Give me a revelation of our home in the spiritual realm. Grant me the desire to maintain every part of it as unto You. I pray that my days of haphazard housekeeping would be over…

SYSTEMATIC 

SHE LOOKETH WELL TO THE WAYS OF HER HOUSEHOLD, AND EATETH NOT THE BREAD OF IDLENESS.  –Proverbs 31:27 

Lord, 

As I have searched Your Word, I have learned that You are a God of “order”. When You gave Moses the design for the Tabernacle, You were very explicit about every detail. The furniture, curtains, fixtures, utensils, and supplies were all to be made according to a specific description given by You. 

In all of nature, I am able to see a perfect plan that You intended. The seasons and the tides are all controlled by Your divine sovereignty. Because You approve of such organization, I know I can come to You with my need for a better system for my home. I like things to be clean and orderly, but I confess I need more discipline to keep on a regular schedule for getting things done completely. 

I am asking You to go with me through my house room by room, and show me how to manage each area in the most sensible way. Give me ideas for controlling the clutter that seems to accumulate no matter what I do. Help me to be less sentimental or stingy about getting rid of things that just plain take up space and make life more difficult. Show me what I can do without and let me throw those things away or find a better home for them. 

Let me become totally systematic, with regular days for each duty. I want to make my housework a priority…even the unseen areas which are so easily put off. 

Give me a revelation of our home in the spiritual realm. Grant me the desire to maintain every part of it as unto You. I pray that my days of haphazard housekeeping would be over and that from now on, I would have a method for maintenance that will really work.

It’s pretty easy for me to imagine the excitement around the house of the woman who is ever active. She is continually inspired and her family is never sure what she will do next. One thing is certain—there is never a dull moment…

EXCITING

SHE LOOKETH WELL TO THE WAYS OF HER HOUSEHOLD, AND EATETH NOT THE BREAD OF IDLENESS.  –Proverbs 31:27 

Lord, 

It’s pretty easy for me to imagine the excitement around the house of the woman who is ever active. She is continually inspired and her family is never sure what she will do next. One thing is certain—there is never a dull moment. 

The virtuous woman doesn’t allow her extra curricular activities to take precedence over her household chores. Instead, she allows herself a project for recreation, when regular chores have been completed. She retains her motivation to finish her duties of the day by having a goal to which she looks forward. 

The time she is able to spend on creativity makes her a fascinating person to her husband and children. Home is a stimulating place to be, and the enthusiasm is contagious. The house is not a wild collection of work in process, because she has learned the wisdom of finishing what she starts. She won’t let herself begin anything new, until she has completed what she has begun. 

This vivacious individual doesn’t live in anyone else’s light and doesn’t copy her lifestyle from something she saw on television or at the movies. She is too busy doing the original things that spring from her inventive mind to spend time imitating any other person. 

Her husband can’t become bored with her, because she uses her resourcefulness and energy to keep their relationship interesting and alive. Her children don’t think of her as being over the hill because she has as much energy as they do. As time goes by, she only improves. Her treasury of experiences have compounded to a wealth that can’t be counted. She is worth far more to her husband now than in her youth. 

God, I pray that these qualities would develop and mature in me. I ask that through all my days and in all my ways I would bring excitement to my husband and children. Don’t let me ever use my age as an excuse for becoming a bore.

PREPARED 

SHE LOOKETH WELL TO THE WAYS OF HER HOUSEOLD, AND EATETH NOT THE BREAD OF IDLENESS.  –Proverbs 31:27 

Lord, 

I see that the virtuous woman’s family is stable and secure because of the standards she has established and maintains. 

Her children are dependable, partly due to the example she sets for them on a daily basis. They don’t live in an atmosphere of confusion where “anything goes”. They have learned to be organized because they have observed the schedule she keeps. They have grown to see that it is a logical, sensible way to live. 

The virtuous woman is continually interested in the order of her home. She is readily on the lookout for items out of place. Household maintenance is a constant part of her life. Her home stays basically clean because of methodical procedure. 

This lady is not embarrassed when unexpected guests arrive, because she has a desire for cleanliness for her own sake, whether people are coming over, or not. She never allows herself to become buried by her duties. As a result, she has the knowledge of where things are in her home. She doesn’t have to waste time looking for lost articles, because she has a place for everything and she works consistently at keeping everything in place. 

The virtuous woman anticipates the unexpected by doing thing in advance of when they are needed, instead of waiting until the last minute. Whether it be laundry, grocery shopping, or making a meal, she is systematic and always prepared. 

She doesn’t become depressed from over extending herself because she is well aware of her regular responsibilities and her limitations. She doesn’t allow too many outside activities to crowd her agenda. 

Lord, this is a description of how I want to be. I pray You will work with me to achieve the perfection of a well-maintained lifestyle. Teach me and train me until all of my efforts are automatic.

I’m grateful that as I watch over my family, I am not watching alone. It’s comforting to know that according to Acts 16:31, You have promised to save me and my family because I believe in the Lord Jesus Christ…

ON GUARD 

SHE LOOKETH WELL TO THE WAYS OF HER HOUSEHOLD, AND EATETH NOT THE BREAD OF IDLENESS.  –Proverbs 31:27 

Lord, 

As I look into the meaning of the Hebrew word for “Way”, I see that it also means: “a procession or march, a caravan, company, going, walk”. 

So, it makes sense to me that a woman who looks well to the “ways” of her household, keeps track of the coming and going of the individual members. 

She closely supervises her children and their activities. As they go from room to room, she is aware of where they are and what they are up to. 

The virtuous woman helps her husband and the children keep on schedule by assisting them with their needs. She protects their reputation by helping them be prompt. 

Another way she guards her family is by making sure her children are not left with too much time on their hands. She keeps them busy with wholesome activities so they will not be as susceptible to fall in with a crowd that “hangs around” and usually ends up in trouble. 

This woman is constantly on the watch and in prayer for her family’s safety. She doesn’t behave carelessly by not paying attention to their actions. 

God, I pray that You will keep my eyes keen to see signals in advance, should any situation be arising in my home. Help me to be alert to danger, so that I can call on You before anything negative happens. 

I’m grateful that as I watch over my family, I am not watching alone. It’s comforting to know that according to Acts 16:31, You have promised to save me and my family because I believe in the Lord Jesus Christ.
