With the Niobrara formation we are entering an sea of classics! Unfortunately I had to kill the king to bring all these squabbling nobles together to figure out the succession. Protostega dibs out before it gets too wild.
Niobrara is quite tricky because it preserves a purely pelagic fauna, unless you want to look at some giant clams in complete darkness. As we already did a bait ball for Pierre Shale I wanted to avoid huge fish swarms.
The initial idea for this was an elasmosaur migration at rough sea, but that just doesn't bring enough of the predators to the table. So with migration and bait ball out of the way and the Platyceramus "reef" too deep we opted for the classic bloat and float option.
As you can see, once again, in this size chart by discord member JW, we have a fauna filled to the brim with macro-predators. And some of the most iconic and largest members didn't even make it in here. If you know how to cram in here some more giant fish and sharks let me know ;)
