akaashi does not think of bokuto as a burden.

he admires and respects him as both a friend and as his captain/teammate/ace. 

so, if there was a bokuto protection squad, akaashi would be the one to start it. he would be president. there would be meetings every week and he would take about how much he cares about bokuto in a Very Matter Of Fact way.
