𝗪𝗛𝗔𝗧 𝗪𝗢𝗨𝗟𝗗 𝗬𝗢𝗨 𝗖𝗛𝗢𝗢𝗦𝗘 𝗧𝗢 𝗣𝗥𝗨𝗡𝗘 𝗙𝗥𝗢𝗠 𝗬𝗢𝗨𝗥 𝗟𝗜𝗙𝗘?? If you were forced to cut 2/3 of the “stuff” from your life, the to-do list, the meetings, the social gatherings, what would you prune and what would stay? I was listening to a powerful podcast this afternoon and it was comparing managing your life to pruning a rose bush. 𝙎𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙙𝙨 𝙖 𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙩𝙡𝙚 𝙘𝙧𝙖𝙯𝙮 𝙄 𝙠𝙣𝙤𝙬, 𝙗𝙪𝙩 𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙙 𝙤𝙣 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙄’𝙡𝙡 𝙚𝙭𝙥𝙡𝙖𝙞𝙣. You see, rose bushes NEED to be pruned. They thrive on cutting away the excess to allow the bush itself to focus its energy on what’s important, the flowers. But a rose bush doesn’t just make one rose at a time, it generates a multitude of buds at once. The gardener’s job is to prioritize the buds, and trim the rest, to allow the plant the best chance of doing what it does best. Without the pruning, the rose bush has so many buds to focus on at once that it uses all its energy “trying” to grow too many roses and can die. 𝗦𝗼 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝘄𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗽𝗿𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗿𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗵? Well, ask yourself the questions: If I had to prune 2/3 of the stuff from my life, which things would actually be priority enough to stay? Can I say no to some phone calls and focus on my main clients to do the best job? Can I say no to the multitude of friends wanting to hang out and be a true friend to the ones I really value? Can I say no to some things on my to-do list and focus on the ones that are my highest priority? When you “prune the bush” so to speak, we are really prioritizing the things that are going to serve you and your mission or purpose or goal the most. The rest is maybe things that we “think” are a priority and may not actually be so. 𝗦𝗼, 𝗜 𝗮𝘀𝗸 𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻, 𝗶𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗵𝗮𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗽𝗿𝘂𝗻𝗲 𝟮/𝟯 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 “𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗳𝗳” 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲, 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝘄𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘀𝗮𝘆 𝗻𝗼 𝘁𝗼?? I’ll drop one of mine below. Be brave and share one of yours in the comments!! 😜 . . . . #priorities #pruningtime #rosebush #prioritizeyourtime #stuff #shareyourtruth https://www.instagram.com/p/B8axXLonnGe/?igshid=1tlb58ttkfic9

✂️ 🌳✂️ I use the same pruning technique on overgrown shrubs (that I want to turn into small sculpted trees or even sculpted shrubs) as I do on my trees (like the redbud pruning I did recently on YouTube). This is a small-flowering snowball viburnum (like the ones popular in floral arrangements) that had way too many suckers, and looked weedy, overgrown, unkempt, and generally out of control. Opening it up and thinning it out will 1) improve air flow and reduce mosquito habitation😆 and 2) increase the amount of light in the area for low growing shrubs and even the hydrangeas growing nearby. (Forgive the rear end shots😮😬😆🤣). It gives the whole area a more manicured, less overgrown look...something I’m trying to achieve near this seating area off my kitchen. Can you see the difference? ••[go to the 🔗in bio for YouTube and other sites[•• . . . #lindavater #pruning #gardenchores #viburnum #gardenofthegods #garden #gardendesign #gardenstyle #instagardeners #gardeners #topiary #pruningtime #mygardentoday #gartenliebe #gardenlife #gardenliving #trädgård #workinginthegarden #gardeningtips #jardins #jardimdetalentos (at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma)
The hardest #rose prune since I’ve moved to Central #illinois. A warming & cooling winter has been deadly for #roses. I used to have to prune roses like this in N. Illinois. I’ve also lost more roses than any other #winter that I’ve grown #roses. #pruning was easy I used my @coronatools and pruned to the ground. #loppers #pruningseason #pruningtime #roses #rose
