorry- did you guys need help? Oh! And did you get leftovers??” He asked excitedly as he started heading to you both, parked just a few cars from the door.

            “We could use your help.” You teased, “But don’t worry- we got leftovers. So many leftovers…” You opened the back door to the big white bags filled with takeout boxes.

            Peter grinned and started to help grabbing bags and shopping things. He was about to turn back in the tower while he asked how your trip went and froze.

            “Hold on… Something isn’t right…” He murmured, his head turning towards the dark corner of the garage. Peter’s Spidey senses still wigged you out a bit to see in person, but your heart raced more for the fact that you had no idea what Peter heard.

            He carefully and quietly put down the bags in front of you and turned to the corner completely, crouching as he neared the older car stored in the corner closest to the entrance. Before you knew it, Peter moved fast, scuffling with someone before a heavy thud was heard as someone hit the side of the car. Thor ran over and helped, and as fast as the whole altercation started, it was over. Thor pulled a very dusty reporter from the corner, hand gripping the collar of his coat.

            “He was taking pictures,” Peter said huffing and picking up a camera, “You want me to delete them?

            “H-hey! You guys don’t have to do that- I-I’m sorry!” The guy apologized, squinting as if he expected to be hit for speaking up. Peter looked up at him and you saw the tick in his jaw that only showed when he was angry.

“They didn’t consent and you’re trespassing.” Peter said coolly, “The photos you have are of a private moment. Just because she’s with him doesn’t mean they lose that.”

Your heart thudded in your chest as Peter waited for the reporter to relent. You hadn’t realized you were holding your breath until the man nodded and Peter deleted the images before reaching to hand the camera back to its owner. Just as the camera was about to grace the fingers of the reporter, the man murmured something cruel under his breath to himself. You barely caught the tail end of something pertaining your size as Thor’s head snapped to lock in on the reporter’s eyes. There was an energy that radiated from Peter that you had never seen in person. The same muscle ticked on his jaw as he ground his teeth and took a deep breath. The man panicked as his eyes flit between the two men’s cold stares while Peter stepped closer to him.

Peter never broke eye contact as he held his hand out for the man to take his camera before the crack of the expensive lens echoed across the dark garage. The man flinched as the silent teen reached his hand out and dropped the now crushed equipment in the reporter’s hand. He leaned in and you held your breath praying no one lashed out, “If you’d like that to not extend to other parts of your career, never show your face around Stark Tower again.” He spoke softly, his eyes cold and promising nothing kind.

A wave of protectiveness radiated from both men that made your eyes water as Thor gruffly directed the shaken gentleman to the foot entry access on the other side of the garage. Peter turned to you and immediately his face softened into one of concern as you hiccupped and allowed the tears that were battling to fall.

“Y/N! What’s wrong??” He worried and checked over your face panicked as Thor hurried back over to the pair of you once the intruder was successfully locked out. You shook your head and offered them both a watery smile.

“I’m okay, you just- thank you.” You broke down and hugged Peter tightly, “Thank you for defending me.” He seemed too lax under your grip and hugged you back tightly.

“Of course! We’re family, no one gets to speak to you that way.” He said sternly and Thor chuckled.

“You are quite the protective little brother Spider Lad.” Thor clapped Peter on the shoulder and all three of you redirected your attention to carrying in your loot from earlier. As you wiped your tears from your now puffy cheeks, both men refused to let you pick up more than your small bag of books before being ushered back into the private access hall.

Within a few minutes, Peter was doing a happy wiggle, arms laden with white bags, as the three of you rode the elevator up to the commons shared with the team. Thor shifted his bags and took your hand before walking you to the shining kitchen to look over your baby loot once again. Natasha fawned over the small onesies before comparing a small sock to her own finger.

“We are going to need a nursery around here soon…” She murmured, “Any ideas you guys have come up with?” she inquired curiously while arching a brow. You hadn’t even considered preparing for the twins at the tower- or anywhere else for that matter. You chewed your lip worried a bit,

“I honestly hadn’t considered that yet… Eeek- We have to babyproof Tony and Bruce’s labs…” you worried quietly, Thor stopped chuckling at Peter’s excitement over the layout of foods and froze., “I wonder if Tony has anything in the works yet, I’m sure he does.” You continued.

“No- no we have not considered that.” He murmured, turning to look for Tony, “Where is Stark???” He inquired before heading to the small lab in the commons.

Natasha quietly picked up a piece of a cinnamon roll before sheepishly murmuring, “Oops,” and popping the bite in her mouth.

Abused and abandoned by her owners, Sage now spends her days locked in the confines of the cage within a local animal shelter - not that she's entirely opposed. Though she dares not trust any potential adoption prospects, her outlook on life drastically changes when one dazzling pair of green eyes meets hers. What starts as the two Odinson brothers' hope of securing a pet companion becomes the beginning of their greatest adventure yet.

Author's Note: Welcome! I hope you enjoy this story, as it was originally posted on deviantArt when I was much younger (about 15 or so) and I've now decided to revive it for fun. That being said, all I remember about this story was that it's divergent from canon. If I had to pick the closest timeline for it, I'd probably say after the Thor movie, but Loki doesn't die and they both get matters settled cordially (or as cordially as they can) on Asgard. It's mainly meant to be a slice of life piece, so happy reading!

Chapter 1: Shut In

Life is a cage and I want nothing more than to break out and feel the earth between my toe pads. What I wouldn’t give to stretch my legs without fear that every step might come at the cost of immeasurable pain and bristled fur.

My head snaps towards the door at the sound of tinkling bells and heavy footsteps.

“Hello, welcome to the animal shelter!” Cindy calls from the front. 

Steel bars mar my vision as I crawl backwards to lay flush against the cold metal trapping me inside. Humans come in, day in and day out, looking for another play thing to take home and abuse.

Please don’t come here. Please don’t come here. My dark fur usually keeps me hidden from the wandering, ugly eyes of searching tormentors leering into my private abode. 

Pick me! The fat tabby screeches from the cage below me; I can hear her fur rubbing against the cage.

No way! Everyone wants you, Jewel. Pick me! Crystal hisses, claws jingling on her own door. 

“My brother would like to inquire about your selection of feline companions.” A blonde and burly human steps up to the counter with a loud voice that prompts me to curl up into a tight, defensive little ball. Can’t let them see me. 

“Of course!” There’s a flurry of movement as Cindy leads the two, much taller humans in our direction. “Jewel has been a fan favorite among cat lovers. She’s a little older, but she’s very cuddly and well-mannered. Crystal is a good lap cat and likes to play outside. Frankie is skittish, but once he warms up to you, he’s quite talkative.”

Two voices clash as the two large men discuss the different options presented to them. The blonde is easy enough to distinguish, even from miles away, if only because of his boisterous outbursts. His companion, a man with a black mane, appears thoroughly unimpressed with each feline presented to him.

Then his green eyes meet mine.

“What about this one? What’s her name? The information on the cage appears incomplete.” His voice soothes me, soft like velvet and allowing me to relax my body briefly.

When I realize I’ve let my guard down, I contract all my muscles again. I watch him, not even daring to blink as he coos soft assurances at me.

“Oh! That’s Sage.” Cindy looks at him and then me, her eyes painted with pity. A growl rumbles in my chest as a warning for both of them. “We found her outside, neglected and alone. She showed signs of abuse and most people have found they’re not interested in her because it takes her a long time to engage with anyone. When we first got her, she reacted more violently when provoked. Now, she settles for growling to let you know she wants space.”

Green Eyes stares at me for a while, and I stare back.

You don’t have to be afraid. His body language says.

Fear keeps me alive. I hiss, before loosening up a bit. But…I don’t want to be afraid anymore.

“...I want her.” He breathes.

My old masters used to torture me in every way possible, the shadow of their presence domineering and filling me with uncertainty and trepidation. Green Eyes casts a shadow that’s warm and blankets me with safety and security.

I can’t trust it.

I growl louder as instincts take over and I try digging my claws into the floor. It serves as a harsh reminder of their removal years prior.

“She may take a while to come around. She’s been here for four months and still hides whenever I reach in to pet her. She was declawed when we found her.” Cindy explains, before cooing softly and stretching her hands into the outskirts of my reach. “Sage? Sage, you have a visitor.” 

My cell door rattles as her arm pries further in – I don’t move.

“Maybe if we give her a little time with the door open. Were you looking for any other animals today?” Cindy compromises, retracting her hand but leaving the door ajar.

“Yes! May I look at your selection of dog breeds?” The loud one grins.

“Certainly. If you’d like to stay here, sir, I’ll lead your friend back this way.” Cindy says, before Green Eyes nods and the other two depart.

Shortly after they leave, the sound of barking dogs echoes down the hallway.

“Loud bunch, aren’t they, Sage?” Green Eyes coos, never taking his eyes off of me. “I’m Loki. My brother is the one that just went looking for a dog. His name’s Thor.”

Why is he telling me this? I wonder. I just want everyone to go away. Can’t he see that? I don’t want to be hurt anymore.

“I’m sure you’ve been through quite the ordeal. I wouldn’t blame you for withholding your trust for a measured time, Sage.” He continues, as though he can hear my every thought. “But I assure you, I will not harm you. I will give you a home that you can learn to walk in without fear, and protect you from all dangers.”

Several quiet moments pass as I gauge his words. Two more humans walk in and flock to the small rodents in the room adjacent. No one’s ever told me that before. I want to believe him, desperately.

I want to know warmth and good food. I want to know soft voices and gentle touches. I want the earth to feel sure beneath my feet and stand by a master that treats me like an equal, who will praise me for what I’ve done right. 

Loki reaches his hand into my cage and sets it at the edge, still as stone.

With agonizing slowness, I uncurl my limbs and move closer to sniff his hand and glean his intention from his scent. He smells like sandalwood and petrichor, like mischief and a playful spirit. Beyond that, there’s a subtle whiff of something like sparkling fire.

I pull my head back as a preventative, but he remains unbothered. His expression doesn’t change, inviting and safe.

“It’s okay. I’m not going anywhere, and I’m not going to hurt you.” He promises.

Poking my head closer to him, I move into his orbit and rub my head against his hand to judge his level of trustworthiness. Delicate hands stroke my fur down to the base of my neck before coming back up to my head. He seems to understand my need for space just as much as I understand our mutual need for warmth.

This is what I’ve always wanted.

Thor returns with a large, excitable dog on his heels when I finally opt to seek refuge in Loki’s arms. My head tucks into the crook of Loki’s elbow to dampen the sound of their arrival.

“Brother! You’ve managed to sway the young creature – you always did have a way with animals.” Thor chuckles. “I’ve found a companion of my own!”

There’s a fair amount of shuffling as pleasantries are exchanged with Cindy. A white sheet of paper with writing can be seen when Loki shifts me around in his arms, gentle and lithe in his movements. 

“Thanks for offering these two a loving new home. If you need anything else, don’t hesitate to contact us!” Cindy smiles.

Then, the wide open world lays open before me as we all step into the crisp, cool air.

Marvel Prompt!

Steve is walking towards one of Tony's 'relaxing rooms', looking for Tony himself. He had come back with Loki from a mission, both injured. Neither bothered to go to medical at all, as usual. Thor was looking for his sibling, intending to carry him to the infirmary kicking and screaming if he had to.

So it was a surprise when Steve bumped into Thor, heading for the same room. JARVIS had said that both were in this room, but left out that they were in it together.

Entering the room both Steve and Thor were surprised, the room being a small library. On two of the walls were large shelf's containing books, the rest of the room furnished with a few small tables and places to sit on the floor. Tony and Loki were on the floor by a window, a perfect view of the city, resting against each other. Loki reading quietly, while Tony rested with his head on Loki's should.

Both were clearly tired, sore, and physically exhausted. Steve, nor Thor, knew about their emotional or mental state.

Loki spots them, makes a sign to keep quiet, then simply reads some more. Steve shakes his head, amused, and Thor gives a small huff of a laugh. Thor walks over and gently pats Loki's head, murmuring how he loves him. Steve walks over to a section of wall to open a hidden panel, revealing a med kit.

Both Steve and Thor decided to give the two a break, letting them rest in their comfort place today. Tony hugs Loki's arm when Steve tried to pull him into a more suitable position, giving a small puppy whine. It also occurred now to the two that wasn't injured, the ones who had to patch up the wounded, that it wasn't going to be easy bandaging them up.

It was clear now, both were mentally exhausted. Emotionally? Strained, very strained. Nothing but some cuddles could fix it though, cuddles and snacks!

I just read your time travel au, and i gotta say its the most ive enjoyed myself when readjng in awhile!!! Are you considering adding onto it at all or is the fic the last of it? I dont wanna make you feel pressured to do anything you don't want to do but i would love to see more of this au!!!!!!

I'm glad you're having as much fun with that fic as I did! At the moment I don't plan to continue this 'verse beyond what I posted in As Subtle As Cognitive Recalibration on AO3.

But if there was a continuation, it would probably go something like this:

Team Conclusive Evidence That Any Moron Can Time Travel is at a loss.

Oh, sure, the overall plan is obvious: Get Earth ready for Thanos. With a strong focus on Priority 2: Burn HYDRA to the ground. But, well. How exactly are they supposed to do that? After they just gave SHIELD the middle finger and handed the scepter and mind stone to Asgard? How are they supposed to convince Natasha and Tony of the insane truth or — failing that — a credible lie?

Also what the fuck are they supposed to do with Loki— Easy, Thor, no one here has any sort of problem with your baby bro, not even a hint, not a a smidge, nope.

Thor wants to prepare his realm for the invasion of the Dark Elves which, fair enough. No one argues. (The deal is he takes that damn scepter off planet immediately, along with the tesseract and Loki, and comes back as soon as possible to give them an idea how Asgard's gonna handle things this time around.)

(The only one unhappy with that deal is Loki who has taken to staring at Thor with something disturbing like concern. Or wariness.)

In any case, the alien side of things is officially not their biggest immediate problem and how sad is that.

Clint and Steve agree that they need to deal with SHIELDRA ASAP. That doesn't tell them how. Last time they pretty much set SHIELD on fire and watched it burn.

(Steve got so much shit from Tony for that fiasco. So many "there were better ways to handle that"s. Which he used to counter with "there was no time". They both had a point back then — but this time around time is the one resource they don't lack. And Steve knows they need to do a better job. Tony would never stand for anything less and Steve won't let him down.)

There's also the matter of avoiding the entire Winder Soldier and Accords mess if at all possible but one logistic nightmare at a time.

Hulk sulks because no one lets him spend time with Tin Man.

On an unrelated note, Hulk is the worst secret keeper on the entire team and that includes a sleep-deprived, self-medicating Tony running on caffeine and spite.

Steve and Clint start the very complicated process of trying to identify HYDRA agents and missions that they remember, putting together charts and timelines and generally doing a great impression of two increasingly panicked and paranoid conspiracy theorists. If they're gonna do this, they'll do it right and proper this time around, with research, preparation and hopefully limited collateral damage.

So they plan. Natasha would Judge™ them if they didn't. (Right after she'd murder them for keeping this secret from her.)

Maybe they can hunt one or two bases down, infiltrate the network to get their hands on SHIELDRAs data without making it obvious that they're only targeting HYDRA (SHIELD, after all and despite the fact that it kills Clint to face up to it, isn't distinguishable from HYDRA). And hey, Clint thinks he vaguely remembers one or two contacts he could call about some hacking, so there's no need to pull Tony or JARVIS into this mess either. The mere thought that HYDRA might pay him more attention than they already do thanks to his innovations is...

Steve breaks five mugs and the coffee maschine. Clint just breaks his hand.

(They'll both sleep better knowing Tony is far away from any potentially life-threatening situation until they can look their team mate in the eye without seeing his bleeding and broken body on that fucking battle field, thanks.)

Meanwhile, Hulk — still sulking and angry about it — leaves the Tower to go smash any SHIELD agents he encounters. Which, considering the teams Fury has sent to reacquire the tesseract, are quite a lot.

Right in front of Tin Man's entrance door too.
