Okay so I’m trying to be moderately organized and going back through posts for bits where I’m like “wow, this is a whole subject I could write about” and then didn’t do it.

But I think first on deck is going to have to be Hannibal’s relationship with Alana.  I’ve alluded to my thoughts on it in both posts and tags before, but it probably deserves its own whole thing.  

Briefly, though: Hannibal genuinely likes Alana.  He has a real personal connection with her, inasmuch as his murder hobby and associated obfuscation allows.  

And... shit, I really think that still matters to her all through s3, in some way.  (What “matters to her” means is intentionally vague because she sure isn’t intentionally taking chances, but on the other hand she did apparently lie to a jury to keep him from the death sentence.)

I want to structurally and thematically break down season 12 so far... but time says no. Hopefully I can later this week. It means rewatching the whole season and taking notes so it may be awhile but it’s something I’ve got in the pipeline. Hopefully I’ll be able to figure out everyone’s character assignments too. I’ve got Cas’ Dean’s and Mary’s pretty much figured out unless I find something especially game changing in the rewatch. Crowley’s is harder since he’s probably planning something and Sam could be but it’s not clear. Everyone else’s seems to be based on different characters but we’ll see.

My head is spinning with proto meta prompts and tumblr keeps tumbling and spitting up new gifs.  I know I had a great one before I fell asleep but I didn't write it down.  I need to work.  I need to write these metas.  I need to research these metas, and find supporting images.  GAH.

These are the things I want to flesh out, illustrate, talk through and show you so you can suffer with me.  The rest of season 10 is unfurling and it is dark and angst-ridden and people are going to do emotional and stupid things.

10x10 first reaction

ok, some quick thoughts post viewing.  Wanted to get them out; hopefully they will spark more long-form meta in the coming days.

Charlie.  Charlie is on "team save Dean" along with Sam and Cas.  Charlie "sparkles".  Charlie is "our Charlie" to Dean.  Charlie gets a nickname (kiddo) from Dean

Dean had to break through two different doors to get to dark!Charlie.  Continuing the theme of breaking down doors / doors as a barrier between evil and help. 

glass was broken twice - a window and a mirror.  Both times the dark twin went through.

a less obvious "healthy" dean change:  reading about mammograms in a women's health mag instead of busty asian beauties.  Healthier views of women?

Dean is still wearing black t-shirts

throughout the episode his hand kept shaking.  Except at the end.  I think after he tacitly agreed to help from Sam (and team save Dean by extension) THAT time, his hand didn't shake.

The guy who ran and hid from his evil side ended up dead.  Charlie who accepted hers did not.

Charlie emphasizes that what they have different from Cain is that they are Winchesters - but they are direct descendents from Cain so...

still not over the Gabriel/Collins aliases.

regina was for all intents and purposes on death row in ftl

she got whatever the hell is beyond an 11th hour pardon

and then she comes to this world & this country

with our prison industrial complex

and don't tell me she wouldn't inherently understand what utter bullshit can land someone in jail in this country

but then she'd look at emma who is the antithesis of everything she understands as assailable, emma this white girl who got knocked up and went to prison before she could even legally drink

emma who projects her faults miles ahead of her

who henry gravitates to instantly

who has all of these people accept her

even with prison written all over her

even with prison printed in the mirror--

i just... there's so much there to work with, and i don't even know how to start, but suffice it to say that i need need need to elaborate on and detangle regina's views on emma's conviction and what that says about who emma is, and what that last bit says about who regina could be.
