Proverbs 24:16
Proverbs 24:16 - For a righteous man falls 7 times and rises again…
For though the righteous fall seven times, they rise again, but the wicked stumble when calamity strikes.
Proverbs 24:16
Proverbs 24:16 (NLT) - The godly may trip seven times, but they will get up again. But one disaster is enough to overthrow the wicked.
“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” —Deuteronomy 31:6 (NIV)
Oftentimes life can be overwhelming: health issues; work problems; relationship troubles; attacks from the enemy from all sides and on all levels - these happen and can make you feel like you're drowning. “Why me? Why now?” You may cry. Maybe you feel like hiding in the corner, or just curling up in a ball and wishing the world would go away. But that doesn't mean that you aren't courageous.
Proverbs 24:16a says, “For the lovers of God may suffer adversity and stumble seven times, but they will continue to rise over and over again” (TPT) and in the EXB translation: “Even though good [righteous] people may be bothered by trouble [fall] seven times, they are never defeated [get back up].”
Friend, when you get back up again and keep going, no matter how many times you fall or are knocked down, you are telling the devil that he may have won that round, but you're still in the battle.
When you refuse to stay down, that's having the courage of an overcomer, because in Christ you are an overcomer (Jn 16:33, Rom 8:37). But having the courage of an overcomer doesn't mean you'll always roar. Sometimes it's just getting through the day; getting up again when life knocks you down. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice, late at night in a dark room, saying “I will try again tomorrow.”
Friend, be proud of yourself. You are an OVERCOMER and you're going to make it to the finish line, because God will help you get back up and finish that race. He will NEVER leave you NOR forsake you. Keep getting back up and pressing on, there's a prize to be won and it's an awesome prize.
For as Paul said,
“And I continually long to know the wonders of Jesus and to experience the overflowing power of his resurrection working in me. I will be one with him in his sufferings and become like him in his death. Only then will I be able to experience complete oneness with him in his resurrection from the realm of death. I admit that I haven’t yet acquired the absolute fullness that I’m pursuing, but I run with passion into his abundance so that I may reach the purpose for which Christ Jesus laid hold of me to make me his own. I don’t depend on my own strength to accomplish this; however I do have one compelling focus: I forget all of the past as I fasten my heart to the future instead. I run straight for the divine invitation of reaching the heavenly goal and gaining the victory-prize through the anointing of Jesus.” (Phil 3:10-14, TPT)
