[A couple of days ago, Dib had stumbled onto the find of the century; while it did involve the paranormal, it didn’t involve the discovery of a new phenomenon or species. In fact, it had more to do with his father and his past than anything in the field...and what he uncovered had stunned him more than anything he’d learned up to that point. In a box, stowed away in a foreboding corner of the house as though it was meant to never to be opened, was a collection of journals and photo albums -- all of which had presumably been kept by his father when he was younger.]
[Since they were labelled as paranormal investigation journals, despite being covered in dust and sealed away, Dib had made the assumption that they must’ve belonged to him; yet, when he read through them and saw the differences in handwriting and note-taking as a whole, he gradually came to the realization that they couldn’t have been. Thoroughly examining the albums and the pictures attached to the journals themselves eventually led him to an unfathomable conclusion -- his father had been responsible for writing them, and for compiling all the evidence he saw in those photos.]
[Upon deducing that much, he couldn’t help feeling somewhat...overwhelmed. Why would his father feel it necessary to keep this aspect of his life tucked away, hidden under wraps, like some hideous secret? If he recalled those events from his past, then why would he work tirelessly to prevent Dib from pursuing the same path? If anything, shouldn’t he be sympathetic...? Besides, it might be an irrational fear, but...if they both shared this same level of enthusiasm for this field, and now his father rejected it with a burning passion, what if Dib wound up the same way...?]
[...Insecurities aside, this was absolutely irrefutable proof. It HAD to be. There was no way that his father could refuse to acknowledge his own past as a paranormal investigator, right? Now that Dib had uncovered that such a phase in his life existed, and had physical evidence of it, there was no possible way that his paranormal science could be denied now. His father would listen to himself, even if he refused to acknowledge his son...he believed in his own theories no matter what. His son, on the other hand, had already been dismissed as “insane.”]
[Resolved and enthused, despite his lingering bitterness and fretfulness consuming him all the same, he approached his father -- a collection of journals and notable photographs gathered in his arms in preparation for the moment when his father would ultimately demand evidence.]
