Flocking Together
Guidraco/Dinosaurus
Eretmorhipis/Protoichthyosaurus
Over 20 specimens of Ichthyosaurus from the 1700s and 1800s were misidentified due to fabricated body parts. A study suggests they belong to a sister genus, Protoichthyosaurus.
By applying the latest knowledge and technological innovations, even last century’s bones can tell us new stories.

An ichthyosaur first discovered in the 1970s but then dismissed and consigned to museum storerooms across the country has been re-examined and found to be a new species.
