That is 34 tabs ranging in subject from the biology of bears, what time of year rabbits are spotted, decomposition rates under freezing conditions, Proto-Finnic linguistics, etc., etc. Our stories are thoroughly researched whilst also allowing creativity to exist within the science. I can't wait for y'all to read the story our writer Ayane Martinez created and did all this research for called Aksi & the Hunting Party. It's a female-led story that might be a little sapphic ;)
In Proto-Jöstic (PJH) there exists three words to describe a home.
The first is "Hamar" which means home, derrived from Proto-Germanic (PGmc) *Haimaz
The second specifically refers to a more prestigious type of home, a large house. In PJH this is called "Hosą" and is derrived from PGmc *hūsą.
The third is "Katą", it is borrowed from Proto-Finnic (PFin) *kota and refers to a tent or small round house.
The reason there is a difference between hosą and katą has to do with class distinctions and social relationships. The Finnic people of the region were subjugated by the Germanic migrators, and as such, more prestigious words and concepts are almost always derrived from Proto-Germanic and lower class wkrss are borrowed from Proto-Finnic (Think French words in English). The traditional housing structures of the Finnic peoples would have been seen as lower class and as such a distinction is made between the germanic style precursor to the Norse longhouse and the traditional Finnic round/tent style homes.
