Proverbs 2:7 Wisdom And Shield For The Upright
He stores up sound wisdom for the upright; He is a shield to those who walk uprightly; Proverbs 2:7 College and university professors often teach that great wisdom can only be found in a few ancient philosophers. Wisdom
“For the Lord gives skillful and godly Wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding.” Proverbs 2:6 (AMPC)
“He stores up perfect wisdom for those who are right with Him. He is a safe-covering to those who are right in their walk.” Proverbs 2:7 (NLV)
I have a “Gratitude App”, which encourages me to write about things I am grateful for. Today it asked what I am most thankful for and the answer came to me in a flash: God’s Wisdom. Looking back, I can appreciate how God has shared His wisdom with me over the years, at a pace where I was ready to receive it. Psalm 51:6, “You teach me wisdom deep within."
GotQuestions.org says, “All truth is God’s. God has, however, revealed His truth to all humans in the things created (Romans 1:20) called general revelation, and in His written Word called special revelation (1 Corinthians 2:6–10). There is a difference between “earthly wisdom” and the “wisdom that comes from above” (James 3:14–18). To tap into God’s wisdom, we must, first of all, desire it and ask God for it. “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you” (James 1:5). The next verse specifies that we must “ask in faith, nothing wavering” (verse 6). We acknowledge that true wisdom comes from God and that Jesus Christ is the embodiment of that wisdom (1 Corinthians 1:30). To trust in Christ and yield to His Holy Spirit is to walk in wisdom; as Christians, “we have the mind of Christ” (1 Corinthians 2:16).”
Some call God’s Word “Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth” -”B.I.B.L.E.”, because the Bible is essentially a Holy Spirit infused instruction manual with an answer for any problem. There is always something new to learn, because the Holy Spirit reveals new insights each time we read it. (Have you ever read the same verse over and over then one day it takes on this amazing new meaning? That’s the Holy Spirit working!) I can’t pretend that I know everything in the Bible; I haven’t anywhere near finished my journey of learning yet, but I can see how God has been patiently giving me new knowledge and understanding. The Bible is so full of the Wisdom of God! Each time you read it and the longer you meditate on it, the more understanding God gives you. This is why I use different Bible translations, because they give me new insights into God’s teachings. The song “Good, Good Father” says, “I know we're all searching for answers only You provide, ‘Cause You know just what we need before we say a word.” God knows what we need and the answers are all there in the Bible. Friend, dive into God’s Heavenly Instruction Manual and God will speak to you through it. Pray for understanding before you read the Bible, meditate on what you read and you will find wisdom and answers by the power of the Holy Spirit, who opens up knowledge to our spirits. Ask, Seek, Knock and the door will open to you. PRAYER: Lord, thank You for Your Word! Help us to feel deeply Your great love when we read the words of love You have placed for us throughout the Bible. Speak to us through Your Word, and give us the wisdom we need from it to help us in our daily lives. Help us to know more of You from reading Your Word. Help us to be “right with You, so we can access the perfect wisdom stored up for us.” Help us to understand Your teachings and Your ways better. Help us to grow greatly in Your wisdom. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
