The Importance of Protein 🥩🍳 - Protein is an essential nutrient our bodies need in order to fully function, this is why its one of the 3 macronutrients, which are; Fats, Carbohydrates and Protein. - Protein is the building blocks of our body it helps repair everything from cells to muscle to tissue and so on. Without protein we would die and without a sufficient amount our bodies would deteriorate. Protein helps repair and build muscle, the more muscle you maintain the more calories you burn on a daily basis. Aim for 0.8g to 1g per lb of body weight, i.e a 130lb woman would need 104g-130g of protein a day. - Protein is higher in satiety this means it will leave you feeling more full than carbs or fats would. This is great for weight loss as it controls your hunger levels more effectively and makes it easier to consume less calories whilst feeling full. - Protein plays a vital role in supporting our immune system, going back to the first point it helps repair cells, tissue and organs. This makes our immune system stronger and work more effectively in fighting off any illness. - Protein takes more energy to digest over any other macronutrient. Carbs and protein both contain 4 calories per gram but protein takes about 25% more energy to digest. So choosing higher protein meals leaves you burning more calories at the dinner table and throughout the day. - There you have it guys the importance of protein, let me know if you would like me to do the same for fats and carbohydrates to. - - - - - - - - - #fitspo #eatclean #transformation #life #lifestyle #gym #fitfam #fatloss #training #gains #abs #workout #fitnessmotivation #fitnessjourney #gymlife #bodytransformation #burnfat #cardio #instagood #protein #proteinmatters #satiety #thursday #plymouth (at The Lemon Frog Fitness Company)
